Aloha aunty! My mom used to make miso salmon and butterfish when I was a kid. Always my favorite. I never knew this recipe was so simple! Wish I knew this recipe a lot sooner. Mahalo for your channel for those of us who have moved out of our Hawai'i home.

just curious (somewhat silly Q's)...
1. can you cook anything with the scraped off miso paste (soup?), or reuse it to marinate? or simply toss it away?
2. what if i use red miso for the marinade paste?
2a. what are the diff color miso best combos with (what do they go well with)?
Be creative, use the scrapings for anything or you can leave the miso on. Use other misos, may be stronger and have a saltier taste. White miso is a little sweet and mild and is fermented for shorter periods than the others. It is used for soups, marinades and dressings. Red miso is made with more soybeans and is fermented for longer periods so it is saltier. Usually used for stews and winter dishes because of the stronger flavors.

I just cooked furekake salmon in the Instant Pot last weekend. Will the miso salmon recipe work in the pressure cooker?
