  • I recently picked up a 1500 Drifter as a project bike and decided to film the teardown of the bike in preparation for painting and replacement of the tires. I thought that it just might help out a fellow rider who is planning on doing a little restoration work.

    Just picked up a 99 1500 and need to get new tires. Perfect to show ease of disassembly. Glad this video is still on here.

    Great Video. I have a 2002 1500. I am getting ready for painting. Glad I don't have to remove rear wheel for fender. Front seems easier. Thank you for this in depth tutorial.

    Have the wheel covers for my 1999 Drifter 1500 and saw this video as an easy way to install them myself. Thought I would have to have a shop do the back wheel but looks very easy to do with a decent motorcycle jack. Thanks for the video.

      I recommend getting the manual and just take your time , it's really not that hard. I think I seen you on the Facebook Drifters page. Good Luck!

    Great video. I'll be doing this pretty soon. Thanks for making it look simple. Any pics or short video you can make on the dual exhaust? A very sought out upgrade in the Drifter community.

      The Dude who sold me the bike told me he paid a famous air brush artist 4K for the paint job. It was the first thing to go!

    Does this teardown work for a 99 Drifter also?

      +Wolf 74 . I think it would be the same. There isn't much if any difference between the two.

    best place to order a seat?

    • @MsBijouu
      @MsBijouu  Před 7 lety +2

      Corbin in my opinion is the best place to order a seat for this bike, but others would argue that other after market seats are better. They all seem to need some work to make them fit correctly but Corbin seems to have the least problems.

      +Bam Bam Hello, this is RockinRonny from the Drifter forum. Unfortunately it's not for sale but it is one of the reasons I bought the bike last year, you just can't find an exhaust system like it any longer. I thought you sold your Drifter and moved on to a different Kawasaki?

      I'm this close to buying another Drifter. Can't believe how much I miss it already :-)

      They are a fun bike to customize. My tank and fenders just came home from the paint shop and now off to the pin striper then back for another clear coat then I can finally start rebuilding. By the way I use Tracy's utube account (my wife) she rides horses not bikes.
