If you have it, most people don’t. I want to put that on my Tundra for those sub twenty mornings.

I've been keeping a spray bottle of deicer in my vehicle during winter for about 5 years. My solution is a 50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol. I found it works better than the commercial winter windshield washer fluid and it's cheaper.
Idling your vehicle in the driveway is detrimental to your engine, the environment and a good way to get your vehicle stolen.

Leaving a car idling is doing more damage than you think 30 seconds is all you need get in and drive away. It can put extra strain on the alternator, potentially leading to premature wear and reduced lifespan. Additionally, idling for extended periods can lead to incomplete combustion in the engine, which can cause a buildup of deposits on the spark plugs and other engine components, leading to potential issues over time. there are moving parts pidtons & rods, serpentine belt, and oil doesn't need to warm up standstill. It gets warm as the car is moving.

I warm up the vehicles for the transmission health more than warmth especially if your vehicle has a CVT transmission. One of my vehicles has 200,000 miles and I warm it up every day of the year for ten minutes. Runs like new, so there’s that. Thanks for commenting.

when the high for the week isn't even above zero F and there is feet of snow everywhere most people run the car for a bit. much better on everything. even if you want to get into a minus 10 or 20 degree F car your infants or young kids don't. you ever hear the noises a car makes in that weather when you just start it and go? not good for the car

I don't warm up for ten minutes but I do let it run until it is off of fast idle and then drive very lightly until the engine has warmed up.

@@elebeu I definitely have to do that with our Subaru to warm up the CVT, otherwise it’s a slug.

Ten minutes of running and the window will be defrosted on its own.

Depends on the thickness of the frost. But sometimes it clears up other times it doesn’t. I usually spray the windshield, start the car finish packing my lunch and peel out of the neighborhood.
