      Disappointed that you returned this Tyriel. You should have kept it to report on the future mixed reality and other feature updates. It's going to be a really exciting headset to watch these features develop over the next year or so and many CZcams reviewers seem to be returning because they just want to cover games.

    Great comparison thanks! All of the review videos boil down to cost difference. I love the pro and it’s vastly better than my quest 2, so $1500 is worth it to me. Plus all of the enjoyment I’ll get from this point on. A lot of reviewers I’ve watched are betting big on the quest 3, but it wouldn’t make good business sense to make it better or equal to the pro. We’d have to assume that it’s not as good as the pro, but a little better than the 2. Kinda like iPhones. So it’s another year of waiting for a middle grade headset, for a middle grade price (more than quest 2). Any new software it launches with will already be in the pro. In my opinion the quest pro will have paid itself off by then with more immersion from visual clarity, more comfort, etc. well worth $1500 😅

      I’d say this is definitely the hope. No one who owns a Quest Pro wants the Quest 3 to be bad, but they also don’t want it to be better than the Quest Pro. The power increase of the Pro vs the 2 isn’t evident in much of anything. However, the Quest 3 might help the Pro- more games will get optimized for the 3, and perhaps by extension the Pro too. Otherwise, the install base and use case of the Pro isn’t ideal for any developers to revisit games and optimize them for it.

    The Quest Pro image quality is incredible. No doubt. What put me off the most was 1.) The weight. It felt balanced, but still heavy to me. 2). The charging dock. I had to fiddle around so much to get the controllers and headset to sit right. 3.) Facebook's AR API is so far behind someone like Apple's. I was trying to code some AR stuff, but was hitting so many brick walls trying to get realistic shadow. Anyway, for gaming, if Meta could bring these lenses into a Pico-4 like form factor without the face tracking and make it lighter and cheaper, it would buy it without hesitation.

  • @lockmuertos
    @lockmuertos Před rokem +4

    Between the "TikTok dilemma" of the Pico4 headset, and the "Engineering sample issues" of the Quest Pro, I am trying to force myself to just stick with my Quest 2, until Quest 3 comes out. It's the only LOGICAL conclusion in my mind.

  • @BS-we7xp
    @BS-we7xp Před rokem +3

    Great review. I forced myself to use the Quest Pro every day for around 2-3weeks. I work in a 3D art production team from home. I found it to be usable but it needs more resolution. Even a bump of 10-25 percent would help. Another huge problem is the productivity software available. I used Workrooms, Immersed, and Virtual Desktop. Immersed had the worst quality but better customization. Workrooms had better quality but lacked basic features. Meta should have solid software if this is meant for working. Both programs suffered from bad antialiasing effects around windows and affected general readability. Virtual Desktop was the best in terms of quality. No weird antialiasing. It was smooth and consistent. One massive problem is the lack of virtual multi-monitor support. I use the Quest Pro every day for workouts and gaming. It's a great device for that purpose. It is not however in a good state to use as a daily work device. You can do it but I'd rather work on two small 1080p monitors than deal with the downsides.

    My Quest pro is amazing. As an owner of 2 Quest 2's i would like to say that the wide focal point alone does the trick for me. If the Quest 2 moves just a little bit, everything is blurry, Quest Pro always sharp. Battery life is much longer, never got 2 hours out of Quest 2, more like 1,5. Quest pro does 2.5 for me. What I didn't expected was that the detacheable light blockers are so convenient. When I want to see stuff like a glass or perhaps my phone, I use no light blockers. Playing an immersive storygame, the full light blocker goes on. Colors are better also. Some disadvantages: Forehead pain when screwing the thing to thight. The buttons are positioned wrong so whenever taking of the headset they are accidentally pressed. I could be a little bit lighter. Anyways if you don't have to sell body parts to put the 1500 dollar on the table, it is a no-brainer.

    Great review. I'd give the Quest 2 two more points on Price (3 total, being a third of the price). However, the controllers are much better without the rings - and the initial lag to synchronize.... well, it's just 3 seconds of your life. - no biggie, sure they'll fix that next update. Visuals are a LOT better - Horizontal FOV is bigger than OQ2 and it makes a difference - feels almost like the index (even though Index has higher Vertical FOV, but you tend to notice more the Horizontal. The colors more vibrant and the OQ2 grayish tone was annoying to me - preferred the original OQ. So visuals are a huge improvement due to higher pixel density/dimmed zones. Great video - thanks

  • @juryfilanti
    @juryfilanti Před rokem +2

    I do agree with everything but not so much in pricing... yes, I do consider the Pro expensive and probably it could be a couple hundreds cheaper, but it's actually hard to see a smaller price for it considering everything and the comparison with the Q2 is hard to do... it's like saying that a Yaris is better value than a BMW because is cheaper, you need to put it prospective of the competitors in the category... in the business category the Pro is on the cheap side tbh, the cheapest one is the Focus3 at 1300$ (Pico4pro will be cheaper but only one market and not out yet) but it's missing a lot of big features persent in the Pro (fresnel lenses in the htc) plus standard controller instead of premium one... and the step up are all wired headset for over $2K.
    FOR ME the biggest issue with the Pro is the comfort, if it doesn't feel good you have no adjustability at all and it's a big problem for most, everything else is pretty good and a big step up.
    Battery life yes, it could be better considering the size and weight of the battery pack but regardless of that, when I play at 120hz or full res on pcvr the Q2 is not much better and I am using battery pack anyway, it not change anything for me, BoboVR makes an accessory for their swappable battery perfectly compatible with every headset

    Tyriel you need to do more research on the pro before doing a comparison, you can get 3 hours of battery life if you turn off the face tracking and eye tracking in the options menu which is easy to do, this always you to get 3 hours of battery life from the quest pro. Additionally you failed to mention the IPD range on the quest pro which is VASTLY superior to the quest 2 and was the reason myself and several other people purchased the quest pro.

    Just need to wear the pro more on top of your nose at an angle to maximize the FOV. You can get MUCH closer to the lenses.

      100 percent agree with you here. The Quest Pro has the best FOV of any headset I've used, as wide on the horizontal as my Vive Pro 2 but with a better vertical FOV and much, much, much, much better edge to edge clarity. After the lenses the FOV increase is the biggest win on this headset imo, phenomenally good. Calling this a tie is bizarre to me, nearly as weird as him giving the controller award to the Quest 2.

    Quest Pro has 2 different sources for panels? I believe I've seen the effect in through the lens videos. It has been reported by more than one VR reviewer (including Thrillseeker) - there are significant differences - with one case being preferable over the other. If this is present in current sales then Quest Pro sales by Meta - even at a discount - should not be sustained. (Unless you care to spot the difference upon receipt and return if necessary ????). This would mean Quality is totally compromised.

The PS5 and their VR solution is at similar price point to Quest Pro. The AMD chip of PS5 (geekbench =6635) is certainly more powerful than the heat restrained cpu of Quest 2 (geekbench=1012). PS5 likely to be two to three times more powerful than Quest 3 Pro.
