I love how he gave us a message map pitch at the end.
Yes!!!!
Thank you, sir! I just used this to make a message map for a video 30-40 second video to pitch myself. I'm making one for Graphic Design and one for Sales/Marketing.
The Message map - a powerful technique. I like it.
Thank you
Love this example. There's a Lush in my neighborhood and although it seems mostly geared toward women I've stopped in before and spoken to the employees all of whom seemed friendly.
This is really great -- I can't tell you how many times I've referred people to this video to help them distill their message down to its essence. I would love to be able to download a local copy... I'd even pay for it.
In the world of investment marketing it is very easy to get lost in the details. This is an EXCELLENT way to get to the heart of the conversation very quickly. Of course you need to assume that the conversation - for a relationship sales process - is going to extend longer than 15-30 seconds....but this gentleman's point is spot on....it is a summation of who you are, what you do, and how you want to be remembered. I am passing this onto my team. Thanks!
This video is amazing! I needed a short pitch for a business competition and this helped a lot :P
Very Informative!
That was great! Thank you. Makes things much simpler to understand fo sho!
This is awesome! THANKS!!!
Thanks! Helped me alot whilst pitching my own product. (:
I was watching Lush hauls and this was a suggested video. Im glad I watched this. I took up Marketing in college and this video helped me to refresh my memory. :)
Great! Good presentation which focused on features of the business. The whole video is focused on Lush handmade soaps and by single product you have shared so much information. This shows the creativity in you.
Imagine how many extraordinary ideas have gone unexplored simply because geniuses couldn’t express themselves. This message board is fantastic, and I need it!
9 years later and I'm still going back to this video.
great advise!!! thanks alot!
I found this to be super inspiring! Thank you!
very impressed with his presentation skills
That was lifechanging. Thank You!
Great! Thank you for your time to share this knowledge. Makes sense.
Love this video where you explain how to sell and pitching in under 30 seconds
Thank you, great lesson!
Great points. Thanks
Okay, I finish the rest. Thanks for the tips. Good stuff.
Great. Thank you.
Great resource. I used it to make my message map today.
Thank you. Very pinpointed.
outstanding brilliant thanks for sharing great ideas
Excellent
THANK YOU 🙏🏼!!!
Very good tool! And cuts to the chase.
Very interesting video, thank you!
good thanks!
Carmine Gallo Nice!! I totally dig this big time.....srsly all evening my hubby Gordon kept after me "Watch message maps video!""D'you watch it yet?!" "Leona please watch that video!!" I'm glad I did. Thanks for the awesome points Carmine! Cheers from Leona ||~_~||🤘
Hey, I remember this guy from ZDTV! He was one of my favorites.
Great stuff.
I am so impressed after watching this presentation. I learned a lot by just watching this video. Thanking you for teaching this skill.
amazing! thank you
Awesome
Very good!
I too had a thought pass through the snarky part of my mind--4 minutes plus to teach 15 second messaging? But I teach myself, and he's done a very good job with his exposition. If it were so easy, we wouldn't be watching the video. Now I'm off to streamline my messaging. Thanks Carmine.
Great video!
Good one just what I need for me bus. plan
in just 4 minutes and 34 seconed, I learned a lot!
I like it.
Great tips! Do you have a transcript for this?
15 seconds? 30 seconds? You had might as well made it an hour long. Customers in retail don't want to hear anything over 3-5 seconds, and that includes the "Hi, welcome to ..."
Very cool, quick, and creative guide from Carmine Gallo to creating a quick pitch (conversation starter, 30-second commercial, whatever you want to call it) using a #MessageMap.
Brilliant. I've always had a tendency to be too verbose, so it helps to find more concise ways to convey my key points.
I think what he's saying is that you should stick to the facts. If you throw facts at your customer they can't argue them...try it
Being Forbes how can you think of having a 4 & 1/2 mins video to illustrate a 15 seconds pitch. IRONIC
Thanks!!!! this is going to help me a lot in my sales development representative assessment!
can you make a video on how to pitch a town?
how would you pitch for cars and car finance?
The guys point is correct. If I entered that store and heard his pitch, I'd have a positive feeling and then checkout the soap and obviously realize its nice and good on my skin, like most natural soaps are. If I walked in and he started "Hi, all of our soaps are great on your skin and hypo-allergenic, and we care about your causes" id take it as a standard sales pitch, because even a 99cent bar of soap at walmart is expected not to freak my skin out. Version 1 is entertaining, v2 is sales copy.
A+ presenter
Thank you, I need to write my pitch for advanced Facials that I do!!! not good at writing any one can help
I think this works fine for retail, but I buy the idea that complex technologies need to be articulated down to a message map. Moving forward with a techology, e.g. narrowband to broadband means that you already understand the benefits, and the business case. If the responsible CIO doesn't, and he is looking for a Sales guy to explain it, then good luck to your business. Otherwise, nice. I like this.
This same format can work for creating videos for CZcams, where people have a short attention span and a wide choice of content. 15 seconds is all you get to make or break a video.
you need a tent map ;-)
Good Stuff!!!

I believe that the notebook was invented before the whiteboard. So it's more of a good ol' fashion notebook then whiteboard.
I believe trust and have complete Faith in Almighty God 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
Few work environment friendly Fresh ....
Message map -a great tool of elevator pitch!
nowadays, a company's professed values are incredibly important. there are companies i don't shop with because their values are not in line with mine. on some level, i think your sales training is outdated. if you look at companies like whole foods, lush, etc. their customer is as concerned about the impact of a product on them as they are the world. if you go into wf, you'll see campaigns/products for buying fair trade products and helping others globally. it's not purely about the product.
Every time this guy pronounces the letter "s", my eardrums feel like getting pierced. Apart from that, the video is good :)
luŠh
Why did it take 4;34 to pitch this video?
CunnningStunt Because he is not pitching in the whole video, he is explaining the technique. Besides that, if you pay attention, he pitches the idea of this video from second 3 to second 16. So he does pitch in even less than 15 seconds.
tviess I don't think he really wanted an answer :)
CunnningStunt haha it was exactly what I thought then saw yours and the dude under hahaha classic!
Preparation is the key, rehearsing, planning and information takes time to get together to be able to sell an idea in 15 seconds. Steve Job planned, rehearsed, refined until he had the perfect "spontaneous " pitch. Most won't take the time to get it right before meeting with someone
ron denhollander nailed it!
15.9
this went on for 18.33 times longer than it should have
I'm here for my communication 100 class😂😂
Good Job! Half the comments dont understand the power of communication.
2:40
pitch in 15 seconds...but then 30 seconds! which is it? It was easily understood and provided a very basic framework under pressure.
This should be called "How I done a pitch in 15sec" rather then "HOW TO PITCH"
Now can you explain this tutorial on 15 seconds?
Probably safe to assume that their market cares about fresh, environmentally-friendly soap. Also safe to assume that their market is interested in sharing proceeds with 'ethical campaigns.'
That's because, by being a soap, people EXPECT the soap to wash, as it is a value that has been attached to the word soap.
Actually he pitched you by the title and the first 12 seconds when he ended by referring to the message map...if you continued to watch the rest of the video, his job was done.
pro communication, anti-jargon and using a positive ethical product as an example.
1. Fresh / Env Friendly are not analogous to hypo-allergenic / "easy on skin".
2. "Fresh" is a market differentiator, whereas both hypo-allergenic and "easy on your skin" are sold by every cosmetics brand.
Salesman's Hands Syndrome..
But thank you for the info!!
Where do u write the MESSAGE MAP. If you are pitching it to a BUSINESS to participate in your program to get customers. You are a middleman?
All well and good, but most people (as store associates) would feel awfully awkward and robotic saying all that to someone who just walks in the store. I know I as a customer would feel awkward listening to that manufactured line first thing when I walk in. Kinda highlights the fundamental disconnect between these management types and real-world people/customers. If you want to connect with customers, you can't toss manufactured lines at them that sound good on paper - you have to act casual. Act like you're a real person just like the customer is. The only difference between you and the customer is that you're there to tell them what they need to know about soap.
That´s a very thoughtful comment! Do you think that in apple stores you get exactly this casualty?
Very good, solitary! Come join my team and we'll do some natural selling :))
qbulb Haha, I'm not a salesman type. I don't have the personality for it.
I agree with the premise of what you said. Robotic scripting when pitching, especially on the phone, immediately puts people off. People aren't interested in you, their interested in themselves. How does Lush help me stay clean and smell nicer than a normal product. My opinion on the matter is, especially in modern times, as sales professionals we should concentrate on the personal 'you', rather than the traditional stereotypical 'you'.

..if you used a product that increased your gas mileage by 20% and more, and if it caused you to pass an emissions test after you had failed, and increased horse power of your engine, would you tell your buddies about it? Let me put it this way: would you brag to your buddies about it? That's what selling is ..it is simply telling. Contact me at >> L9info at Yahoo com and you can check it out. Maybe you can just be a customer :))
I've never spelled campaigns "CAvpAiuns"
Lol
where was the pitch here...??
@ 2:38 - in 15 sec
Guess the people expecting a quick fix...were disappointed
rewind to 2:38
Yeah, now I have the strong desire to never, ever get anywhere near any of that soap. Just something about overly aggressive marketing.
Why do you write in both caps and small letters???
Someone can type with 30 second pitch with 2nd supporting points
This is how to "feature blast" in 15 seconds not how to communicate the benefit. At the end you talk about this helps you communicate the BENEFIT of your product or service and yet in your example you don't manage to communicate any benefits at all. In effect here you are showing people how to list the features of their product in a convenient hierarchy...! Good Grief Charlie Brown....
Single Minded Proposition.... Great video... Using Twitter 140 characters to set a boundary to the message... I like that!!! That's in the bank now... Thanks,.
Hey guys if you enjoyed this video I just saw a video about "improving your sales pitch(elevator pitch)" on another channel. I think if you found this useful youll find that one useful as well.
Heres the link czcams.com/video/RCofe60ogh4/video.html
"Ingredients not tested on animals. We test our products exclusively on human orphans, what're they going to do, complain to their parents?"
Capture the idea folks; don't get caught in UPPER-lower case, 15 secs-4.x mins. (Now that's less than 140 char, right!)
Lush ad
Message map but not a pitch
Isn't it ironic that a video on forbes, an organization that one associate with the rich and the powerful, is made with horribly echoing audio, barely visible words on the whiteboard and in general feels like something he threw together with a webcam during a coffee-break... These guys, if anyone should know that impression is one of the most important things to remember...
Maybe it was meant to be casual, or maybe they didn't want to spend tons of time and energy giving you FREE advice.
No, that's not irony.
