I think my favourite part about BTD and ninja kiwi is how connected to their community they are. They're basically founded off community contributions and they've remembered that by very clearly listening to their contributions

There are these Balloons, spelled Bloon(s). These Bloons cause the monkeys to die, so they throw darts, boomerangs, bombs, lasers, God’s fire, and fricking mortars at them. Meanwhile the blooms are sending progressively stronger blooms, camouflaged blooms, blooms immune to magic that the monkeys have somehow, bloons immune to explosions and cold, and blimps just to get to the end of a path to somewhere.

1:10:08 I'd just like to address that setting the flash version of battles to "Low Quality" was necessary in competitive gameplay as it actually allowed you to compact towers closer together. It also reduced lag so that's why the quality was so poor. Sick video btw

One of the best Bloons videos I have ever seen
Amazing video, I am so glad I watched all of it! A friend and I started playing BTD Battles 2 the day it released, and were very frustrated when the dartling ninja sniper meta was all we started seeing in matches while we were just trying to level stuff up to try new strategies. As a result, we ended up making a python program that we could leave to afk XP farm by playing against each other in private matches (why you can get XP in private matches to this day is beyond me). It was the first, and hopefully the last time I have cheated in a game, and I am so glad I did it. The XP system was miserable, but I would say it has improved a lot. Amazing content, keep up the good work!
Yknow, I liked Ninja Kiwi for their games, but never really looked passed that. Now, after knowing just how well they actually respond and how community driven they are, genuinely makes me love the games even more. A ton of games don't even have half the community interaction NK has with it's fans, it's actually quite amazing

battles 2 has got to be the biggest case of a poor release killing a game, nowadays everyone acts like every game can pull a no man's sky, but their rebound was impressive because it was an exception to the rule
Survived By was an early-access game teased at the Game awards. It was in development for years, but its launch into early access was so bad it died and the game has been shut down completely.
There's plenty of other games that endured similar fates.
I wouldn't say it's the biggest case of a poor release killing a game, because it's still technically alive on mobile and PC. Several hundred active players is more than like 99% of all fighting games.
maybe part of the reason is that they deliberately lied about microtransactions
BDT5 actually got a major update in November 2022 that added a shit ton of new stuff. A new Special Agent, a new map, a new gamemode, and 10 premium skins meant to recreate the retro art-style of the older towers. Finally, an actual update besides a new map every few months.

This remains one of my favorite videos ever. Not only is Bloons one of my favorite games ever (even though I've only really played 6) the editing and humor of this video completely captivate me. Neuron activation.
Imagine one day Sam appears in a video addressing random questions by community, and at Encrypted's secret he goes: "What do you mean 《Doesn't do anything》? Look, I have a game of Encrypted on mine phone here right now... - he pulls phone out of his pocket and BTD6 soundtrack overlayed with popping bloons can be heard, - ... and if I place correct towers here..."
A few seconds of jolly music pass as Sam stares at his phone, his expression rapidly growing extremely concerned, before he drops his phone and points to person behind the camera, shouting "Cut the records! It's gone!!!", before video ends abruptly, BTD soundtrack on the last few moments being drown out by blaring sounds of emergency alarms...
That would be awesome! Especially if they First Striked his exact location to neutralise him, therefore stopping him from making Encrypted into Decrypted!! :D
I love that in BTD6 they added the callback to N.A.P.S.F.R.I.L.L.S through C.H.I.M.P.S mode, even if its easier in BTD6 it's amazing that they stayed so involved with the community.

I was born in 1997, my entire childhood aligned perfectly with the entire Golden age of flash browser games. I have such a strong nostalgic feeling for the tens of thousands of random forgotten flash games I played growing up; I didn't have a good enough PC to play actual pc games and I didn't get new console games very often because we were kinda poor. Bloons is one of those few flash games that became so successful it broke out of the status of silly flash game into being an actual legitimate full videogame, and for that it'll always be close to my heart.

The fact "You lose as many lives as the bloon had bloons inside it plus 1" is correct.
If a blue bloon escapes, it has 1 bloon inside (a red one) so u lose 2 lives, 1 for the red one and one for the blue one. But it only has 1 bloon inside itself.
The plus 1 comes from the phrasing that it only counts the ones INSIDE so the bloon itself is missing in the counting there.

I actually loved city. I thought the limited amount of towers and town building aspect were pretty unique and made the game feel fresh. Aswell as the others blooms added.

Technically, you got the Plants vs Zombies Wall-nuts, and instant use plants. You also have Inscryption where sacrificing some of your "towers" lets you get better, stronger towers.
People keep mentioning pvz and its kind of my fault I didn't go into it. The type of game I meant was one where your towers die of old age, as in they expire after a certain number of turns. Rather than just a game where they can die

The snowman made of sand is a reference because in New Zealand (where ninja kiwi is) and other countries, christmas is in summer.
I only ever played BTD5 on the browser and on mobile and loved it (I only played it casually tho) - later I wishlisted BTD6.

The Sand snowman in the Christmas Edition of Bloons 2 might be because Ninja Kiwi is an NZ company, and in NZ, Christmas happens at the same time as the rest of the world, but its seasons are the opposite of northern countries seasons due to hemisphere differences. So it might be a nod that in NZ, if you wanna make a snowman during Christmas you'd probably have to settle for using sand instead of snow

Sand 'snow'men are somewhat common on NZ beaches in December but I'm not sure about other southern hemisphere countries.
The Anti-Bloon (sometimes referred to as just Anti-Bloon) is the 5th upgrade of Path 2 for the Super Monkey in Bloons TD 6. The Anti-Bloon heavily buffs the Tech Terror's activated ability and increases its base power considerably. The Annihilation ability now does 10,400 damage across a 120 range radius onto up to 2000 Bloons compared to the previous 2,500 damage, 70 range radius, and its ability cooldown decreases from 45s to 30s. The main attacks also gains +4 damage, has +5 pierce, +10 range, for a total of 5 damage, 14 pierce and 82 range. In addition, it now gains the normal damage type. With its ability or the Ultravision crosspath, The Anti-Bloon can pop Camo Bloons too. And lastly, critical hits are improved: the main attack's crits now occur every 13-17 shots instead of every 15-20 shots, and crits deal 50 damage instead of 10, making the damage per shot for a single target range between ~7.647 and ~8.461, with 8 being the average; and the critical 3rd ability usage equates to 15,600 damage.
This upgrade costs $76,500 on Easy, $90,000 on Medium, $97,200 on Hard, and $108,000 on Impoppable.
Appearance
The Anti-Bloon is an entirely robotic monkey bearing massive gold-muzzled, light grey plasma cannons on each arm, with red fins on the muzzle and a red grill on each cannon. These cannons are fed by red tubes linking to its main body and head, which is a sinister dark grey color with ominous red lines on its torso. All its limbs are the same color, with its feet bearing red metal rings around the ankles, and the arms linking directly into its plasma launchers.
The Anti-Bloon's head bears the same glowing red eyes as its predecessor, Tech Terror, though with bright lines around where the irises should be, and its mouth, previously bearing white teeth in a grim frown, is now a pair of jagged metal jaws hung open as it appears to be shouting something. The screws for the mouth hinge are clearly visible as well, and it also has a fairly substantial underbite owing to the fact much of its faceplate is sunken-in metal plating of a lighter color.
Mechanics
The Anti-Bloon massively improves every aspect of Tech Terror, with 5x base damage, (5 normally, 50 on a crit) +5 pierce, (14) +10 range, (82) Normal type damage, (pops any Bloon) and a buffed crit rate of every 13-17 shots.
The Annihilation ability now deals 10,400 damage, has 2,000 pierce, and 120 range.
Targeting Priorities
The Anti-Bloon's main attack has two independently targeting attacks that each shoot projectiles. These projectiles move straightforwardly.
First: Targets the first bloon visible within its range.
Last: Targets the last bloon visible within its range.
Close: Targets the closest bloon visible within its range.
Strong: Targets the strongest bloon visible within its range.
The Anti-Bloon, just like Robo Monkey, has a secondary targeting option called Alternate Arm, which allows for two simultaneous targeting priorities at any given time. This is controlled by a second targeting setting above the original targeting setting. However, both arms cannot be set on the same targeting priority, and one setting must be changed into a different priority before the other setting can be changed into the desired targeting priority.
The Anti-Bloon's annihilation blast, while arbitrarily high, defaults on Close relative to the robot.
The Anti-Bloon can access the Camo Prioritization targeting priority if given the 0-5-2 crosspath, which when set allows the The Anti-Bloon to prioritize Camo Bloons before any other bloon type.
Summary
The Anti-Bloon is an expensive option for dealing huge damage versus bloons of all types, with significantly stronger plasma bolts and provides it with a much stronger annihilation ability for wiping out many bloons across a wider scale. It is a very powerful single-tower option, but its price tag makes it unaffordable outside of large-scale farming. It is possible to purchase Anti-Bloon in a real CHIMPS game, but it is extremely expensive overall, and will likely only be purchasable by at least Round 92.
In the extreme late-game (Rounds 101+), The Anti-Bloon only serves purpose as a required separate sacrifice for the Vengeful True Sun God, alongside Legend of the Night. Because its general DPS greatly diminishes in extremely high rounds, it is worth sacrificing The Anti-Bloon for a 2x strength True Sun God.
Tips
2-5-0 Anti-Bloon serves as the superior crosspath due to the Plasma Blasts upgrade more than doubling the power of The Anti-Bloon.
0-5-2 Anti-Bloon is mostly restricted to specific challenges where it is impossible to grant the Anti-Bloon with external camo detection.
Place the Anti-Bloon in a place where there is a lot of open space, as this will optimize its main power.
Even though the Anti-Bloon's ability has an extremely large blast radius, place the Anti Bloon in an area where its range will cover lots of track, in order for its ability to deal damage at its greatest potential.

Yeah I remember playing Bloons as a little kid when I got my first personal computer ... graduated from all the base windows game like Space Pinball and Spider Solitaire to flash games and exploring all the flash games on the internet. Bloons tower defense was one of my favorite flash games to play with siblings, we even liked the other non tower defense Bloons games & stalked newgrounds for more unique games to try
It took me waaaay to long to realize that the 'three' in 'Bloons Pop three' refers just refers to having to align 3 bloons to pop them

Brother, thank you for this. Whether people have forgotten or reminisced on the older games, Bloons will forever be one of the most monumental games of all time. BTD 6 has some great stuff in it too that changes things up enough to where its amazing but still feels like the older ones. i think if you asked anyone who grew up in the 2000s if they knew what this game was, 99% of them would say yes!

I recently got BTD5 console edition (years after 6 released on mobile), and it’s been a blast!
I haven’t played a bloons game since around 2010 or so, and I’ve tried the first 3 Td games as well as a few of the dart throw puzzle games.
It’s been great playing TD5, nostalgia overload but with intensely upgraded graphics compared to the others I played.
I actually got BTD6 via a Netflix subscription “free app” thing. (Basically what discord premium offers for real games, but for mostly high quality priced mobile games).
It’s been fun diving back into bloons. And this video was fantastic in documenting the lifespan. Definitely brought me back to age 9, playing the funny monkey dart games.
Bloons TD3 started a very weird obsession when I was a child.
I played around with it, until my 45 year old father decided to try it out.
He still plays Bloons games to this day when he gets the chance, It warms my heart and really makes me smile when I see it.

A bit of an addendum: The beekeeper originated in BTD5 before being added to BTD4 mobile, and the dartling gunner and spike factory were BTD4 expansion pack towers that were added into the BTD4 base game afterward.

Good news everyone!!! Battles 2 is getting one of its biggest updates yet soon, with changes to basically everything still wrong with the game! I think this will finally be the update that gets the back into shape and hopefully will help it regain its player base.

Usually I don’t comment twice but dude this video is so insanely good. I had never heard of BTD before and now I feel like my brain is 5x heavier. The editing is timed perfectly and it makes this such a funny video that I have sat through half of it at this point and it probably will be one of my favourite niche essay videos ever.
