    My Intex salt/sand water pump was making humming sound and water was not filtering. I thought my pump broke. Thanks to this video, I was able to get my pump working again. I put in the screwdriver in the middle hole and it started making the working sound. I then put everything back together just like in the video, did the backwash, and it worked great!!! Thanks Mike for this video!

My sand filter is still shooting sand out of the jet after replacing the lateral as well, which it started doing it the 2nd pool season we used it. I’m not surprised if the pump suddenly starts getting loud, and the last time I looked I could only find the set with a new sand filter for over $500.

      Hello Justin, ive had that happen to me on occasions. This issue is the thin rubber seal that goes in the lid. Take it out and clean it, than clean inside the crack that it sits in and clean the top of the basket where it will rest against. Sometimes when you flip it over to screw it on the gasket moves. Take to your time to make sure the gasket is on correctly and doesn't move. You'll get it!

      Don Williams not sure what's going on? you should be getting suction on the intake of the pool and should be shooting water on the return back into the pool. If your my getting suction could be a couple things: air in the filter- must bleed it to get it out. 2- your water valve is shut off below the intake 3- something is clogging the intake

    Honey you unplug that pump and remove the cover screws and the opposite side of where you stuck your screwdriver is the impeller rod screw..you need a Phillips head to remove all screws from pump cover then CAREFULLY CAREFULLY remove the cover because it's still wired to your motor and you can lift it off enough to see your impeller rod the fan blades center is a flathead screw fastening the blade plate to the motor..just give that screw a good turn with your flathead and should take the frozen to turning again replace your cover CAREFULLY and screws then turn her on and leave it running to work out that corrosion also TRY NOT TO RUN A POOL PUMP WITHOUT WATER that sucker gets hot enough it will blow your circuit short out its got a thermal trip and regardless if that sucker gets overheated because you're running it dry you could blow out your motor fo r good not to mention the trip to your house panel. This is really a no no. Good luck btw DONT EVER STICK YOUR HANDS OR TOOLS INSIDE A POOL PUMP WHILE ITS PLUGGED IN..THERE ARE HOT WIRES AND CAPACITORS AND ALL SORTS OF WIDOW MAKERS GOIN ON IN THAT TINY SPACE AND USUALLY PUMPS ARE SITTIN BETWEEN A TIGHT PLACE AND HOLDIN YOUR BREATH TO FIT AND CANT HARDLY SEE SO it really helps to remember electricity and water ain't the best of friends even on a Sunday in front of your mamma and the preacher..not worth it at all. Unplug it first.

    • @mikeleeslifehacks
      @mikeleeslifehacks  Před 8 lety

      hi Lisa. I don't use my pump in the winter. But definitely use it once we get ready for summer. You can shock it and it will probably kill some of the algae, however, the pump plays a vital role in removing the dead algae after you shock it. your pool will probably get really cloudy and the water probably won't get clean. you might want to invest in a new pump!
      Good luck!
