      Definitely Meta, for several practical reasons: stand alone VR headset, equivalent affordable price of a Nintendo Switch, very portable, already have a PC to connect it to even wirelessly, Steam compatible.

    • @RomainDelmaire
      @RomainDelmaire Před rokem +22

      Definitely team Sony.
      Not because the headset is better but just because there is more interesting games planned in the next 3 months than were on Meta or Steam in the past 2 years.
      Also because Meta is so full of themselves with that metaverse nonsense that I doubt they'll ever recover. At least not when it comes to gaming.
      But in terms of headset I do find the PSVR2 way more comfortable and find the ergonomics of the controllers to be better as wall (harder to hit the rings together).
      I personally don't care about the UI being flat screen floating. The UI is just there to launch games anyway.

      Indubitably team Sony.
      The headset is far from perfect and I wish I could ditch the cable and get Deluxe Audio Strap on it instead (for both audio and comfort).
      But I hate the colors you get on LCD panels without good local dimming and WiFi PCVR streaming is also pretty bad IMO. Also, Meta is evil and not doing things that are good for gamers.

      Team Sony. Meta has lost focus on gaming and now appeals only to casuals, the same type of consumers who enjoy Wii sports. Sony is bringing back high end VR gaming. PSVR2 may have a smaller library, but quantity does not equal quality. A lot of it is shovelware, which is why most have their quests sitting in the back of their closets.

    It's hard to compare the Quest 2 running as a standalone headset vs PSVR2 basically being powered by something equal to a decent powered PC. A true comparison would be the Quest 2 running PCVR vs PSVR2.
    Having said that, gaming wirelessly in VR is definitely a game changer vs being wired. Also, sad to hear PSVR2 suffers from SDE or bluriness trying to hide it. I thought maybe things improved with OLED screens in VR headsets. While the colors and contrast are great, SDE is something that I think ruins immersion in VR as well as making things blurry trying to hide it. It was the main reason I did not like the original Quest. The SDE just ruined it for me. Would take worse contrast and colors of an LCD screen in VR any day over SDE.

    After only 1 day of having PSVR 2 I would say it is much better than my PCVR experience with Quest 2. One of the main points is the lack of faff, I spent more time fiddling with in game settings using PCVR. Running a RTX 2080 super I found to get the level of graphic fidelity I want the games would run badly, also many artefacts. In the end I went back to my Rift S for Driving Sims, but resolution if far less. I just plug in PSVR 2 and its perfect, no faff. The biggest down side of PSVR 2 is having to purchase games I already own on PCVR or Quest. But for example Star Wars galaxy edge is so much better on PSVR 2, and the Haptics are so immersive.

      Same for me 😢 I'm planning to return my PSVR2 headset, despite my initial excitement about a major player entering the VR market. However, I've been disappointed by some aspects of the headset, including the cord, which I find cumbersome compared to the freedom of my PICO 4. The settings are also too limited, but that's to be expected since the product is designed for console gamers. Adjusting the headset is a tedious process, and it's not practical to pick up the controllers while wearing the headset. Additionally, the addition of separate audio headphones seems unnecessary when other VR headsets have built-in speakers, and the lack of a blue light solution is also disappointing.

    I think being wireless vs wired should give a point to the Quest 2 in terms of immersive experience. And, not sure how you can score this so just mentioning it as you did was probably the way to go, but if you’ve got a gaming pc, that evens things up on the high end gaming front at least to some extent. And now with the Quest 3 coming out, and the apparently good quality pass through for AR experiences, that will add a new dimension to the comparison.

  •  Před rokem +4

    About the PSVR 2 controllers: the fact that the grip button is not analog like in case of Quest controllers, is not really the issue. It has capacitive sensor so the games can use it similar to how Index controllers work. It's a game design issue.

    • @Tyrielwood
      @Tyrielwood  Před rokem +3

      keeping a button pressed is much harder than keeping an analog grip pressed tho, but yeah, as game design you will see many games using a toggle to grab (like the old vive wands) or simply using the trigger ( like horizon is already doing ), but it feels a bit unnatural to me

    •  Před rokem +1

      You missed my point I guess. Devs could have easily implemented it as "rest your finger on the grip button" instead of pressing it down. That's also why using wrist straps instead of Index like grip straps is bit of a wasted opportunity there.

      I was worried about this as well, as I have relatively large hands. I don't own a quest 2, but I have played around with one and i really didn't like the controllers as they felt too small and I constantly felt like I was going to drop them (especially playing beat saber). My worry with the PSVR2 controllers was that my hands would feel cramped or I would get pinched in some way. Even still, I took the plunge and ordered the PSVR2. As soon as I got the controllers out and picked them up, my initial concern was that the tracking ring would get in the way of my thumb when using the face buttons (circle, X, triangle, square) as that sits exactly over the joint of the thumb with the back of your hand. Happily, not only does it fit my hand comfortably, I don't notice any problem with the tight space for the movement of my thumbs when I'm in game (there is very slight contact with the lowest knuckle of my thumb, but it's a smooth surface on the inside of the controller). For reference, my measurement across the middle of my palms is 9.5cm, and my max span for my hand is 24.5cm (fingers spread as wide as possible - tip of little finger to tip of thumb). You won't know for sure until you try them, but I hope this gives you some idea and might help.

    I just got my PSVR2 a few days ago, and it's amazing, especially with Gran Turismo 7.
    But, I still use my Quest 2 from time to time to play modded Beat Saber through Virtual Desktop, since PSVR2 doesn't have PC compatibility.
    It would be really cool if Sony came up with a solution to play PCVR games on the PSVR2.
    One great way to do that would be to release Virtual Desktop on the PSVR2 (or Sony's equivalent version of it), and stream PCVR games directly to the PS5, that way the PSVR2 would still be plugged in to the PS5, and you wouldn't have to plug it into your PC.
    You could just download Virtual Desktopon your PS5, then download the client on your PC, then stream PCVR games to the PS5 and use your PSVR2. That way, Sony wouldn't have to make a linkbox or anything and could have PC combatibility fully through software.
    I know Sony definitely wouldn't do this, but it would be a good solution.
    They could add Virtual Desktop-like functionality to Remote Play, and you could stream PCVR games to the PS5 with that.

    I own the Quest 2 + gaming PC and PS5. So in my case I’m considering either getting the Quest 3 or PSVR 2. In general the Quest is a better value choice. You can play without any other device. Play with a PC that is an open platform with hundreds of experiences. You get access to web VR, 3D movies and anything you can think of. And with the Quest 3 much better AR. But there are two big problem. The Quest 3 hardware is obsolete on launch. No Foveated rendering. No OLED. No HDR. A slight resolution and clarity upgrade + AR but nothing major. It’s not like the upgrade from Quest 1 to Quest 2. On top of that AAA PCVR isn’t very big nor well optimized. So few companies are willing to risk launching a AAA game on PCVR. And with Meta moving more towards mobile it’s only going to get harder. Asgard’s Wrath 2 for instance is a mobile game. So since I already have a Quest 2, I want better VR games,and the Quest 3 is just a minor upgrade, the PSVR 2 seems to be the right choice. Keep the Quest 2 for everything else and get the PSVR 2 for AAA games, immersion and all that.

With the Quest you can upgrade the strap to something you can feel more comfortable wearing. the PSVR2 so far has given me a headache, I really am not a fan of the no IPD markings on it too. Trying to find that sweet spot can be tough. im not sure if it is the Halo strap or the not properly tuned IPD. I love how light the PSVR headset is though, it feels like a better Rift S. The film you mentioned is interesting. I thought it didnt seem as clear as my Quest 2 as well, but amazing color and contrast, it is miles above in that regars.

    For the price of around 1000 dollars, you can get a ps5 and a psvr2, or a quest 2 and a good midrange gaming pc (which you can use for almost anything). Less performance and quality, but way more freedom to do what you want, including vr mods for games like red dead 2 (Clasted Bheeks made an incredible video about that). I would pick pcvr any day, but it's a personal decision.

    The polarized takes on the clarity of PSVR2 are really confusing. Some say it's clearer than Quest 2, some say it's much blurrier... I own the Quest 2, the HP Reverb G2 and the PSVR2. I'd say PSVR2 is somewhere in between the Quest 2 and HP Reverb G2. It's not as clear as I would like it to be but at the end of the day it's clear enough. Also depends on your personal ipd and whether you've found the exact sweet spot or not. Better FOV and colours and OLED blacks and comfort make me want to use the PSVR2 over the Q2 and the G2. You should seek out reviews from experienced VR users. My personal opinion is that you should not get rid of the Quest 2 but keep both. I Hope that helps.

      For me, who’s has a quest 2 and a nice pc, it’s like this. The PSVR2 has better resolution but is less clear lol it has a very strange “fuzz” to it. I almost sent it back because of it. However, after a while I got used to it and don’t really mind anymore. It’s like if you took a photo and put a color filter on it. At first it’s hard not to notice but then after a while you forget it’s there. The actual graphics are absolutely stunning and the haptics of the controllers add a ton for me. It’s also WAY more comfortable. I can wear it for 3 times as long and still be better off than the quest. I’ve only played Horizon, GT7 with a wheel, and Pavlov. Horizon is kind of stuttery for me which was a huge turn off however GT7 and Pavlov are incredibly smooth and ridiculously fun. Overall I’d say it’s considerably better than the quest 2 in every possible way outside of pure clarity and the cable although I haven’t found that to be a big deal. If you play PC vr with the quest you might not be as impressed with the psvr but if you’re coming from the quest stand-alone I think it’s worth it without a doubt just for the high quality games alone.

    I appreciate the attempt to compare the systems but they are fundamentally different products. One of them requires a ps5 to use whereas the other is a stand alone item that can be linked to a computer to boost it's usability. My other major issue is that the Quest 2 is 3 years old and there is a new model releasing later this year.

    It seems odd that Sony would release a Tethered headset in 2023. While that may be how the VR industry first started, it evolved beyond that years ago. They are taking a step five years backwards.
    The score changes to 8 (Quest 2) vs 4 (PSVR 2) when you consider the Quest 2 can be powered by a powerful Gaming PC (either tethered or wirelessly).
    POWER: A high-end Gaming PC is without question more powerful and has better graphics than a PS5. Move that point from the PSVR2 to the Quest 2 and the score changes to 5 (Quest 2) - 6 (PSVR 2).
    GAMES: With the Quest 2, you need to remember is also has access to PC VR games. The graphics on some of these are amazing. There is also not a size limit on the PC VR games available to the Quest 2. Move that point from the PSVR2 to the Quest 2 and the score changes to 6 (Quest 2) - 5 (PSVR 2).
    SOUND: This one is more subjective. Many people prefer the open-air sound of the Quest 2 and don't want ear buds inside their ears or headphones covering their ears. Fortunately, the Quest 2 allows either open air or headphones/earbuds. The PSVR2 limits you to earbuds/headphones only. Move that point from the PSVR2 to the Quest 2 and the score changes to 7 (Quest 2) - 4 (PSVR 2).
    UNTETHERD: Finally, the most significant difference wasn't even scored. This is the ability to use untethered. This is what made the Quest 2 the most popular VR headset. The Quest 2 can be used untethered or tethered. The PSVR2 can only be used tethered, limiting the play area to the short length of a cable that is always being stepped on and getting wrapped up in while playing. This definitely is a point for the Quest 2 (most people would consider this 10 points!). Make these corrections and the final score becomes 8 - 4 with the Quest 2 on top.
    Nowadays, the only reason to buy a tethered headset is if it has considerably better graphics and you want to use sit-down simulators, such as Microsoft Flight Simulator or iRacing. When sitting, the cable is not an issue. These high-end simulators, however, are only available on Gaming PCs.

    I have the PSVR2 and the Quest 2. Listen to Tyriel when he gives his take on the PSVR2. It is by far the best OLED experience that you can get for that price(plus high quality games) but the problem of blurriness still exists.
    Basically, if you’re coming from a Quest 2, you’re probably going to feel as though the PSVR2 is a bit blurry. I definitely was underwhelmed by the resolution. I researched and tried to find out why it looks way blurrier and more screen door-ish than the quest.
    I came to find out that it is because it is a pentile matrix design with the LEDs. Without getting too technical, PSVR2 needs need like at least 30-40% more pixels to match the clarity of Quest 2.
    Nevertheless, I still LOVE the immersion that it brings vs the Q2. To be specific, the OLED makes everything seem alive and more immersive. It also has more vertical FOV. The fact dark looks “dark” and not gray.. the fact I can vividly see detailed shadows and sunlight (Horizon) is what keeps me immersed.
    It’s hard to explain but just think of it this way:
    PSVR2 = next-gen OLED lifelike VR in 720P
    Quest 2 + PC streaming = next-gen lifelike VR in 1440p(2k) with grayish blacks
    Luckily, I own both but it is a tie in my eyes one gives maximum immersion and one give maximum clarity + graphics. And when I say maximum “immersion”, I am trying to point out the fact it feels like you’re actually there in that VR world. With that being said, if you don’t have a PS5, I don’t recommend it. Just save up and buy a decent gaming PC setup.

    The PSVR is better than the quest 2 on PCVR, when you consider the optimization of the games on ps5 hardware (partnered with eye tracking foveated rendering) the fps is just good and it works. Also considering the controllers, they are great with force feedback. The feedback in the HMD is a nice bonus too. FOV is great, colors are great, brightness is unmatched. Clarity is good. Personally I would prefer a screen door over the Mura effect caused by the filter. I'm ok with fresnel for the brightness trade off. Overall I will be enjoying my psvr 2, and using my quest 2 for PCVR only games.

    Hmm. I feel like the Quest 2's convenience and portability should have come into play here.
    Not to mention giving the point to the Playstation VR2 in the "Games" category when it barely has any yet. That's not even talking about the fact you can play the entire PCVR catalog of games on the quest 2, and it even has alternate storefronts you can use to get indies very easily. Quest should easily have won that one.

    The pity about PSVR 2 is that all the old vr games are not useable, with quest you can connect to pc and have a massive library of games, old or new.

      Well Quest 2 has a huge head start. PSVR2 literally just came out. A lot of the old titles will become available and new ones as well. Just have to wait a bit. While waiting, there's already enough content to keep players entertained.

  • @zaidlacksalastname4905

    This is like comparing a 3060 to a 4080. 1 point for the price? The price is the whole point. Price shouldn't be a factor because it's the biggest factor.

    The only real advantage of the quest over the pavr2 is the wireless and the fact it can be connected to pc and all the free or very cheap mods cracks and variety of games and experiences it has to offer - well that’s a big advantage lol
    Both systems are great but for me I need a better fov as 96 or 110 is still last gen and helps to break the immersion - looks like am going to have to go down the index/pimax route and am sure a lot of people still will stick to these because of this.
    From what people speculate the quest 3 will only have somewhere between 100-110 degrees as well so again shame on both these headsets 🤔 But if your not too fused about the fov abd if people haven’t bought the psvr2 yet and don’t already have a ps5 console I would hold on for the quest 3 as it will be a lot cheaper and have high resolution and of course you’ll be getting wireless pc vr and most of the games on psvr2 have been ported anyway and there’s a lot more to choose from and cheaper where as I don’t think the psvr2 will be pc compatible as the connection between the ps5 and psvr2 will be encrypted . Anyway thanks for the video .

    The Quest 2 should get points for being able to be used for PCVR and points for having side quest. Psvr2 should have a half point reduced for the majority of its current launch line up being 2 yr old quest ports. Also the quest 2 is now 3 years old and it still is a great headset. Psvr2 may be the new powerhouse but im sure quest 3 will leap frog it

    Not surprising that if you look at the comments you see PCVR players saying metaquest 2 is better than the obviously better PSVR2. These are the people complaining about the filter that reduces the screen door effect that is common in most headsets, specifically the Metaquest 2. Ironically enough if you go back to metaquest 2 reviews the screen door effect is a huge complaint many users had....now the screen door effect is being praised for clarity. This is laughably sad that people are going out of thier way to downplay an obviously better option in PSVR2 since many of these same people will praise the G2 reverb which has a similar screen technology.
    Its also ironic that whenever people talk about the price of a PSVR2 vs metaquest 2 they talk about the Metaquest 2 as a standalone headset, which when compared to the PSVR2 in this mode is like trying to compare a switch in portable mode to a PS5. The obvious solution for these Metaquest 2 advocates is to pair it to a powerful PC and this is were the irony comes in....they will include the price of a PS5 in the discussion of PSVR2 so 400/500 dollars + 550 dollars would total 1150 dollars so lets say 1200 for round numbers sake, but the cost of the powerful PC to make metaquest 2 better is unsurprisingly absent from the comparison. I say unsurprisingly because the minimum cost for a VR capable PC alone is 1200- 1500 dollars and this isn't even a good PC, this is more like the bargin bin cheapest entry port to VR type PC and the PC alone for VR will cost you more than the PSVR2 and PS5 combined. But that will never be in these comparisons.
    Lastly we don't talk about immersion, which is odd considering that VR itself is all about immersion. We don't talk about 3d audio or haptic feedback in the controllers and headset, or even HDR10 support, with Metaquest and no PC will give you those things so now they don't matter for VR apparently. As someone who has a very good PC VR setup and a PS5 and now PSVR2, I can say that PSVR2 is extremely good and is definitely better than metaquest 2 to the point where I would not even consider metaquest 2 a fair comparison to PSVR2 because it is onesided in favor of PSVR2. PSVR2+PS5 is more comparable to a G2 reverb and beefy PC which is very high praise considering that I paid over 3k for my PC VR setup but 1295 after taxes for PS5+ PSVR2 Horizon bundle+ charging station.

    My computers are Macs, which notoriously are avoided by game publishers - so I use my PS5 as my gaming machine.
    That makes it a no-brainer to go with the PSVR2.
    Unfortunately, I suffer from lazy-eye which diminishes my VR experience.
    … and let's face it - this is _Meta_ we're talking about. The whole reason Meta got into the game is so they can track you without someone else like Apple getting in the way. Do you _really_ think they're selling it at $400 out of the goodness of their hearts?

  • @deanrichards364
    @deanrichards364 Před rokem +11

    This comparison felt very biased, first you said the controllers were better on quest 2 but give the point to playstation for adaptive triggers but failed to mention with that setting on the battery in the controllers drains way faster, the quest 2 has much better touch capacitors and overall feel and button positioning, then you went to audio and said the PSVR2 has better audio and even comparing with the headset you can buy for it when the Quest 2 has MUCH better audio solutions now that absoultely bury the PSVR2, then you mention games, the quest 2 has a massive library of games that the PSVR2 doesn't even have access to, its not always about the graphically fidelity, games like robo recall, RE4 VR, In death, a good majority of the games coming to PSVR2 were already released on Quest/PCVR. I'm all for comparison videos but don't favor one side over the other to be the "hype of the month" video.

    Selling my PS4 and PSCR 1 and NOT buying PSVR 2 as much as I want to. Already have Quest 2 and Pimax 5k (gonna sell the Pimax while keeping the sensors and controllers) and will be waiting for Quest 3 to upgrade or buy as a secondary AIO vr hmd and also very curious about how Valve will respond to all this with Deckard, I hope it arrives in 2023. Already heavily invested in all 3 ecosysytems, s will continue with PCR and Quest systems although I am very happy to see Playstation VR is evolving but they have to urgently do something about the PSVR library and support devs to bring the majority of the PSVR 1 catalogue to PSVR 2 asap!
