Tom Hardy, His Adorable Dog, and Andy Serkis Discuss Venom 2

- With Venom: Let There Be Carnage opening in theaters October 1st, I recently got to speak with Tom Hardy and director Andy Serkis about making the sequel. While I was looking forward to talking with the two of them, things got even better when I entered the virtual room and saw Hardy’s adorable dog Blue sitting on his lap. If you didn’t know, Hardy loves animals, and the second I saw his dog I knew it was going to be a good interview.
During the conversation, Hardy and Serkis talked about why Blue didn’t have a role in Venom 2, how Hardy got his first writing credit on the Venom sequel, and they broke down how they filmed the apartment fight in the beginning of the film where Eddie Brock and the Venom symbiote get into a heated battle. While Hardy can sometimes be brief when answering a question, I’m going to give all the credit to Blue for his extremely thorough response.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage is about Eddie Brock (Hardy) trying to get his career back on track by interviewing serial killer Cletus Kasady (Woddy Harrelson) as a favor to the San Francisco police. Unfortunately, Cletus Kasady becomes the host of the symbiote Carnage and escapes prison after a failed execution. Venom 2 also stars Michelle Williams, Naomie Harris, Reid Scott, and Stephen Graham. The film was written by Kelly Marcel, based on a story she wrote with Hardy.
Watch what Tom Hardy and Andy Serkis had to say above and below is exactly what we talked about.
Tom Hardy and Andy Serkis
Tom introduces his dog Blue.
How come Blue didn’t have a role in Venom 2?
What does it mean to Hardy top have his first writing credit on the Venom sequel?
They talk about filming the apartment fight sequence towards the beginning of the film where Eddie Brock and Venom fight each other.

The way Blue is gazing lovingly at Andy confirms my suspicion that Andy is a genuinely nice person
Either that or he knows he's a shapeshifter 👻
SII 💕 Blue stole the show
@@samanthab1923 blue yes sitting on his lap
Absolutely...dogs are great judges of character.
I can’t help but think Andy and Blue are communicating at a different level than the rest of us…
Blue got brothers who else should receive a gift ❤
Get someone who gazes at you like Andy Serkis gazes at Blue!
And then get you a dog who looks at you the way Blu looks at Andy, lol
I did but she escaped!
Oh my gawdddddd😍😍😍
Andy Serkis always struck me as one of the most genuinely good people in Hollywood.
He is!
@person person right😂
That Armenian blood 🩸
He’s not from, nor in hollywood. What are you talking about?
@@leandrobatt8122 Hollywood refers to actors that play in high budget movies in the western world, you nob.
I swear Andy doesn't take his eyes off Blue.
He likes looking people in the eyes when they're talking
HE CONSTANTLY STUDIES DOGS FOR HIS NEXT ROLE AS A DOG IN THE MOVIE DOG
1.03 he does
I would do the same with Blue.
Man he really cares about his dog
Search out the beautiful remembrance Tom wrote for his dog Woody when he passed away a couple of years ago. Tom's also an official ambassador for the Battersea Dog and Cat Home in London. And he's a vegetarian.
Every man and woman should really care about his animal
Social anxiety
@@Roman-tu3vh or their own
@@Nephilimfields Tom's a vegetarian?😯
There was only one thing on Andy's mind about Blu thru out the interview..."my precious"...
Was thinking the same thing myself hahaha
This comment deserves more likes imo
🤣🤣🤣that cracked me up! love it!
Andy gazing at both Blue and Tom while they're talking is so calming.
I love how Andy was looking at Blue while Tom was answering questions
Toms dog is like "Andy, if they make a film about Tom, I want you to play me"
Blue's pet human makes great movies!
I can't tell if Andy is mesmerised looking at Tom's dog or if he's looking at Tom himself.
I really hope it’s the dog
Yes
This is the most comfortable I’ve seen Tom Hardy in an interview, you can tell he’s really passionate about the character.
and hsi dog.
I love how Andy is looking at Tom like a father looking at his son
at Tome? He's clearly looking at blue :D
I think they are like 10 years apart only
Andy's only 13 years older than Tom so maybe less father and son and more big brother energy, mate.
I love how Tom Hardy has 'hijacked' Eddie Brock in the same way that Robert Downey Jr 'hijacked' Tony Stark, or how Alfred Molina 'hijacked' Doctor Octopus adding more to the character and making it far more interesting and three dimensional as a result. Very few actors can do this. They're an elite few. I don't want to see anyone else doing this role.
Tom also hijacked Venom, I was surprised to hear he is the voice of Venom, but that is one of the reasons I fell in love with the character.
I wished he was more like comics Eddie Brock
I don't think you need to over complicate it lol, that's kinda what happens when you return to a role you were cast in 🤷
No for Downey Jr. I vastly prefer the old Iron Man over the MCU one. The others I am fine with but I am not calling them superior or inferior.
@@saidi7975 you're in a tiny minority unfortunately
would be funny if eddy brock got a dog and venom goes like "ARGH SO CUTE CAN'T EAT"
Get Blue in Venom 3!!! For cryin out loud!
Blue is staring at Alfred. So adorable
I just look at Andy Serkis throughout this video. He's like this really kind Uncle. And I can't imagine he's the same guy who played Klaue in BP, sitting in the interrogation chair singing What Is Love
He was also Smeagol in Lord of the rings, and Caesar the ape from the planet of the Apes movie remake, and was also Spike,(one of the bad guys in Flushed Away).
@@kevinskywalker5539 Ah, didn't know he was in flushed away. I think the reason Klaue feels so different to me is because he was playing quite a tough guy who was also off the rails. He was also quite muscular too.
@person person that is part of it, but I've seen him in minor roles before and the difference is his personality in BP
What’s BP?
@@TheHulksMistress Black Panther
The way they talk about this movie honestly gives me high hopes for it: you got a director who seems to be really passionate about what he’s doing and was actually excited to sign on, and you got the lead actor working one on one with the writer, and keep in mind a lot of the good stuff in Venom 1 was Hardy’s idea, like the lobster tank scene
2 of the best actors ever.
Agree, Woody will also kill it as Carnage imo
Two of my favorite actors of all time with one of the cutest dogs I’ve ever seen!
Also, PLEASE give us Taboo season 2!
Dude, you read my mind.both actors are my fav characters.
I am so ready for another Tom Hardy with dogs era.
The world needs it.
By Golly, that dog is majestic.
Love the passion but Andy Serkis smiling as Blue just keeps looking at him is just ❤️😂
Ohh That’s Blue has Tail
From woody to blue, Tom always have the best behaving dogs. I believe it’s the way he loves them. ❤️
Tom Hardy is definitely one of the most beautiful man alive but I just couldn't stop looking at Blue)) Such a beautiful boy
Andy Serkis gazes at Blue
Internal monologue: My preeeeciiioooouuuusss...🤣
Andy is just lovingly looking into Blue's eyes 😭😭
I love how Tom's dog stares at Andy the entire time!
Glad to see that the dog was introduced ahead of Serkis
Tom Hardy looks like a rugby player…a tough visage with a genteel persona. Oh and Andy Serkis has a great head of hair! I wish I were so lucky 👨🦲 😆
Back in the days of myspace, Tom had an account there and posted about finding an abandoned kitten while filming in (I think) Prague. He'd go around asking people if they knew the kitten, or if it was theirs, and when no human claimed the poor thing, he took it to his hotel room, fed it, bathed it and combed it (it had a lot of fleas). He couldn't adopt the kitten, because he was afraid his dog might not get on with the little feline ("My dog's gonna eat the cat!" he wrote jokingly), so one of the film crew ended up adopting it. My point is: Tom is an absolute cinnamon roll!
@@gozerthegozarian9500 great story! He seems to be a genuinely sweet guy.
Blue just keeps gazing into Andys soul lol 😂
Blue is precious and I love him already.
this is nearly 7 minutes of Andy smiling at Blue
Lol loving the staring contest between Andy Serkis and Blue!
God tom Hardy is gorgeous & so is his dog.
I wanna see blue make a cameo 😂😂
Yes 👍🏻
blue Does She appeared in venom let there carnage yes 😻
A spinoff movie for Venom 3 would be Tom Hardy's Blue and Tom Holland's Tess showdown. 🤣🤣
YOU'RE MY BOY, BLUE!!
Glad you brought up Taboo season 2. At least we know its coming. I've watched the first season 3 times now. Hope he do another Mad Mad movie too.
Blue is such a good boy.
I love how toms picked up a northern accent with some words because of his wife
i think that dog's got a venom
that is why he loves Tom Hardy
So cool how they wanted to keep it real some parts and not depend on the CGI
Blue is staring at Andy thinking "dude, were you Gollum?"
Andy Serkis is THE most underrated famous person in the world of cinema!! Dude is a Legend.
I've always wanted a dog like Blue. So freaking cute!
Best combo ever Tom Hardy and a french bulldog!😍
Ah yes, my 2 favorite things...Tom Hardy and French Bulldogs~ 🥰
I was wondering what kind of dog he was, I thought he was a bit too big to be a frenchie thought maybe he was a different kind of bulldog?
@@tylerfreeman6420 I dunno, I've seen some that were pretty big...
I have a Boston Terrier/French Bulldog mix and apparently, his father (who was a Frenchie) was HUGE...
Blue is a French Bulldog
THANK YOU for addressing Taboo season 2....I HOPE this frees up his schedule finally to pursue it...
This dog is living his best life🐶🐶🐶❤❤❤
Andy just lovingly looking at blue ❤️❤️
Could listen to them for 70 minutes. No work took place during filming, they had a ball 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
that dog is giving me life
Blue face looks adorable 🥰
She Stole The Show
Andy just looking at blue in the entire time 🥲
Wow Blue was really mesmerised by Andy
I LOVE Blue!!! 😀😍🤩❤🐕🐶
Love that he is so involved
Blue kinda looks like venom as a dog in the comics lol
I'm not evening listening to anything being sad I'm just looking at doggie
I'm waiting for this movie because of stephen graham aka pat mulligan aka Toxin he is my favorite actor and his character is my favorite in this movie 💓👍🔥😀🌍👑✌️💓
Best Al Capone role ever was with Stephan nice to see him in Venom
I love Stephen Graham too! Him & Tom Hardy are two of my favourite actors, the fact that Stephen has a very thick Liverpudlian accent yet can do a perfect American accent is so amazing to me 🥰
Blue is shy.
Great question! I’m also waiting on Taboo
Blue is so cutee so patient
A reaction to a kind voice or face even warm person
Mister Charisma and Perfection Edward Thomas Hardy.❤❤❤
I don't know if it's going to be a hit with the epidemic but seems like an improvement from the first one ( that i like a lot).
Andy and dog constantly looking at each other.
We need a special again of Tom at Battersea dogs home.
Amazing how they make films XXX
Blue haven't taking his eyes of the other man ....& he tells Tom you've stopped smoothing me down lol XXX
3:30 onwards, stare off competition! Andy vs Dog 🤣🤣
Top blokes... loved venom 1 .... Andy rocked in tin tin ....
Awesome
Blue is so chill.
Andy and blue had a staring contest 💀💀
i can feel tom petting me
I forgot about Taboo. That's such a good show 😩
Andy Serkis should play Emperor Vitiate in the new Starwars Old republic movies. Tom could play one of the twins.
I can’t focus on the actual words cause all I look at is Andy Serkis and Blu’s staring contest
Woof! Gunna have to find more of my pack!
that's such a beautiful dog!
We want Blue in Venom 3.
Does Serkis think he’s having a conversation with the dog? Poor guy
That dog is gorgeous!
Andy has a George Lucus vibe going on.
The doggo is mesmerised by Andy!! 😅😅
Plot twist: That dog is Venom
toms clever, pull out the dog and the fans wont care what you say
RIP BEAUTIFUL BOY.SORRY WHAT HUMANS DID TO YOU💌💌💌💌💌💌💌💌EVERYONE SUPPORT ANIMAL EQUALITY ,HOWEVER SMALL.
nice ! good size for a french bulldog . I hope the movie collects well .
I like how in the title they mention the dog before the other dude
I'm jealous of this lucky dog
Love Serkis and Hardy, but the highlight of the clip has to be the figures of Mazinga and Gaiking in the background.
French Bulldogs are awesome.
Blue is cute
With each passing year Andy Serkis is looking more and more like Gollum
Hah
Has anyone noticed that Andy Serkis is wearing the same sweater to all press junkets? Check it out!!
2:07 - Tom Hardy - the next Bond.
Cast him, or not, it's their choice, but.. I am right about it.
Tom Hardy - is the next Bond.
