Paul Brown had FIFTEEN championships and is the only coach to win on THREE levels.
    1930--Severn Prep (Maryland) (high school)
    1935-1940--Massillon Washington (high school)
    1942--Ohio State (NCAA)
    1946-1949--Cleveland Browns (AAFC)

Paul Brown had the Cleveland Browns winning the NFL championship in their initial season in the NFL. I couldn't imagine what that in itself would do for a veteran league if that were to happen in today's world.

He had an entire franchise named after him. At least the Brown retained his name. He's truly the father of the pro game as we know it today.

The current AFC North all have ties to the original Cleveland Browns organization.
The Steelers history of being a perennial also ran ended with the Chuck Noll hiring. From a football perspective, their team philosophy has been exactly the same for 54 years. Since Noll’s retirement, the two head coaches have literally been motivators, not classic X’s and O’s guys
The Bengals were founded by Paul Brown, the original Browns Head Coach, as a response to him being pushed out of the organization by Art Modell.
The Ravens were obviously the original Browns.
Now can you show me otherwise how it isn’t🤔

    • @janconner2087
      @janconner2087 Před 5 měsíci

@@ragsixracing Also, we didn’t need much help to get a new franchise. Once the move was announced, within two weeks, the City of Cleveland secured in federal court the intellectual property of the Browns name and records. The people of Cuyahoga County voted to extend the Sin Tax by a 95%-5% margin and had the promise in place, along with Houston to have our teams back in the NFL.
Plus, the deal that Art Modell made with Baltimore effectively ended his career as a team owner so it was literally a win-win even though the franchise hasn’t developed an identity/philosophy until recently.
Now, I must say that I admire what the Steelers have done over my lifetime with their philosophy and traditions. But, I also know where it was originally from

Between 1950 & 1969 the Browns played in more NFL titles games (11) than any other team ever did during a 20 year time frame. They also played in 6 consecutive NFL title games (1950-55) & no other team ever played in more than 4 straight. Including their 4 seasons in the AAFC they played in 15 total championship games in 25 years, including 10 straight (1946-55). The 8 league championships won during those 25 years is more than any other pro team has ever won in a time frame of that length.

The two worst mistakes the Browns ever made:
    1. Modell prompting Jim Brown to retire after Modell threatened him with fines for not appearing on time for training camp. Had Modell been more lenient with the team's best player, Brown would have returned and the Browns would have most likely have defeated the Packers and gone on to win Super Bowl I.
    2. The Browns trading Paul Warfield to the Miami Dolphins in 1970. Beyond stupid. When Warflied left the team, the Browns were no longer an NFL championship contender, and Warfiield of course played an integral role in the Dolphins winning back-to-back Super Bowls.

Typos in my last post, but still understandable. Reading other posts. Most have the same sentiment as mine. As the presentation started, Browns/Cleveland/Dawg Pound all united with the team and city! We are one. Even when I lived in LA and elsewhere in my 75 years of life, I remained one with the Browns, win or lose. Thanks to those who drew up this history and posted it. Once again that final score was 59-14. The Browns we're actually three-point favorites entering the game, but the Lions scored two touchdowns in EACH quarter. So once again, that final score: DETROIT 59, Cleveland 14. LOL...
