Can't stress enough the importance of fully and completely understanding the victory conditions of every scenario played, as well as knowing which side has the last move and how that figures into the victory conditions.
I think Neal got the victory conditions wrong in this one - he inverted them. The Americans win if there are no German GO squads in all 4 buildings; if even a single GO squad is in any of the buildings, the Americans lose.
@@Orffen I understood it the same way. I think that historically it makes more sense also.
This is so much nicer with the physical game rather than VASL. Thank you!
Glad to see these play throughs. Really helps me get my head around all the rules seeing them played out and explained before me. Currently I play ALS SK solo so I don’t have that resource of another player to spot check me on my mistakes. Can’t wait to see more of your amazing tutorials; especially as you progress through the starter kits.
Thanks for the hard work.
Love the username, are you an architect? lol. Yes, that's the downside of playing solo, there's no mutual rule check system. I've mentioned it in other videos, but I find playing solo very difficult, especially when I watch videos I take of them (like these playthroughs) and notice some errors. Just remember, literally no one on Earth has ever played a perfect game of ASL with respect to the rules. 😁
@@ASLAcademy Why yes I am. I’m also an importer but only imports no exports.
Thank you for your tutorials. I am a total beginner (I only played Memoir 44, Conflict of heroes-Awakening of the bear and Flames of War) and I wanted to get into ASL for years. Thanks to your tutorials I might actually jump in !
As an ASLSK beginner your videos are invaluable. Thanks for taking the time to make it! I have played S1 three or four times to try to get the rules down but have been playing that the Germans only need GO infantry in one of the victory buildings to win, on the basis that the Americans win if there are no GO Germans in ANY of the buildings (‘N5, N6, M4, and L3) so the inverse is surely that a GO German in one of the buildings at game end is a German victory. And actually I just rewatched your AAR 01 where Scott plays the Germans and says he only needs to capture one building to win!
Thanks for the response and clarification. Looking forward to Turn 2.
Wow! I have to say I was riveted. This is about the best way to learn short of playing with you directly. I'm starting to figure out defensive fire now.
Now that I have Yanks and Beyond Valor I found GAVIN TAKE to be reallllly good for me as far as a new player as well.
Another very well made video, lots of detail, explanation, pop-up boxes etc. Excellent stuff.
Always appreciate folks like you who take the time to make this kind of video. A pleasure to watch, even if you've played these before. It's been a while for me, so dusting off my thinking cap and following along is most welcomed indeed. I have the first 3 starter kits & hope you continue to do this for a number of them from all 3!
Thanks a lot for making these! Got the starter kit last week and your videos are gold for learning the game!
Thanks, will be waiting for the next one👍
Your review of this scenario is fantastic! I'm just getting started in this fascinating world of ASL and clips like yours are priceless!
Great playthrough! Beautifully edited video too! 👍😊
At 7:34 the possibility of a check for inherent panzerfausts is mentioned.
Can a panzerfaust be used in starter kit #1 ?
Rule 4.4.2 in starter kit #2 rules is for Backblast but does not mention panzerfausts.
Rule 4.4.2 in starter kit #3 rules does describe the use of inherent panzerfausts.
GREAT SHOW
Very helpful video, I look forward to the rest of them. =)
@@ASLAcademy I am getting there. Its been a fun journey and your videos help. =)
great vid!
Great stuff.
Thank you for the playthrough of the cardboard version of the game. I also appreciate the explanations of the rules, and strategy choices, as you go along. (I'm a new subscriber.)
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks again!
Top merci !!!
Thanks!
Nice video. What kind of tweezers are you using?
Thanx for these. I'm just getting into ASL this weekend after purchasing Starter Kit 1, Beyond Valor, and Rising Son. I have no clue what I'm doing. I think having Tigers on the Hunt may help a little.
Definitely dive into SK1 first. It has the foundation of the ASL infantry rules and are only about 8 pages.
Yeah. I finished reading those last night. Then I watched some vids. Hopefully can get a chance to try it soon.
I actually just played this scenario yesterday. I was Axis and my buddy was Allies. I ended up winning, but it was real close!
Yeah, I think it's pretty well balanced. Are you planning to do other SK scenarios after this one for the Lets Plays?
There are no Panzerfausts in SKI (just in case people go looking for the rule, you won't find it).
Yep, good clarification. Any scenario with AFV, and there aren't any AFVs in SK1 or this scenario obviously.
Use a laser tool from appliance store instead of a string. Well worth it being convenient.
13:17. I read the victory conditions as there must be NO good order German units in the buildings, meaning it there is one in one building then the conditions no good order units in the four cited building is not achieved. Am I wrong ?
Yeah, I got it switched (see other comments), but it was later remedied.
@@ASLAcademy Thank you !
I hope I haven't missed this question elsewhere but where in the sheet of counters is the turn marker?
Actually (and strangely) I don't think SK1 comes with a turn counter. I must have just pulled one out of my trays that came from some other module.
Thank you for getting back to me
Cant a unit shoot again in the turn it rolls for coward? I must have missed that rule…
@@ASLAcademy ah I see. Thanks. Going directly to final fire is something we have missed, prep fire we have done correct
THANKS So much for doing this video! I havent played it in about 5 years so i needed a refresher course! This helped tremendosly!
You're welcome!
