Ice Water Woes - Question for Servers

Even if you don't plan on drinking the ice water, the cup it's in is going to need washed. From dishwasher perspective, an extra cup isn't much of a bother. Many people have tooth sensitivity or get cold easily (especially in a well air con'ed space), so making a request for just tap water without the ice or even hot/warm water doesn't seem odd from that standpoint. A simple "excuse me, sorry to bother..." bit should suffice for asking. If things are busy, I can guarantee you won't be the annoying person by asking for something small like that.

Can’t really give ya a response to your question but similarly, I usually request no water at the earliest chance I get.
