Nubian was written in the Coptic alphabet, with vowels. So much better than the defective Arabic script. (And "defective" is a linguistic term not a value judgment.)
It's more of fun, actually he was sounding Arabic letters (appears as a stacked horizontal strings on the left) and numbers (appears as vertical enumeration on the right) aka Indian numbers... The numbers he reiterated later on are Nubian but the whole scene are Arabic letters and numbers with a mix of old vocals of Nubian He was actually enjoying the good people around him lol.. Since the Nubian language is so big to teach in such a hurry for bunch of happy looking tourists anyway...
I am Eritrean and I believe that your Nubian is similar to our Tigrigna language in Eritrea. We believe Noba is father of Nubians and the berbers are also the lost brothers to the west. We call them Deqi Lakundu. Nubians are Deqi Noba (Sons of Noba)

Is he speaking Nubian with some arabic or vice versa? I saw a comment saying he is speaking Arabic with some Nubian words thrown into the mix. Or is it that modern Nubian is a mixture of the languages vs Old Nubian or ancient Nubian, just curious?
manga4774 oh ok got it, amongst the Beri-Beri of the Sahel/Sahara (The Beri-beri is the word for Kanuri in the Hausa language), the name Manga is very common.
I must say that this a slang of the Nubian.. i think its kinzi or fadijja (Egyptian Nubian Slangs).. i am Nubian (Sudanese).. and we've three deferent slangs too!!.. but in general its the same! in both countries!!!
hello i was wondering if you know anything about the old nubian language. i am writing a book and would love to use it in some parts of the book but there isn't much that i know
I am looking for someone who could help me translate some things into old nubian language and also to educate me a little bit on the language itself. I am writing a book and would love to use this language in my writing. not too much but it adds to the backstory of my book. i would appreciate it very much. I am also doing my own research to find out as much as i can about it
Nubian and Coptic are very different languages. Coptic derives from ancient Egyptian with some Greek. Nubian is the language of the ancient Nubians of the south near Sudan and inside Sudan.
Not one african person in that audience these people take a liken to African culture but us why is that we have a proud history and culture we are the forerunners of civilization
He just stated he'd like to learn, he's probably African American himself. Chinese, I'm assuming, are learning it to do better business with different groups in Sudan. That said, I see no reason for Black Americans to learn it, because we have absolutely no connection to Sudan. Our ancestry is west and central African and even then we have little to no connection to those areas and people anymore.
silence in. the even black Yes that might be the case but if white people can claim all of Europe for their ancestry then you can do the same for Nubia. Westerners in Europe pride themselves on the accomplishments of the Greeks and Romans as part of their European heritage even though most of them are Anglo-Saxon and only emerged into greatness after the fall of the Roman empire and much later at that. Nubian history is African history therefore it does in fact belong to you. At the same time West Africa had many great kingdoms of its own such as those in the Sahel like Ghana and Mali and the forest kingdoms of Nigeria such as Ife and Benin.

There are different alphabets that they use. Anyway, many East Africans historically used a modified Arabic alphabet.

So is this old Nubian/Coptic Greek that is derived from demotic?
Nubian and Coptic are very different languages. Coptic derives from ancient Egyptian with some Greek. Nubian is the language of the ancient Nubians of the south near Sudan and inside Sudan.
I'm Nubian (north Sudan) my granparents come from a village called Abree. I don't speak a word of Nobiin
Then you are not one
Ignore the hater, Heema. My father is from a village called Masha-kayla, but I don't speak Nobiin (Rootana) either. We will learn one day.

number 10 he said teben somalis says number 10 toban
Somalis litteraly traced back to 5000bc.
So they are older than other african.
Also i think that some arab tribes are from somali ethnicity.
For High land nilotes number 10 is tomon.
And kalenjin in Kenya says taman
This is Arabic
It is a mix of both. Some of the words are NOT Arabic at all. Remember, they know Arabic more than Nubian, so he has to use Arabic. It's normal.
