His tactics are so so so so transparent to anyone with actual critical thinking skills. Within the first 40 seconds he proved he has absolutely no clue in the slightest about what Jihad is for as much as he talks about it. Bassem is a good guy and I’m with him on the current plight of the Palestinians…however, he and many others get questions like this dodge the real issue in Islam. “Nit picking.” There are a number of Muslim theocracies around the world who have set back their citizens progression by decades maybe even centuries.
It’s not a distraction. It’s a real issue that Islam has to face

I’m an ex-Muslim, an anti-Islamist and an anti-theist. It’s easy to recognize that there is a problem with Islam and I don’t think Bassim is an actual Muslim himself. He is a smart secular physician but he is not there to shit on Muslims and their faith. It’s just not the time. It’s just not the time just like it would be inappropriate to talk about how evil and racist the God of the Old Testament is during the holocaust. You know what I mean?
And like what islamic theocracies exactly? Saudi Arabia? UAE? Qatar? Do they "not progress" ? And didn't Iraq and Libya actually did better in the past until like western invasion?
And Indonesia, a country with most muslim population, have 2 biggest islamic organization, NU and Muhammadiyah, did you know that Muhammadiyah actually build so much hospitals, universities, and other good stuff? I bet you didnt know, because what in your mind when it comes to islamic organization is always, Taliban, Al-Qaeda , ISIS etc

To prove that so called violent terrorism isn’t due to a problem with Islamic theology and law look at how much violence comes form and out of Muslim countries that are economically and socially stable (ie not in war or being invaded by western nations). The amount of violence and terrorism coming from those nations is dwarfed by the terrorism of non Muslim nations
Furthermore worldwide studies were done and Islamic terrorism only accounted for less terrorism proportions to the number of Muslims in the world compared to everyone else however it received 449% more media coverage
