In Southeast Asian, the homeland of this thing, it is called Arwana. Literally without "o" but there must be a matter of easier pronunciation for native English speakers.
The "Ar-" is just like when you say "Argh" when you impersonate pirates but with shorter breath, then add it with "-wana" which sounds like "wanna". That's the original pronunciation.

I grew up with an Arowana my grandfather kept. It started out a few inches long and by the time I was in my 20s that fish was about 5 feet in length. It lived at the FW zoo once it was too big for my gf's tank. We were amazed it lived longer than it's normal lifespan, and grew a bit larger as well. If you ever went to the Fort Worth zoo and saw the arowana with one eye turned downward, that was the fish I grew up with. :)
Arowanas max out at 36 inches.

breeders def get bad reps because of a few bad apples but this guy is genuinely in love with the animals and has passion that's rare. I feel like even if these fish weren't worth 10+ grand he'd still be doing the same thing. Respect for someone doing it right, very clean and legit.

@@kuatiogui Silver arowana and jardini arowana are both legal in the us, just not the asian species. I am not sure where aquarium co op is located, or wich type he keeps, but his friends at KG tropicals have silver arowana. The King of Diy lives in Canada, where asian arowana are legal.
