I try not to fear things I have no control over
you do have control over this.
@@Defort-jd8xe over what nuclear war mind explaining to me exactly how
preventing warmongers into goverment by using your vote.
@@Defort-jd8xe I don’t know if you noticed but warmongers have infested both political parties in the United States so you either vote for a republican who supports the continuation of Israel’s war in Gaza or a democrat who supports a forever war on Russias border. Idk who exactly the any war party is
@@Defort-jd8xeWishful thinking that we have control.😂
I’m 60. As a kid I remember the very large civil defence siren going off in the very early morning. I was terrified because I knew what it was for. Late at night on TV there were regular tests of “the emergency broadcast system”. My father explained to me the nuclear triad and MAD policy. Everyone would benefit by watching films of nuke test explosions IMHO. Most people have no idea of the power of these systems of destruction.
"I'm not such a big fan of humanity, in some ways."
Yep. I hear ya.
To be scared all the time isn't very good for you , unfortunately it's what keeps us adaptive and alive.
Fearful and aware are two different traits. Plenty of fearful people that lack awareness.
Great conversation
Happy Monday Lex!
Every time when I watch You Lex You make me😊. Really GOOD JOB LEX✨.
If a bomb were to hit me, it would explode in a thousand pieces.. that bomb should be scared.
Nice one super men.
You make me feel good.
You make me feel calm, when I hear your voice, its like meditating lex 💭 it's like you change the atmosphere just by being there Which is incredible to see. A whole vibe.
For the majority of people, these things are so far outside of the scope of their lives that they feel powerless against these changes. "Why be terrified of what you cannot control, even if it may lead to my death?"
I spent most of my professional life involved in deterring nuclear war, and if that failed, executing it as ordered. At the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War, our motto was “Peace…is our profession.” The dots were meant to be ominous. Our system was and remains entirely defensive. Totally clear conscience about that. All I can say is her intuition is, in my view, correct for a whole set of reasons mostly lost in a miasma of contemporary hysterias. ☮️
don't lie
Yes, you should be afraid all the time. That's how you never cannot think or act smart and you'll do whatever the government tells you to do.
It’s best not to live in fear
Genies of death patiently awaiting the rubbing of the lamps-Carl Sagan
04:49 She wasn’t ready to move on Lex…oh no, there was a lot to come from her…
Hubris can be extremely deadly!
We should not fear anything, why live in fear !!! What a silly statement Lisa
If the strategic purpose of nuclear weapons is deterrence towards a nuclear armed aggressor;
Then, the limit for the number of strategically effective nuclear weapons is necessarily lower than the number of nuclear weapons required to cause nuclear Armageddon.
The problem of nations stockpiling weapons above this limit is a problem in state level decision making, and this is where effective restraints can be applied.
Nuclear technology isn't difficult in theory, it's difficult in practice, as it requires some level of industry and capital investment, which you'd need a state or large organization to do so.
Having said that, I think it's also necessary to have safe civilian applications for nuclear technology. It's a different set of technologies than weapons, and transparency and oversight are easier to achieve. It still takes state level intervention to set safety standards, so there's a part for everyone to play. It's getting difficult to imagine us all living within our current individual energy budgets without adopting a lot of fuel that doesn't produce greenhouse gases. I don't even mind thinking about things like nuclear powered cargo ships and nuclear powered freight trains at this point.
I beg to differ radically: we shouldn't be afraid of anything. I believe we attract probable negative outcomes by first visualizing them with an initial pang of anxiety and then by investing more and more fear-based emotional energy to turn them into semi-permanent astral realities. Since we feed these probable outcomes with the energy of our fears, we can become quite literally attached to them and even engulfed by them. I don't claim authorship of this idea.
Fear is an evolved trait best seen as an adaptation which keeps us safe. Of course, bad actors exploit this and use it to manipulate our opinions, choices and behaviors, or it paralyzes a person to the point of indecision, immobility and reclusivity, but we actually prepare for and even potentially prevent negative outcomes by being afraid.
There's a book called The Gift of Fear, by an Evolutionary psychologist. I'd recommend it.
If you see no usefulness is fear, your instincts have dulled, the very threat censors in your brain have been unused for so long they don't function properly anymore. It's to the point you actually see these evolutionary adaptations as hindrances, as harmful and even as toxic, and this is likely a result of being in a safe environment which never required you to identify threats and strategize how to handle them because you just weren't faced with ones of any significance.
@@bostinroid4434 Everything you've said is the truth, I've lived it since a young age. You've said it better than I ever could have. We all have the power to master our own mind and use fear/anxiety as a positive. I'll take a look at that book as well, big thanks.
Why? They can’t be used. The minute ones used it’s game over for everyone and the powers that be know it.
You can rest easy as our ET brothers will never let that happen
I agree with you 1000% they will not let us destroy ourselves

i dont think that we should be concerned about nuclear war one bit.just like the past its a moment in time where everyone is on edge and the topic makes for good conversation and views on you tube.so enjoy the next 100 years because we are just going through a phase...
I remember waking up from a nap by an extremely loud positive lightning that struck near my house. I could've sworn russia just nuked us and so i just froze looking outside my window, expecting to be evaporated within a few seconds.... then nothing happened... Perhaps in an alternate reality I did die, and perhaps my consciousness was moved to the reality where I survived and it was just a lightning strike.
Similar experience the night Russia invaded Ukraine. Mid February Lightning strike so loud I was sure it was game over. Weird.
I have this weird feeling like I've narrowly avoided serious injury and there's versions of me that would have died at that exact moment. It's such a strange feeling. I also often die in my dreams, that's not nice either, sometimes it felt so real like a soldier had me kneel before him before putting a bullet in my head, and in a second before I tried to replay my life and say my goodbyes with the little time I had. That felt so real.
Wow, its like you truly want to die.
@@CHEEEZ-UK it feels real because according to your brain it is real, but even reality is a perception after all, so no you don't and never have existed in multiple dimensions because if you did or do, then why don't you??

Nah…I think it’s the one that scares me the most…my Moms microwave oven is a close 2nd.
As long as China builds their stockpile, the US must quietly increase theirs, the yields need to go up as well
Ah a fellow accelerationist I see
I (love) this chick! We would probably get along well.
Beware the "Should" monster, Lex.
I don’t necessarily think we should. Nuclear war isn’t possible.
Jezz, Im trying to hear what she's saying, but telling me I should act out of fear is stupid. Just a very intelligent, well spoken fear monger.
Ukraine should be well aware of the dangers of recent nuclear disaster and display judicious composure in the face of extreme fear.
Idk how you can say you can watch the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs through virtual reality. No one has ever seen it. We actually don't know what it looked like. I think she was a little too dismissive of that. I totally understand what Lex was saying.
Those are the least of my worries. They have nuclear weapons but nobody wants to use em. Call their bluff 😅
All your worries will either be blown away, or multipled to such a magnitude that all your worries of the days before will seem like the best of times.
All of this goes away, Internet. Lights, running water, refrigeration, fast food, cocktails, society.
All gone.
@@RickydiculusThat's what this world needs, a nuclear enema, lol
Zero point on worrying about it, wtf can we do to stop it 😂
Space program
Don’t worry 😉😏
You definitely need to have a go bag and a plan. If you dont your just irresponsible. With all the chaos in US and the election just around the corner ... its only going to get worse. Dont be the family with no plan.
I don't think Fear is a good motivator for anything.
“I’m not such a big fan of humanity” …then there’s the door lady and someone else will gladly fill your cushy job for you once you leave
The speed of light isn’t constant because time and distance aren’t constant. It’s not complicated. There is so much wrong in cosmology. It’s almost entirely based on assumptions, assumptions of dark matter assumptions of dark energy assumptions of a universe expanding from nothing into oblivion for no reason assumptions of a single age of the universe and the assumption that everything just appeared from nothing like magic. Redshift is from a light source from a greater mass. Distant galaxies are more redshifted because of the greater amount of mass that the light has to pass by. The vacuum energy is from black holes absorbing space time, not from imaginary inflatons. Dark matter is assumed because the correct differing measures of distance and time are not being taken into account. Matter and energy cannot make or direct themselves and they are only going from order to disorder disproving the idea that they made and directed themselves. The problem is that cosmologists are not considering the actual evidence in front of them. The evidence is one giant elephant 🐘 in the room that the (secular) scientists try their hardest to ignore and pretend that the elephant 🐘 isn’t there when the elephant 🐘 of actual physics is there. The speed of light is NOT constant because the measurements of time and distance are NOT constant throughout the universe. The light from distant galaxies only slows down when it encounters the mass inside of a galaxy according to general relativity which is an observed fact. There’s no excuse for scientists to be making up their own version of physics.
WELL, EXTINCTION'S, MASS, DO HAPPEN ON THIS PLANET. OW! OUCH!😢
unpopular opinion. People are more scared of nuclear weapons than they should be and most of the destruction of nuclear war would be undone in a generation or 2.
Awareness is known by awareness alone; is the sole irreducible axiom of reality. To put forth a syllable to the contrary is but to concede.
We will always be the reason for total destruction
Hahaha, the military has lost nuclear nukes in the ocean. Just plain accidents and negligence.
Was he flirting with her lmao
Wars, taxes, road rules, housing prices, cost of living, nuclear weapons, corruption, greed, we're surrounded by them every day and we have no control over any of it.
