  • I was sent down to the yard to pick up a trenching bucket, but the only machine available for lifting the bucket onto a trailer was one I have never driven before. Not even sat inside before. So this was going to be a learning experience...

    The fact you managed to get some fine local dialect caught on the radio in the video made my day 😂😂😂

    That awesome! Been running equipment all my life and have never seen a Huddig before! Cool!

    You absolutely nailed this review. I'm shocked you were able to figure that machine out without labels or instruction. I would've been totally lost. You're dead on with all of your observations!

    The Huddig is my absolute favorite machine I've ever operated. Can't see the bucket at the front and the visibility in the back is not fantastic. It's a bit weak in the loader compared to a similar sized wheel loader (think it's 5 tons) and a bit limited height movement on the boom, but the machine is just awesome to operate, the hydralics are so smooth (had to add an extra ;)) and precise that it's mindboggling.
    The tilt or perhaps twist of the stick as a better wording, is very good for getting closer to walls where the height limit might not allow the full boom to be under. There are also switches to as you said switch the active controls, iow to control the loader end when looking rear. The only issue I noticed with that, at least on the 1160D i (1260 is same size but newer model) that if you face forward and change the controls to the back and operate the supports the engine almost died, it was a very weird quirk that might just have been that individual).
    The sound of the 1160D was just amazing, it's gotten less good as the new models come out because of regulation (which is good, was nice to be inside the 1160d but not so much on the outside volume wise).
    There are also switches to "permanently" put the Rototilt on the thumb controls but you lose the steering. On the newer machines I think they have a ring control now that you can control the steering and stick twist on if I'm not mistaken but I've only seen it on photos, never been in a newer one (not even the 1260). I would love to operate one again, they are beats with the hydraulic controls you could pet a butterfly without squishing it. If you get a chance to start operating it, take it! ;-)
    Also if you ever to, remember to lower the supports quite a bit if you are swinging the boom to the side as it will hit the supports and scrape the paint if not careful.

    It's so funny to look at you trying to figure everything out when you have the manual behind your back in the picture 😂

      It was right behind me the whole time 😅. I had completely forgotten all machines in Sweden have the manual inside the machine by law.

      @@StrikerV3 True, but a Huddig have so much functions and buttons so it takes forever to figure it out if you haven't been in one before 😂

    That machine also has a red bar visible then climbing up - that one is intended to be used when you want or is required to LOCK the waist steering.
    Required doing that if the machine has rail follower wheel and you need to deploy them.

    I do prefer an excavator over a backhoe for the same reason. Leaning to the one side all day gets old no matter how comfy the seat is! That Huddig is the Swiss army knife of backhoes! It would be fun to spend a week in it for sure.

    Great machine, you did well considering none of the buttons seemed to have labels! I think the more recent ones have a camera mounted in the radiator to help with bucket visibility.

    Do you think the folder behind the seat is a manual on how to operate it?😂😢🎉

    • @pushnpow
      @pushnpow  Před rokem +4

      Indeed it is 😅 that was the first thing my boss said when I mentioned I couldn’t figure out where the seat button was. “Did you read the manual?”🤦🏻‍♂️. I’m so used to New Zealand where if a machine is older than a couple of years someone has removed the manual and probably left it in a workshop somewhere. At the time it didn’t even occur to me to look, but by law in Sweden they must have the manual in the cabin. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Lesson learned.

    Very cool machine! Has a bit of a Menzi Muck combined with a backhoe look to it. Did some research, here's one set up with a brush hog and Soucy tracks:

      The only way to learn it is to try it. It’s a lot at first but you either pick it up and it becomes automatic or it’s not for you. But you never know if you don’t try.

    Love the groomer vids. Wish you would comment more on the subtleties of grooming. Until I started watching your vids, I thought anybody that can mow a lawn could certainly run a groomer. Wrong! There is so much to know and then it's experience. My real question is why would you fumble around with strange beast when there was perfectly good excavator, practically in your way???? I didn't watch till the end. Too painful to watch. Did you ever accomplish your mission w/o incident? Thank you!

    • @pushnpow
      @pushnpow  Před 2 lety +8

      The excavator is broken down waiting for parts, so it can’t be used at the moment. Besides, I won’t learn anything new by avoiding everything unfamiliar.

    Every heavy machinery has an operator´s manual, next time read it before jumping on the machine.
