Let's visit the 2023 CIPS Global Arowana Championship! Arowana are known as "dragon fish" because of their large shiny scales, long serpent-like body, and whiskers around their mouth. Cory shows us arowana of every color and scale pattern imaginable - including brilliant gold, blood red, and steel blue. Plus, they had other championships going on at the same time, like datnoid tiger fish and aquascaping contests.

First pin maybe?
What gorgeous specimen!
That long finned one looked like it was walking...and it's fins seemed almost transparent.
There really is no question why arowanas are associated with wealth and riches. Absolutely beautiful! I had never heard of long-finned arowanas before.
So happy you are making these trips and share the experience with us!
All I could think of when I saw the title was a larger version of Betta fight club 😂
That’s exactly what I said to myself then I saw your comment. They produce enough now I’d assume to legalize don’t you think 🤔
Those long fin arowanas look like a straight-up dragon 🤯
It’s called 龙鱼 for a reason
The dragon fish👌🏻
That long fin is incredibly beautiful but such a noticeable impact to his swimming
I guess it helps that it never has to swim very far
I was thinking the same thing. I don’t like selective breeding to the point where it impacts the fishes mobility so much.
You see that a lot with Bettas and Angelfish too, years of selective breeding to get those long beautiful fins. But they end up hurting the fishes ability to swim, especially with old age
Wow! Very impressive 😀 I've never seen so many good looking Arowana! Much appreciated!
My local fish store use to keep one of these in a large circular tank and it was perfect for viewing it.
I was in Guangzhou in 2005. My friends that I stayed with brought me to the aquarium district. I had no idea they were bringing me thier. It was great. Thanks for sharing.
My grandpa used to own a huge silver dragon fish. When my consin was 3, he wanted to pet the big fish, and then he fell into the huge tank. 🇨🇳❤
It's crazy to think how they move then, from tank to tank, and all their fins were perfect. You'd think the fins would be beat up from moving. They got net skills!
Net and wrap them in the netting so they can't thrash about. Some use towel contraptions.
From the professional side we used specialized bag nets, essentially a giant plastic bag with a small amount of fine rubberized mesh at the end. Super slow movements is key. Bag net into big bag while in the tank. Only way to limit the thrashing.
They used anesthetic while moving them
wonder if they use koi sock nets
We dont use nett moving arowana. Nett will broke fins and tail. They normally guide them into plastic beg and transfer together with some water..
Some impressive Arrawana there! Looks a great day! Enjoyed watching
Wow, the long-finned ones really look like giant bettas. Wish I could keep one.
They really do. Giant water puppies 😊
Only 100k buck
I highly recommend reading "The Dragon Behind the Glass" by Emily Voigt to learn more about this fish and some of the crazy stuff that goes on to acquire and breed them.
Thanks for the info!
I never knew they come in such a variety!!
Yes that book was SO good!
Loved that book. hahaha I actually just commented the same thing before seeing you already had!
Never been a fan of long fin fish but the Arowana is definitely 1 that can pull it off , has always been my dream fish to have a high quality dragon if I ever came in to a load of money
Love this!!! Thank you for the content
Wonder how much your social credit goes up for owning one of these.
wow those are incredible fishes thank you for sharing with us!
Thanks for allowing us to see these amazingly beautiful fish
Wow another good one! Thanks for going all the way to China so we could see this.🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟😎
Amazing video, thanks for posting it.
Arowana Super Red From West Kalimantan - Indonesia😍❤️🇮🇩
Thank you for sharing!
Those look stunning!!
I LOVE fish shows. It gives us an idea of the more perfect representatives of type and conformation, and what to strive for in breeding.
Wow wow wee!! ❤🫶
Man I would love to go there and see that in person! Those are the most beautiful fish in the world
I lived in Taiwan for two years and I miss seeing Arowana all the time. Very cool book called "Dragon Behind the Glass" by Emily Voight. Talks about the infamous Asian Arowana and their origins, thefts, and alure. Highly recommend.
Those long fin ones look like they have painted cheeks. Reminds me of the historic dancers with the long sleeves. Thanks for sharing these gorgeous fish Cory! 🙏🏽💗
so honor to own a couple chilli red in the early 90 as a young teen, had a good friend who own a shop in Cali who took the risk to sell me one. It was like Christmas every weds new exotic shipment. 😁 so heart broken when he sold his shop early 2000. Thank you Mr tong!
That butterfly arowana is the most amazing thing I've seen!
nice thanks for the video
Please bring up more from that trip.
Beautiful fish , thanks
Awesome video bro thank you for this
Those are some beautiful fish!
That was incredible.
Wow! 😱 Amazing! 🤯
Wow that one with a long tailed and fins is the over all champ, so rare beautiful breeds and the color combination is amazing!💗🙂
Good lord! That aro at the 5:20 mark os STUNNING!!!
Super cool !
Your fish is amazing
Very nice
AMAZING 😳😲😀👍🏻❤️
The holy grail of the hobby!
Beautiful fish. Crazy to believe that people could just steal a fish that big at an event that seems so big.
What ? Nobody is going to steal a 3 foot long fish good luck trying😅
The red/orange/silver one with fins like a Beta is simply MAGNIFICENT! As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
They are so majestic!
and an endangered species
@@heaven7360 Unfortunately.
So pretty Arowana 😮😮
Amazing fish
welcome to china, hope you will enjoy the trip here.
I grew up going to a sweet pet storein San Diego that had large arowanas on display. I worked in the high end aquarium trade for nearly 10 years and never met anyone who had 1 in their tanks. I almost bought 1 a few times but such a big investment in time money and space.
Wow that was insane. Cory. Especially that last one and textured one, what is that thing at the end of their mouth? And does it work like barbels of a Corydoras? Thanks mate, from Australia.
I have a off topic question. Can you grow dwarf hair grass under water? I'm starting a planted tank and in some spots the substrate dips and the water has covered the seeds. It's been 2 days and I hope I haven't screwed up lol
Wow amazing fish
Love the gold with purple base stunning
I would to get one of them here in the US! Love the colors
Wow impressive ❤
They're so calm, I wonder if they have a method of achieving such calmness? My aros flip out when I walk by the tank!
Was thinking about how calm they are too. I hope they don't mix anything into the water 😕
I wonder if they get used to being "displayed" and being around a lot of people and being transported so much, so it doesn't really bother them.
Great impressions thanks for sharing 🫶
On the filters do guys bring there own live media or they just start from new and hope ammonia stays low.?
Wow… looking at the thumbnail/starting shot, I just realized that arawana are just gigantic betta! 😉
indonesia pride...SUPER RED AROWANA DRAGON 🔥
5star slayer Golden Red Aro.. superb...
Arowana from Indonesia is the best 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
Like real life pokemon, especially that super long finned guy. Unreal.
That bettawana is the cooooooolest fish i ever saw 😍😮😍
Amazingly beautiful fishes. Living treasures. Asian arowana have fetched up to $300k at auction.
Long fin red dragon... I'm impressed.
that dragon is majestic
We finally found the last evolution to betta fish. 😂
👍. Amazing
If you had a 2.5 by 1.5 by 1.5 ft tank, then what species of fish would you like to add and by what quantity?
wow nice long fin arowana😊😊😊
The arowana with the very long butterfly like fins - to me its what a betta would look like if it was the size of a large koi. I normally don't care for arowanas since they are high maintenance and take up a lot of space, but for a specimen like that, I'd be tempted to have an arowana tank if I had the money and and space for it.
The long fins are impressive but I also feel bad for the guys, that's so much weight and you can tell moving around takes more out of them than the rest
Arowanas are so beautiful
"Babe there's a cory video again!!"
This is arowana from Indonesia is the best! Champion 🇲🇨🇲🇨
woww they're so beautiful arowana...
Ehhh, not my thing, I'd rather have a neon tetra school...! Thanks, keep up your awesomeness and go enjoy some nature today...! Don't forget to compliment someone today...
That Longfin Arowana is sweet!!! 🥰😍 🤤 😊
Wow😮❤
How did people react to the long fin enteries?
amazing arwana super red from indonesia 😍😍
holy, that looked like an arowana and a betta had a baby.
Arowanas are considered the re-incarnation of the dragon. Red for fortune in the home, Gold for success in business, and not sure what the Green is all about!!
How the champion is selected, do they fry the fish and winner is selected according to taste?
Amazing! It's also funny how us human like animals in the shape or form that would never survive in the wilderness😂
Waw Amazing ,
Another pro of living in Canada for me is I can aquire these lol
The security wow
I had a silver arowana named Groucho Marx and he'd play "fetch" with a ping pong ball
Super Red Arowana originally from West Kalimantan, Indonesia
That long fin looked like a giant Beta..
The United States SHOULD REMOVE the restriction on Asian arowanas imports since they are not endangered species anymore!!!
5:45 beautiful
LEGALIZE AROWANA
Agreed....foolish people making foolish decisions. There's no valid reason for the ban. Especially as the fish are captive bred and therefore not harming nature's balance or resources.
No
Agree but Asian arowana!
@@Apriliars I understand your point of view in so far as moderately priced fish are concerned, however even lesser quality Asian arowana will be too costly for a buyer to simply carelessly dispose of.
@@michaela-be4le until there not , they’ll be quickly breed n the culls chucked in the pond
Wooww arwana super red Fromm Indonesia 🙏
Please come to Indonesian Super Red Arowana Contest especially in borneo island, the place where those fish came from😊
