Total Gym Xtreme Review - watch BEFORE you buy! (HONEST REVIEW)

  • TO EVERYONE WHO LIKED THE VIDEO: Thank you, sincerely. I really appreciate you helping me shine a light on what a complete waste of money the Total Gym Xtreme is so others don't get duped into buying it. The Total Gym Extreme is a travesty to fitness equipment...another sad example of how the rich profit off the ignorant.
    This is a review of the Total Home Gym Xtreme home gym from #Costco & #Walmart. The only honest review on CZcams. This thing is truly terrible considering the cost. Quickly scanned the reviews before buying...seemed ok. WRONG. The Total Gym Xtreme is a Total waste of money, even under lock-down. Save your money. Buy a chin up bar or dumbbells. Total cash grab. The thing collapses.
    Is the video perfect? Hell no. It was the third video I've ever made. Relax and stop telling me what a shitty job I did because I know. It's still a better job than Total Gym did designing this this Xtreme piece of garbage.
    UPDATE: I am SHOCKED by all the people who actually think this abomination of a machine is worth more than $50. It's unbelievably saddening that people will believe the marketing and think something like this is going to get them in shape. There is just no way. You could use this machine for years and get no results. If you bought this thing you should try and get your money back as soon as possible. You were scammed. If you dislike this review you should have your mental faculties assessed by a professional as soon as possible. Have fun wearing 2 masks while driving alone in your car.
    *The target demographic of the Total Gym Xtreme seems to be geriatric folks. I had not considered that this lot would even be capable of using CZcams and or willing to angrily refute a negative review. Well I hate to burst your bubble grandma and grandpa but the Total Gym Xtreme you bought is a piece of shit. Hire a personal trainer and start a real work out program if you want real results because you're never going to get in shape using this infernal contraption. Sincerely just trying to help. Save your slings, arrows, negative comments and dislikes. I'll just delete them and don't give a single fuck what you think. If you actually believe the total gym xtreme is a well made effective piece of equipment worth $429 you're a moron and your opinion is worthless.
    Dislike this video all you want, I speak the truth and I'm helping people avoid wasting their money like you did.
    Cheers.
    #TotalGymXtreme

    Thanks for the honest review. I had something similar about a decade ago, I used it only as an upper body/core training supplement to bike commuting and long distance cycling, and it was enough of a workout to give me a bit of arm and core strength/tone and keep me from looking like the offspring of a T-Rex and a kangaroo. Was thinking of getting this (Costco), but I was looking for online reviews and saw yours first, and you’ve definitely spooked me…
    I appreciate the scope of enthusiastic (even gleeful) contempt for this piece of… “equipment.” Your complete commitment to trashing the Total Gym Xtreme, insulting its mama and all those associated with its creation or promotion is profound. I wish I could be this earnest and passionate about anything in my life. You, Sir, are an inspiration. I doff my hat.

      I have not tried either so I can't comment on those. I tried a few more similar machines to no avail and instead just went with a bench, kettle bells and free weights. Nice to be back in the regular gym now!

      Great question! I assume you're looking for some type of resistance training equipment in order to build muscle as all your other machines are cardio focused? If this is the case and you have $500 or so, adjustable dumbbells hands down are the most bang for your buck and versatile.

      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Před 3 lety

      Make sure you try it out first before you buy to see if you like it. Super mixed reviews. Half of the people love it and the other half (like me) found it to be very low quality and not useful for working out. The consensus seems to be you have to get the more expensive model, although there is a comment on here from a bodybuilder and he seems to be making it work for him. Either way I wish you all the best in your search for good equipment and thank you for commenting!

      Pull-up dip station is way better value for your money, excellent call. Wish I'd have recommended that in the video that's actually brilliant. man...i was wanting to get it mainly for pull-ups to help scale up....get n like 12 pull-up reps...then super-set it right after by using the the total gym & getting the last few reps n on negs ...cuz the angle seems 2b bout 60% of the body weight....thats all i was wanting it for mainly....

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Před 3 lety

      It would be perfect for that purpose and that's exactly what I'm using it for too. If you do negative reps like you said it is possible to get a pretty good burn in the lats. Once it gets too easy for you you could throw on a weighted vest too. You're exactly right it feels like about 60% body weight at the highest angle so it's just like doing assisted chins at the gym.

    That thing looks crap. I have a total Gym Fit and I rate it pretty highly, I have actually got a lot stronger from it and lost quite a bit of weight. Apart from being built better and to be honest safer from what I can see, on the Fit you can also slide a weight bar through the bench slide at the bottom so you can add weights or resistance bands to up the resistance which obviously takes it to the next level. I would avoid this Xtreme thing, I can tell from this video it is cheap, limited and potentially dangerous - Total Gym just should not make it.

    It has more to do with the model you bought than the Total Gym in general. I have an 11000 which is a commercial version. I have had it since 2006. It is a beast. It works perfectly. If I had $500 to spend, I would advise someone to by a very used 11000 or high end model as opposed to a new low end model. It is like owning an old Corvette instead of a new cheap Ford car.
    The Total Gym Models I have seen at Sporting good stores are junk. They look like other models but do not perform anywhere close to them.

      Agree 100%. Thank you for the insightful comment this is great information for anyone considering one of these. Spend the extra money on the higher end model!!

    It depends on what you are looking for. I have a bar bell & dumbells and it takes up rooms. So I got the Weiders body works for $99, which I saw recently for $70. It is actually better build than the Total Gym but it was bulky, hard to adjust and around 80 lbs. As such I just left it lying around and hardly fold it up.
    Then I saw the Total Gym 1100 for $125 and I bought it. It weights around 50 lbs and was easy to fold up. So now I use it and fold it up after use in 30 seconds. It's not lying around taking up room like the Weider Body works or the Bar Bell.
    I would not spend the high price for the other models of Total Gym and would rather get those cheap resistance band than paid those high prices. But at $125 for my Total Gym 1100, it was worth it.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Před 3 lety

      Absolutely. The Total Gym 1100 is a great model, especially at $125, what a deal! The higher end models are good, but this cheap Walmart version is not even close. If you're going to get a sliding board workout station spend the extra money and get a high end model like you did. Or try and find a great deal on a used one like you did. Thank you for your comment!

      @@TheLastHonestInfluencer It was a deal on Amazon for Amazon prime member only. I pay $120 a years for membership with Amazon. However they no longer have that deal but I think they have other deals, however not as good as the one I got.
      I use the Total Gym 3 times a weeks. But it was worth the money I spent.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Před 3 lety +2

      Man I tried! On this exact machine the cables and pulley were connected by a bolt that would have needed to be unthreaded with a wrench. I read the manual and I couldn't find any instructions on how to do it otherwise so it just seemed impractical. I sold it now so I can't confirm. Is there a quick release or something that I missed? Honestly that feature would have made it so much more practical. To be fair I was annoyed with the thing and gave up looking pretty quick it's possible that I missed the instructions or didn't see an easier way to unattach it. I hear on the more expensive models it's quite easy. It's my fault for buying the cheap one from Walmart.

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Před 3 lety

      Hi Jodie thank you for your comment. I returned the machine. There are way better ways to get a quality workout. I find doing body weight exercises (squats, push-ups and pull-ups) gives me a way better workout than using this machine did. I would highly recommend doing those 3 movements over using the Total Gym Xtreme for anyone. If you aren't strong enough to do those three things there are ways to make them easier in the beginning and you can work up to doing them unassisted. Just my opinion I'm sure people will disagree with me. But they are the ones faffing around on this machine not getting results so you can have honesty or you can kid yourself, we all get to choose. At the end of the day doing something is probably better than doing nothing. Just hate to see people waste their money on crappy things that don't work.

  • @jodiemcseveney7446
    @jodiemcseveney7446 Před 3 lety +2

    You didn't do all the exercises. You seem alright from the first mishap of setting the machine up or putting it together, so fortunate. And repititions, of simple moves, 20mins day. Are you a fitness instructor?

    • @TheLastHonestInfluencer
      @TheLastHonestInfluencer  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for your comment Jodie! You are right I didn't do all the exercises in this video, just the ones I actually felt were worth doing. The rest of the movements they recommend you do on the machine I feel are ineffective (They don't really work anything out). You're right there was no serious injury from crashing on the machine, just a sore lower back for a few days. Very fortunate. I am not a fitness instructor, just a fitness enthusiast, workout 6-7 times per week with weights but train every day to stay healthy as everyone should. Cheers!
