    I hope this was a little interesting at least, sorry there was no *earth shattering lore* but I do sometimes enjoy just talking about the technical side of things. If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to do something similar for the Dark Souls 3 Network Stress Test, as the process for breaking into that was *very* different. Depends what people want, though.

    Why the HELL would they remove the chair idea. It's so much better than the lantern. Not only does it make more sense (the phantom in the chair seems to be your character) but it means that each chair in each area can have it's own unique visual look and style to compliment the progression through the game.
    You could then use the chair as a menu to reset the area and it's enemies etc
    Seriously why

      It also makes sense since you always return to the Hunter's Dream (aka you always fall asleep).

      If those messengers would crawl upon you (like in the first cutscene) every time you go to sleep, that would be so cool.

      most probably the publisher wanted something else because it wasn't cool enough from their POV, From doesn't get that much freedom over their own games you know...

    Honestly i find the red glow over the text and the health bar to be a much better aesthetic than the yellow glow and the health we have now, i would’ve liked to see those stay

      It makes sense if we remember that there were rumors at game’s announcement, that in Chalice Dungeons we could take control of bosses and fight against other players.

      it's in all debug menus for souls games (maybe not ds2 but we don't have the debug for it anyway)

      People have made Ai battles using the debug menu in the Souls games.

      it's easy enough to do it in all the games, the debug is a bit complicated to work with simultaneous aggro but even in ds2 we got people like Benzoin-Gum summoning fake phantoms that are in fact bosses/enemies (a bit like ds1 sif summon) to make them fight.

    Probably an expected question but can you take control of the Cleric Beast like you did with the enemies?
    Also great video, sad to see so many things removed but atleast you sate our wild curiosity.

    Any chance you can get access to unfinished versions of some of the weapons not supplied by the alpha starting classes via the debug menu? We've been playing around with some not-entirely-removed functionality of a few weapons in PvP recently (v=3862vvrRudU for example), so it stands to reason there might be some early versions of weapon movesets and functionality hidden in the debug menu if you assign yourself weapon IDs manually.
    Great vid, by the way! I'm super jealous of that debug menu access (Have messed with DS1 debug myself, interesting stuff in there), but it's awesome to see that they still have the enemy control mechanisms that the Dark Souls 1 debug menu had.

    So can the engine debug menu finally confirm what engine the game uses? I've seen multiple guesses online with an internal Fromsoft engine being the most common one, but I'd love to know for sure. Thanks for the great content.

    Can you do a comparison of the textures of objects and geometry with this old version and the new one? IIRC didnt they lower the quality of a whole bunch of textures to make the loading screens shorter or am I misremembering? If im just misremembering and theyre both the same, sorry for wasting your time.
    I also swear that the quality of the textures are better than the ones in Dark souls 3 on PC, but with no way to closely compare them I cant check for myself :(

      They reduced some quality and other effects like ambient occlusion to reduce load times and increase FPS but that was after the initial release. You can play unpatched to get that.
      And yeah I believe the quality of the graphics in general is higher, including more clutter objects and such, in Bloodborne compared to DS3, likely because Bloodborne was commissioned and financed by Sony whereas DS3 was From's own project so they probably just didn't spend as much time and money.

      Yeah and IIRC isnt the xbox one the weaker console this generation? Maybe its because of that they also hasd to lower the general quality to make sure it also ran on it?

      Some effects have lower quality in the Alpha. Some details are unfinished, while others (the most notable being the messengers in the fog walls) had to be scaled down in the final release.

      The Amygdalans that cling to walls in at least Yahar'gul retain their tentacle beards in the final version of the game. The boss fight Amygalans never sport these tentacles, except an usused, unfinished Amygdalan in one of the cut Chalice Dungeons.

    The times of day were probably a left-over from a world tendency idea. But instead, with the time of day, the world slowly creeping more towards midnight and enemies transform further as the night goes on. I really wish they used this idea. Actually, the more I watch your videos, the more I get disappointed with the final release of the game. It seems that Bloodborne started out as something much different and something way more akin to Demon's Souls. Which I would have liked. Oh well

    This is fascinating. Question... how do you know what all the Japanese writing says? Like when you were prompted to “wake the phantom” in the teleportation chair... how did you know that’s what the prompt says?

    The fact that you can even control enemies in the first place must mean they intended for it to be an actual feature at some point, I see no other reason why it would even be programmed in otherwise.

    Lance you said the game attempts to load the hunters dream when you sit in the chair, but the map doesnt exist. Is it possible for you to import the hunters dream from the current version into the alpha and just see what the game makes of it?

      Yes, I did this and showed a photo of it on my twitter a few months ago. The entire map is invisible, but you can walk around as the clipping plane still works. If you try to load an entity from the final game (like the doll or the messengers) the game crashes, so I had to replace them all with the werewolves from the alpha version.
