      That's always been my house rule as well. You never know when you'll go. A lot of people young and old pass in their sleep. You don't want the last 3 words said with a loved one to be anything but "I LOVE YOU". Once my son punched me in the mouth drunk late at night and cracked my tooth. I said son tomorrow we'll discuss this but tonight just know "I love You" and he said I love you too Dad. Imagine if I woulda died in my sleep that night without making that clear. He would have felt guilty forever. A good parent bites the bullet for the sake of the kids. The next day we talked. He apologized. Never happened again and he's started his own family and is getting ready to make me a grandpa. My advice to him was never let your family go to bed without saying I love you. He smiled. So did I.

      He never won the big one because Marino was a selfish stat chaser. I have been a fan of Miami since the early 70s and loved Marino initially…until he showed what was important to him. Miami brought in Jimmy Johnson, who had just turned Dallas into a championship team. Getting Johnson was huge. He would have taken Miami to Super Bowls but Dan Marino wouldn’t change his game. Johnson asked Marino to change his game, Johnson has spoken about this many times. Marino told him no. Marino didn’t want his stats to suffer. Johnson finally gave up and quit. He has said he quit because of Marinos selfishness. Great QBs are team players and Marino wasn’t. Sure he threw a lot of picks, but with the risks he was able to take cuz he was so good, you knew more often than not that he would beat you with his arm. It got really hard to be a fan in some of the post-Marino years. It felt like the team had gone from always having a chance to never having a chance; that even when they were winning they were going to find some way to blow it.

    This guy was unbelievable. Unbelievable. Top 3 pure passer. It's tragic that because his teams couldn't win a Superbowl he'll often be overlooked by people who didn't watch him play.
    Very classy guy and a good dad. He's definitely a champ in my book.

    Marino and JJ didn't get along... because they are the same ppl... Controlling......with different philosophies.....Had Marino broke in with JJ...instead of Shula....they would've won two or three titles together.......But Marino was a vet by the time they got together..and very much controlling.

    As a die hard Raiders fan, there were many high scoring games between the Raiders and the Dolphins. Plunkett vs Marino. Tom Flores had a great record vs Don Shula. Dan Marino was fun to watch, with his laser throwing arm.

    What he did in the 80's is how the game is now. Only he got pummeled throwing so much. I can't even name an RB while he played. I'm sad his records were passed, but he was the torch bearer. Definitely deserved a ring.

    You give Dan Marino a top 1 or top 3-5 or 10 defense like Brady had 17 of his 20 season he’s had on the Patriots, or his 2-3 years in Tampa Bay, he easily eclipses Brady if not gets as many championships/rings as him.
    This stupid generation and Skip Bayless and all of the debate sports talk shows made rings the end all argument, without context.
    -Rings are a TEAM accomplishment, individual player success are ACCOLADES. PERIOD.

    • @3512250
      @3512250 Před 9 měsíci +2

      He had better skill position guys than Brady most of his career and 2 hall of fame offensive lineman, so that helped him put up numbers. He also played in warm Florida unlike Brady playing in the cold up north region. There is absolutely ZERO chance he would win more that Tom Brady because he was a win by the sword fire by the sword gunslinger. He could never manage the game like Brady did. Hate Brady all you want but it’s extremely weak as a person to try and say all the stuff Brady accomplished would have easily been done by a lesser player than him. Marino all around out side of him amazing releasing was never ever the clutch player Brady was in the postseason! That’s what wins championships. Not gunslingers that come up small in the playoffs all the time.

    • @bostonkremer791

      Marino is a playoff choker and Brady was clutch performer in most of his playoff games, he choked far less than Marino. Stop comparing the two, Brady is far better than Dan Marino. 7 Superbowls > 0
