What i took away from this story is that Bing Soy is definitely an interesting and creative person. Thanks for documenting his enigmatic presence! I can't help but feel pride in contributing to this story in such a passive way - the fact that you guys were able to so consistently encounter Bing Soy and watch his antics is a big part of what makes community servers so essential to the spirit of TF2.
hi dane
Bing soy moment
aw yep
we love you uncle dane
Thank you for running your servers Dane, without them we would have never discovered Bing Soy as well as all of the other regulars we've met.
I appreciate you calling him paranoid for burning every inch of the map with his flamethrower while you were actively gangstalking him as a cloak and dagger spy
He must’ve been hearing the footsteps for hours on end 😂
OH THE MISER... I mean irony
Not to mention he landed the shot a couple times
Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you
I just read about Ernest Hemingway killing himself because he was followed by FBI
“He’s acting paranoid” yeah no duh he’s being hunted down by an entire discord server.
Thanks Captain Obvious, really nailed this one asshole
“Jesus Christ that’s Bing Soy”
Ingsoy
which he was probably a part of
Bing Soy was probably looking for exploits or just acting goofy...
Coming from a pixel artist: bingsoy is a really good pixel artist, the way he creates so much detail with such minimal pixels, the way he can express emotions and ideas is incredible... much love to bingsoy
FR it nice
His arts are absolutely amazing
I thought the same thing 👍
I agree but man that profile picture fucking scares me
Serious question how do u become a pixel artist
I think the lonely wizard symbolizes him trying all strategys because in inscription the wizard had to suffer complete sensory deprivation for years, eventually he joins your team and is trying to experience anything and everything possible
STIMULATION
In other words, he plays this way because he wants to feel something.
STIMULATION!
STIMULATION!!!
I thought it meant he was lonely or smth.
Born too late to explore the planet. Born too early to explore the stars. Born just in time for Bing Soy Team Fortress. Truly blessed

Ngl the bing soy story is almost too inspiring.
stars would have been cool; but I can settle for this
Also to explore the ocean
Absolutely
I'm not exactly surprised how paranoid he seemed given that there were *literally* people following him around and watching him constantly
👁👀👁
right cause like theres a group of people watching and finding them in servers + even their youtube
wouldnt that be strange or even creepy if you were the one being tracked down
the tragic life of a overnight celebrity...
You are right, but at this point in the video when I noted that he was being overly paranoid it was very early stages of the investigation so I was somewhat surprised.
@@elmaxoTF2 but as we now see, he was observing you observing him. The man is something special for sure
I admire Bing Soys willingness to open up while also staying committed to his personal privacy

Everyone like this. Elmaxo has to see this now.
thats actually very clever, nice
I like how everyone is shocked at someone actually having fun in this game
now that you put this entire story like that, i see your point

At first I thought it was just a dude chillin but then the wierd glitchy stuff happened in this video, and the readme.txt file and now I feel a bit suspicious but hey
It cud be that it's just a guy having fun
Competitive tf2ers don't know what the word fun is

Yeah, this channel is literally abusing a disabled person. It's not nice.
Bing Soy is the perfect example of a TF2 player: skilled, wacky, creative and unconventional.
He captures the game's spirit well.

I could be wrong, but the house from 23:40 actually makes me deeply reminded of the setting of inscription. All alone, just you and a strange man playing a card game. It could be off but having the loney wizard make an appearance later makes me wonder about it, as the whole game has a somber and sad vibe that bing soy seems too resonate with.
Oh dang that does sound like it could be it
in inscription the part with the short 3d scene where you walk towards the final leshy bossfight looks really similar with the pines n stuff
I personally interpret it as Bing Soy finding comfort in Tf2, a little hideaway where he can experiment and be himself. Then when he sees all the negativity, he feels lonely again, like the lonely wizard in inscription, which can also, like you said, tie back to Tf2 being a hideaway, but still a somber and decaying, and lonely, one.
I think bing soy was saying that things went to far. with just "stick" the photo shows elmaxo discovering bing soy which he is not happy or sad . "sticker" is not just elmaxo but majority of tf2 players recognizing bing soy and not playing with him, just watching him weird. THE MOST weird one is the stickest for me because I think elmaxo went TOO FAR with the discord , youtube and such. Some mf found his fucking house and stalked him ırl. that would suck dude I hope my theory is wrong
This is the most cryptic and loveable TF2 player I've ever seen.
Bing Soy:
-Plays Tf2 in very unconventional ways.
-Sends a google drive link with pictures instead of simple answers.
-Makes impressive pixel art.
-Has great editing skills on his channel.
-Is committed to the silence.
I hope Bing Soy keeps on enjoying and TF2 and inspires others to embrace the wacky and chaotic charm that TF2 can bring.

Tf2 is one of the only games where you can literally stalk someone in game and it is hilarious how insane this is when you take a step back but I'm glad he is getting more attention for his content.
its not paranoia IF YOU ARE RIGHT
He's acting paranoid- said by his stalker
one thing you missed. that path at 28:35 represents he wants to go down the right path. as it is the longest he recognises that it will take time but he has to do it right or he will become sad
Yeah it just represents trial and error to go towards the right path

Can we take a moment to appreciate just how good and clean his art looks? Like that's some genuine skill that he has and it's very cool imo
i was about to say that lmao i agree comepletely
Quite.
I 100% agree. His pixel art is very nice. It's easy to look at, and effective at conveying his messages. I think the reason he communicates this way is because it gets you to think about his messages rather than just hearing words. Words sometimes go over our heads, but if we're forced to think about it, it could very well more easily change our perspective.
I gotta do art like that doe, is nice
What program did he use to make the art?
I think his message to the tf2 community was literal. A blank canvas. The game is yours to interperate just like his drawings. He wants us all to experiment and make art of our gameplay
Bing Soy has a point.
What makes these old games so much fun, is the "Emergent Gameplay".
Stuff that you learn to do out of "quirks" from the game engine. Such as rocket jumping or ninjaneering
Games should learn from making their games simple on the surface, and adding the depth to be more "discoverable".
Modern games are too structured to allow for creativity
That is a beautiful way to think about that.
@@honkhonk8009 a good game with that gameplay is ULTRAKILL, it gives you all the tools you need to do cool things, you don't have to learn them, but If you learn them, the game just gets more fun and rewarding.
As someone who has played Inscryption, the Lonely wizard is a character who obsesses over his mentor, constantly craving approval, but being punished or challenged by his mentor forcing him to live in a dimension with absolutely 0 stimuli of any kind till he kindof goes crazy.
Ill let you figure out what that means for bing soy exactly, but thats a tl;dr on the character.
That burst fire technique on the tomislav is an actual play pro players use, as the first shot is always exactly going to land where your crosshair is, and it saves ammo.
One irregular player, one careful investigator, and one heartwarming message: "Keep an open mind."
That's wholesome.
nice indeed
Bing soy
Yet it's sad how everyone is just a tryhard, never wanting to do anything fun and only going for the win
@@Fafr what if thats just how they have fun though? Dont misunderstand, i love bing soy and their way of doing stuff but as they said, keep an open mind. Unless those tryhards are harrassing people, i dont think there's a need to shame them
@@duiwu3684 I'm sorry for the misunderstanding, what I meant is the type of tryhards exactly like you described in the end of your reply, that will not only harass people worse than them, but harass people like Bing Soy
I have actually played Inscryption with some friends and so in game the wizards whole things is that he was sensory deprived and thus wanted to seek stimulation, so i think the image of the wizard means that Bing Soy no longer gets the stimulation he wants from playing TF2 conventionally, but the unconventional methods give him some overall fun. (just a theory and I know like no one will read this so if you did then thanks to you and to Bing Soy)
Bumping this because more people gotta see it!
I hear what you had to say.
That makes a lotta sense, I just honed in on the loneliness aspect but I like your theory better
That's probably it, and it's very relatable once you've played for a long time. After a certain point the regular playstyles really do just feel like playing with your brain off.
I've started doing different loadouts lately for that exact reason, though I think I'm gonna get weirder with it after learning of this legend.
i was just about to say that!
What an interesting personality! Bing's crypticness only makes it more interesting. I get this feeling that Bing has difficulty connecting to people and it makes me feel sad. Bing clearly has a hacker mentality, experimenting a lot, trying to figure out what the game can do, instead of what it was designed to do.
That sounds a lot like me in a way, but he did it better
The lonely wizard from inscryption is a character who was isolated for a long time and who now craves any sort of stimulation to an extreme degree. Perhaps this reflects how Bing Sou feels: isolated, and wanting to feel a part of a community or game for a bit. Maybe driving off a boredom and monotony they feel in their own life. Idk
To add to this, the lonely wizard when you obtain him as a card in inscryption has two major qualities;
First is that he has an ability called "Clingy" that makes it so he will move from whatever space he occupies in the board to the closest vacant space he can possibly get to any cards the player deploys after him (to note that he does this automatically)
And second that what he says when this ability is activated is "Hello, friend!" as his card art vibrates giddily.
Knowing that, I'm 50/50 on whether or not he has a strong desire to make friends through the game through or despite his quirks OR that he might find the people tailing him clingy and feels jumped on. Bing Soy seems to hold the group in good regard though so I'm more inclined to the former.
he's just having fun dude...
Okay but Bing Soy is an actual artist. The way he portrays emotion is beautiful.
He seems to know pixel art quite a bit too
I love Bing Soy
@@inflectrix that pyro shark art looks beautiful in it's simplicity.

A new niche genre turned into a legend
This man is the pure definition of: "My goals are beyond your understanding!".
Indeed
That's exactly what I was thinking
more like "Nobody understands my goals, not even me"

The Zodiac killer found his way into TF
To Bing Soy's tactic of torching everything as pyro, I think he's doing that to catch any cloaked spy's (because I do the exact same thing whenever I'm alone, entering a new location, or am suddenly approached by someone in my team color. I spam the flamethrower just as a precaution because the spy's keep sneaking in from nowhere and one-shotting me in the back)

This world is rapidly passing away and I hope that you repent and take time to change before all out disaster occurs! Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36) if you believed in Messiah you would be following His commands as best as you could. If you are not a follower of Messiah I would highly recommend becoming one. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life - Revelation 3:20.
Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13 over the course of 1260+ years. Revelation 17 confirms that the beast is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God.
Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc. Have a blessed day!

24:35 That looks like the Lonely Wizard from Inscryption. For context, The Lonely Wizard is a character who studies under the Scrybe of Magiks Magnificus. Magnificus does painful things to his students as tests. Lonely Wizard's test was complete sensory deprivation. When he finally got out, He left Magnificus, and is in constant search for Stimulation. I don't know if this means anything, but maybe this helps. I doubt this comment even matters, this is a year old video, but I got into TF2 soon after getting into Inscryption, so this is something I noticed.
This documentary adventure was so..... incredible. Im in awe goddamn. Amazing video and Bing Soy inspires all

It’s so sad that Bing Soy feels “otherized”. When I was watching his footage I couldn’t help but think “wow that’s what me and my friends have been doing for years just because of how bored we are of the game but still want to play”. Bing Soy if you’re reading this you’re not alone, we’re here for you brother!
Fr, Bing soy is how I play games too, it was more weird to me they saw this player just having fun and decided to stalk his ass, like full on track down his every move.
@@SpecterNeverSpectator cuz all they do is play tf2
he prob means "otherized" irl not in tf2 lol
Not too long after it was released, whenever our server was voted to hightower, me and my friends would exclusively play pyro to airblast people off the cliff as they turned the bend, then taunt as they fell to their deaths. It was one of the few ways we could milk fun out of the hour long map.
Well, you know, he could be saying about his personal life, not tf2. Many people feel very lonely and left alone, even with thousands people on the internet watching you. You don't need a million unknown people that will never help you, sometimes, you just need 1 good friend that will make your whole life easier.
Bing Soy is what happens when you play a game so much that there's nothing left to learn, but you're too addicted to leave.
And thus, you find creative and silly ways to keep the game fun for youself

Nothing wrong with some curiosity!
its a little weird how some TF2 guy randomly shooting rockets, standing still, being a bit wacky created such an impression in the youtuber that he 'had to find out more' and 'who is this guy, he's so creative'. No offense to the video but a lot of his stuff is just usual tomfoolery in games, but the youtube puts so much emphasis and meaning into what he does. 24:45 the character is known as "lonely wizard". As a part of his wizard training, he was banished to sensory deprivation, and ever sense he escaped, he is so happy to do just about anything.
Yeah and that's why that symbol means ''stimulation''
S T I M U L A T I O N
i guess one of the many reasons bing soy does what he does is due to it being stimulating, like yeeting a meat-filled pumpkin into an enclosure of carnivorous animals: wacky kills and his general shenanigans give him the right kind of enrichment
guys i think that its rather like he escaped his inner wizard training which was illusionary and not in his best interest, and since he escaped, he realized that he himself is his own teacher and can do what he likes and this freedom is literally wonderful, because thats what he is and what we all are, wonderful!

His art is super impressive, and the way he expresses himself is genuinely intriguing. I think I speak for most of the tf2 community when I say that I’m excited to see what the future holds for Bing Soy
Reminds me of 'Papers, Please'
I think it's really cute and awesome
Yeah I noticed his answer to "why don't you speak in game chat" at 30:16 was simply "it's complicated".
Makes me wonder more what the reason is.
@@Satherian yeah I can definitely see the papers please style!
@@LordVader1094 maybe he just has trouble connecting with people? ^-^ heart-warming either way
I think the reason he did not type/talk was because he only wanted to let the people who took the time to listen to be able to talk to him.
This was friggin beautiful!
Love this bing soy guy!!
Oh, goodness. Bing Soy. Wayyy back on an old aus hightower server I used to play, I though this guy was a medic bot, but i was absolutely shocked to find out he was real when, on my birthday, he sprayed art he had drawn for me on the wall. Absolute legend and enigma. This was... what, like... six years ago? So this man has been doing this stuff for that long, too.
Wow that’s awesome.
That's really sweet. And very Bing Soy.
that is so fucking sweet i love bing soy, happy next bday homie
The bday picture is on bing soy's deviantart still, pretty cool
This might be one of the most amazing video essays ive ever seen
beo imagine bing soy sees this and hes just like "bro im just trying to play tf2 not become a crime podcast"
"Stickest" feels like an image expressing the concept of self-imposed solitude, heading to a cabin in the woods. Combine that with the TF2 logo window and the previous stick drawing and it seems like it's "I escaped my outcast status in real life by choosing to live in TF2."
I think you hit the nail on its head. In the video he said that bing soy must feel like an outcast in the game which maybe true also, but that picture shows that he feels like an outcast in real life
That is exactly what I thought
That actually makes me a little sad, he maybe feels like TF2 is his home, his safe place.
The word "autistic" resonates in the back of my mind with this, but that's just my thought
Why did people call him strange? He's having more fun than the entire tf2 community combined!
You can be strange and still have fun.
That's exactly why, imagine having fun, strange
I think some of it was that he was first found because of his unusual strategies, which are, well, strange! (And frankly, strange videogame strategies tend to be fun, right?) Then his "strangeness" was cemented by his unorthodox communication tactics, such as communicating through his pfp or sending google drives of pixel art.
Not knocking him in any way, it's sometimes fun to be strange, and sometimes fun to see strangeness.
He is not real
Strange doesn't mean bad, pal. Strange just means out of the ordinary, different.

I was not expecting to see the Lonely Wizard of all things in a TF2 video, but I'm not complaining! Not super surprising a game like Inscryption would appeal to such a character as Bing Soy.
For context on the character, Lonely Wizard is one of Magnificus' apprentices in Act II, and each of the three apprentices is undergoing some cruel trial to prove their devotion. One had their still living head impaled on a spear, the second is Goobert, a goo creature that is in constant pain, and the third is the Lonely Wizard, who is undergoing sensory depravation. When you fight Magnificus, the Lonely Wizard can be seen dancing along the UI border on the bottom of the screen :)
Bottom left drawing at 28:26 could mean he's looking for the correct way to either happiness or succes while avoiding things like stress or even being burned out. The question mark could entail that he doesn't know the way yet, or doesn't know what hos ultimate goal is.
I'm actually blown away by how well he can express his ideas in drawings. Those little drawings to answer the questions were actually some really profound art.
Could he be on the spectrum? Or maybe he's mute?
or maybe he’s just a guy who enjoys being cryptic and mysterious
He could be someone with a disorder. That’s why he plays strange and mostly communicates through drawings or the other things he does to speak.
@@duckduck7189 its amazing nonetheless
@@duckduck7189 more likely the case, it amazes me how much can the internet over interpret things, just a guy having fun and then simply doing weird stuff and funny things for that fun.
Im sure we've all played games like him, saw a gun that while not good or that we simply don't know how to use and start using them in creative ways, and laughing at the people we kill because like come on, I killed you in a Goofy way, I am allowed to laugh at you.
Thanks for bringing Sleepy and I along on this wild ride Max, and keep on rocking Bing Soy ❤

Out of curiosity, why do you play tf2 on 144p lookin graphics for the environment.
@@bibisebi Mainly because TF2 runs poorly, but I also do like how it looks.
i reckonhis keyboard is not in english
I never played TF2, but always heard about it, and saw some clips here and there, this docu encouraged me to download the game for the 1st time, now all I have to do is wait for the download to finish and watch some beginner guides, game looks fun

what I got from the image in my opinion is that TF2 is his comfort zone, and like his home.
Are we just going to ignore the fact that Bing Soy makes ridiculously good art with only 3 colors?! The fact that he communicated through everything but the vc and chat in a way that (most) of it is decipherable is insanely impressive to me.
I love that he stuck to the color scheme that Valve used for drawing things like the icons for TF2's achievements
it was a nice detail
That’s what happens when you limit yourself in a creative setting, you find ways around your technical rules and become a lot more creative because of it. It’s why some music pieces can sound amazing, even if it’s basic or something.
@@TheBeast94YT a musical example would be the old nintendo 8bit soundtracks. so beautiful with such simple instruments
that representation of mixed emotions (happy, stressed) was gorgeous, i seriously paused and looked at it for a good bit. ive hardly played TF2 and i have no clue who this creator is, such a good video though. Bing Soy is amazing lol

Bing Soy seems like an incredibly based individual to me. Highly intelligent and genuinely caring, but also shy and humble.
I think that we all need to learn from bing soy. Life sucks but you have to try and bring a little light into it every so often even if it’s difficult
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR YOU AND THIS VIDEO FOR SO LONG IT HAS BEEN A YEAR
Bing Soy is simply so cracked that we can't comprehend him. He's so ahead of the rest of the human race in evolution that we cannot perceive the true motives behind his strategies. Taunting outside of enemy spawn shows how futile and insignificant we are to him
I want him and scoober to each lead a tf2 team, one is a master of controller bottle slapping, the other is beyond words, literally
His goals… are beyond our understanding
His IQ is a cracked number that he is to good for normal playing

I really liked how you used music from the binding of isaac and disco elysium, two of my favorite games!
I know I'm way late to the party for a comment but I'd like to decipher the first file you analyzed from bing soy, I personally think it depicts and ties into the description from the requiem video, that "good things can come from bad things" and hes explaining that hes always been out of place, both in and out of tf2 and you were someone who he looked up to and enjoyed watching, and so tf2 started to become his escape, and eventually led to and inspired him to try doing all his wacky strategies or trying to spread love in the community, and is probably why its such a surprise and a shellshock when he received so much attention and love, even from some of the people he idolizes
As an art teacher, I am absolutely in love with his answers. To be honest, I think he's an artist: not only in pixel art, but also in his TF2 performances in general.
i instantly became fascinated with his answers and art style! What a guy!!!
Agreed
hes the prime example of being built different
@@rohanpxo7516 never read a truer comment before today.
I went to art school and what Bing Soy does in TF2 is genuinely more interesting performance art than what most performance artists I know do.
Bing soy artistic abilities are simply amazing. The fact that he was able to communicate such complex thoughts with drawings is astounding, I would never be able to do such a thing, no wonder he is behind all these creative strategies. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BING SOY !
Not to mention how great those drawings are! Pixel art is deceptively hard to do will and he nailed it.
Man y’all act like Bing soy is the Picasso of tf2… he played the game by having fun doing random shit.

@@Mentelgen-1337Tf he's talking about the pixel art 💀💀
holy crap I love the art Bing made for the questions O:
I think stickest is him saying how he was lost in a mental forest (seeing how he feels isolated and sad) and then he stumbled upon a warm place he could call home, TF2. And it’s community
The camping his team's own tele is anti-spy and extremely effective. I've done it myself and it often repeatedly kills the same spy.
That something i was thinking of too, i guess is better that way to kills the spies than the pyro lol
24:31 In inscryption, the lonely wizard is a character who has been trapped in complete isolation for most of his life, and seeks out any form of stimuli after being freed. This probably means he was feeling lonely and isolated, and is looking for connection through tf2. The cabin in the woods in the “other” folder also seems to resemble leshy’s cabin from inscryption, so take this as you will. It’s worth mentioning that inscryption had a huge ARG associated with it.
It could also open up the possibility that all the wacky tactics that Bing Soy has up his sleeves is his form of "stimulation" (alluding to the lonely wizard in inscryption) because his tactics are so out there and never done before, meaning that the dopamine rush or stimuli taken from performing the task makes him embody the character of the lonely wizard by trying things that nobody else has ever done in an effort to find stimulation.
Damn bingsoy just like me fr
i also think that now, that house in stickiest is likely trying to say that after all this, he still feels lonely and thinks that tf2 is his only home
which is just saddening
My man scourges the map with the flamethrower just to leave no chance to OLD_DATA
@@impostrous no one can get the OLD_DATA if you just just burn the entire planet

That Inscryption character is called the "Lonely Wizard". He was tortured for many years by total sensory deprivation, and by the time you meet him his whole character revolves around how he is completely obsessed with any form of stimulation after having been denied it for so long. Anything that happens to Lonely Wizard, good or bad, is euphoric just because it's better than no sensation at all
I interpret this as Bing Soy being lonely, or perhaps having been lonely at some time in the past, and now he is getting a sense of euphoria when he is recognised in a crowd for his unusual behaviour
Interesting take, I can definitely see that being the case. If that's the way bing wanted us to interpret it then I hope he's doing good.
I think it also had something to do with the graphic at the beginning of one of his videos. The one that shows a stick figure getting progressively sadder, with the description, something good can come out of something bad.
I think that means that he was severely depressed, and now that he's out of it, no matter what happens, at least it is something. Depression is described as a lack of any emotion, so this would make sense with your prediction. Now that he's no longer depressed, even the most crippling sadness is better than nothing.
Also, the stick, sticker and stickest image could mean that he was isolated from people, and found an escape in the form of tf2
@Jo your cringe
I thought it just meant it’s STIMULATING.
Bing Soy should trademark his suicide spin shot as something like “the Bing Bang”
"The Soy Shot"
I like the sounds of that.
I don't think he'd trademark it, I think his whole thing is "Play the game however you want" and if you wanna jump off cliffs and spin headshot people, do it, nobody owns that
@@Baal890 But I'm sure it would at least be a way to honor someone who most of this community agrees embodies the very spirit, heart, and soul of TF2.
And it would get noobs to stop calling them trickshots like TF2 is Call of Duty.
We're still trying to cement the reason why he did his suicide spin shot in the first place, I think... and we, uh. I guess we can call it
the Bing Bang Theory
This is more then tf2. It a life lesson. And i didn't not expect that 1 bit from this video. Kinda had me thinking.
I don't even play TF2, but Bing Soy (and this video) is inspiring me to make art without worrying about it being polished or anything. I really like how Bing Soy is able to capture so much in their drawings!
