Thank you for the comment! 😁 I don't see people saying that they're excited but you're the first one that have stated that you're specially not interested. I think it's one of those features that are important but not necessary a deal breaker if you're using VR for gaming.
I just bought meta quest 2 should i return it?
That will depend on your personal situation. If you're able to play Quest 2 a lot until Quest 3 release and then buy Quest 3, you'll get your money's worth. If you don't have the money to get Quest 3 when it comes out, and you're not dying for a Quest 2 and is able to wait, it might be better to keep that for Quest 2. All in all, it depends on your situation. Hopefully this helps!
I’m very interested in the quest pass and hopefully they will give us a good deal on the games. It will also be good to find the hidden gems like you said!

Thank you for the comment! What do you mean by angle of view? Is it the same thing as Field of view (FOV)? Both specs are not confirmed at this point but I would expect Wi-Fi6e to improve PCVR.

I have saved many years for a vr headset and i got the quest 2, i regret my choice, is there anything i can do about it?
Is it too late to return your order? If not I say play as much VR as possible until Quest 3 releases and sell your Quest 2 as a used device on whatever service you want to sell on to get at least a little bit to fund Quest 3!

I want to get my first vr headset. But now Meta announces the Quest 3. It's either I wait 6 months (all summer), or I get a Quest 2 now.
It's such an annoying decision. Just going to have to get a Q2 then somehow trade it for a Q3, so I wont be bored all summer.
Thank you for the comment! I would love for you to get the Quest 3 instead of Quest 2 just because how much better Q3 will be compared to Q2 for about $100 more. If you want to get into VR this summer, I would recommend getting a used Q2 to save money because like I mentioned above, I want you to eventually get Q3. If you buy a Q2 used and then re sell it like you mentioned, you might not get much for it but you’ll be saving the most money that way. Let me know what you end up going with!😁

With "Quest Pass" it depends on the games they offer. If they offer games like Drunken Bar fight I am not interested.
In a hypothetical situation, I subscribe for 6 months so I have access to 12 games then I let my sub lapse for a few months when I come back will Meta allow me access to the 12 games I was previously subbed for? These are the questions that need to be answered as well as the monthly charge.
It would help with their retention/engagement issue that Mark Rabkin recently talked about but more needs to be known. I can see it happening though as it would give new users access to older games.
EDIT - Just had a thought. Did not Meta and Microsoft have plans to launch Xbox Game Pass to the Quest 2 for access to flatscreen games?
Thank you for the comment! The thing you mentioned about whether you get to re-claim games after pausing the subscription is actually really key like you said. A really good thought! I would like to see them offer like 5 games and you choose 2 out of the 5 but we’ll have to see.
Yes, Microsoft and Meta did announce the Xbox game pass to be played on a virtual flatscreen but the implementation date is TBD so we could be waiting for months or even years… you know how Meta is🤷♂️

Nice that you showed the Pico4 and no news about it. It's such a great headset. Wonder how much better the Quest3 will be in picture quality. With the Pico4 I can read my watch, but to be able to see a sharp picture would be awesome.
Hopefully! I use the Pico 4 trailer since it has a well designed trailer and it fits perfectly as a B-roll clip. I wish Pico 4 was available within the U.S. for easy accessibility but at this point I think I’m passing it😕 being able to read the watch is actually pretty good haha
At this point, making the specs better than Pico 4 is absolutely required for Meta. If they don’t, they’ll get passed by their competitors🤷♂️
@@asvr_vr Considering their next product is slated for the second half of the year, they shouldn't just be beating the Pico 4, they should be targeting the inevitable Pico 5, as that will be their true competition.

I need the announcement soon, my controllers both got drift this week and I am not spending my money to fix them when they have this big of a upgrade coming this year.
I’m sorry about the controllers. I’m not 100% on this but it doesn’t make sense NOT to release it at Meta connect 2023 in September October timeframe!
What I want to know about the Quest 3 is if it will have that ability to move the lenses in-or-out closer to your eyes like the Pro has (not the IPD setting to be clear), and if it will have the same controllers as the Pro, just with replaceable batteries.
Thank you for the comment! For the first portion yes, Quest 3 should include a dial to bring the lens in or out. I say “should” because even though Meta execs did confirm this, they have changed things last minute. For the second part, I don’t think it’s going to be the same controllers as the pro with replaceable batteries. I would same an upgraded version of Quest 2 controllers but not anything like the Touch Pro controllers with Quest Pro.

I think it would be more like Quest 2 but it'll have the capabilities to connect to the Touch Pro Controllers! Nothing confirmed yet, just my thoughts based on leaks and trends from Meta
@@asvr_vr looking at the camera placements on the quest 3 , having no cameras on top means that the tracking will be awful up there , we'll have to see , maybe they developed a stripped down quest pro controller?

I'm not sure a AA battery , maybe two , maybe two AA might have enough power for the CPU and the camera's but that means a heavy controller

@@joogled1839 It’s a step back for VR and the industry as a whole. It’s taking VR back to the google cardboard/Samsung gear days by not focusing on VR as the main selling point/component and instead making it a tacked on gimmick. Pimax’s software is incredibly flawed and thinking it will be able to deliver on both a standalone VR and handheld menu is laughable to imagine. The whole think also looks extremely cheap and in VR mode I can’t imagine that being a comfortable experience with a tablet being hung off your face with no counter balance. We have already seen the Pimax Portal, it’s called the Nintendo Switch and Labo VR.

Yes, I think the odds are definitely in your favor for a Quest 3 launch before November. Regardless if you’re new or not to VR, I would recommend waiting for Quest 3 instead of getting Quest 2 or Pico 4. If you have money to spend without regret, buying 2 headsets won’t be the end of the world but I would also recommend getting a used Quest 2 instead of new if you can’t wait! Hopefully this helps!

Thank you for the comment! This is a hard one but I’ll take a crack at it. The general advice for VR fans will be to get a Quest 3 since Q3 and PSVR2 will be priced similarly while Q3 will be able to do everything that VR offers (social, games, PCVR, education, etc). If you’re only concerned with VR gaming, PSVR2 will probably give you more immersion due to haptics and graphics. There is a limited number of games available on PSVR2 at the moment, which is something to consider as well. I don’t know which VR games you plan to play but you’re also giving up popular titles on Q3 like gorilla tag, VRChat, etc.
This is my take but again it’ll depend on what you want to do within VR and what kind of games you want to play. Hopefully this helps!

Will is be able to play HL Alyx through SteamVR? I don't see why not. As a standalone device, obviously it's not gonna be able to compete with PCVR dedicated headsets. Just like how Quest Pro improved on the PCVR quality (Even though it's a standalone device) so I really see improvements happening on the Quest 3 in terms of PCVR capabilities as well. My thoughts🤷♂️

If you think about it there could be a meta quest 2 pro, because remember the fact that the first quest is black? So is the new quest pro, so it’s basically a newer version of the first quest, so my prediction is that there will be a quest 3 this year, and a quest 2 pro sometime later I hope you understand
Yeah absolutely! I know what you mean! If you watch the Quest roadmap video I posted a few videos ago, I talk about the leaked project that’ll be Quest Pro 2 (most likely). My guess is that it’ll be sometime around 2025!

I guess for Quest 2 256GB version, it would be more of a regression since last year, it was selling for $399.99. For Quest Pro, it would be a drop since it has never sold at any price below $1,000!

@@asvr_vr In the end its up to the person who makes the purchase. I dont mind how people spend their money, it is their money afterall... but If I can use the quest 3 without reliance on the subscription, Ima buy the thing. its good hardware. And frankly, the added option of a subscription might be good for some people, if its an option and not forced or required/needed before I can play games like vr chat or use apps like virtual desktop.
Subscription shouldnt be the only option, if you get what I mean.
Quest pro or quest 3 and why?
The final decision will be made by your specific wants and needs but general advice, I would wait for Quest 3. The only reason you would want a Quest Pro that quest 3 doesn’t offer is face/eye tracking. You can use upgrades to make Quest 3 similar to Quest Pro. Even with all upgrades, you’ll be spending less than what you would on a Quest Pro so you can buy the “41 games” coming alongside with Quest 3.

My only question on the Quest 3 is how well will it work with my PCVR STEAM games?
I do SIM racing games and currently I have 3 tethered VR headsets that connect directly to my GFX card (Oculus Rift S, HP Reverb G2 V2, and the Valve Index).
I really don't need another VR headset, but so far I never have gotten into wireless. I mainly do sitting SIM racing games but it would be neat to do my sports games wirelessly. I just felt wireless VR headsets are not fast enough and quality is not that good through USB connection.
Will the Quest 3 meet my needs mentioned above, I shall see when it is released and reviewed. I know the Quest headsets do not provide a DP connection to my GFX card, so don't know what the latencies will be trying to run STEAM games through USB.
Question: Using the Quest 3 in pass through mode, can I walk through my entire house (upstairs-downstairs) with the VR headset on and working, or do I have to be near the computer with using Pass Through. Confused how that works. Thanks for any info.

Alright let me take a shot at this question. From reading this the two questions are 1, will Quest 3 be better for Sim Racing than PCVR dedicated headsets, and 2, will you be able to walk through the house with passthrough.
1. Will Quest 3 be better than PCVR dedicated headsets for sim racing? I would say no if we're comparing it to PCVR vs standalone. If you're talking about Quest 3 in PCVR mode, I think it'll support your needs mentioned above. The Quest 3 will have the latest technology that VR headsets needs to have a good PCVR experience (except Face and eye tracking but I don't think you need those for sim racing). I believe Quest 3 on PCVR will be better than the headsets you mentioned above but keep in mind, there are a lot of promising PCVR dedicated headsets coming out in 2023 (You can watch my video for most of those czcams.com/video/n9Fe0GKL7Hg/video.html). I know you're worried about the latency problem and you're right, a wireless option will never be better than the wired option but with Quest 3, I believe the leaked specs expects Wi-Fi 6E capabilities so the wireless PCVR through airlink should be improving as well.
2. So going into how Meta currently programs their guardian feature. You will be able to walk around the house by passthrough but as long as you have your guardian activated, you wont be able to play while walking around the house. There couple work arounds for this. The first is you enable developer mode (czcams.com/video/Yblp3LH1UAI/video.html) and you can just turn off guardian mode completely. The other way is to keep setting new guardian as you walk around which will make stop, set up, go to a new spot, stop, set up and the cycle repeats. The guardian can only be so big which i don't think it'll cover your entire house unless you have a studio apartment that is very small in terms of square footage. As you walk around, it'll obviously be hard to find a cable that long so at that point, I would recommend PCVR via airlink as long as you get a really good wifi router.

Would be cool if technology got to the point where we could wonder through a large house and the guardians detect the rooms and set themselves as we move(maybe someday). For right now looks like limited to room size guardians setup by user.
They need to come up with more good real sports games for wireless VR so we are free to move around without tied to a cable. They have mini golf, but no full blown playing real golf courses for wireless VR. They do have a couple for regular tethered VR.

I will wait once the motion sickness get solved. I remember getting bad motion sickness when I used a PSVR.
I'm sure going forward, there will be a lot of measures to combat motion sickness or at least ease it. Keep in mind though, with certain games, you just have to get used to motion sickness and you'll feel it less and less the more you play. I used to get really bad motion sickness from VR my first couple months but I don't feel anything anymore!
