I really like these video where you demonstrate the items you sell. After my funds recover from the holidays, I look forward to doing a little shopping at your store. I really appreciate all the the videos and education you provide Alex : )
I received the camera today its an amazing tool. no more burning fingers and spending hours to find shorts. thank you
thank you Alex shopped at your store yesterday and ordered one of these. Great video!!
Looks nice. Hoping to see future repair video using the thermal camera. Look forward to hearing "consider it fixed".
I just bought a FLIR for my wife but it was the one that attaches to her cell phone. It's a nice unit but I paid almost as much for that as the one you're showing here. I wish I had seen this before since I wasn't sure if those cheaper units were really worth the money so I opted for the brand name.
I would have preferred something like what you're showcasing and it has a bit more options as well. May consider one of these for myself!
Very good review. I like that you're doing more reviews recently. Even if I don't need a device, you made me feel want it 😁
I bought one based on your recommendation. Thank you, now it'll be months before I get something with a short in it.
Many thanks, I needed camera for my work didnt know what to look for.
happy new year to you , big boss and the wife . we lov your videos .
_Alex, PIP seems very valuable because you can visualize the hot spot in the PIP window, while using the perimeter image to locate the position of the hot component._ 👍
I just went shopping at your shop yesterday lol love it
seems to me like a must have tool if you work on devices that don't power on. ill be adding this to my list of devices to buy
I'm a beekeeper as a profession. For years I have done cutouts removing bee hives from people's homes and businesses from 1) my knowledge of how a building is constructed from being a Carpenter for years and 2) knowing bees and their behavior and psychological reaction to inputs. I've done very well in saving everyone a lot of money from not doing any more damage than absolutely needed, but every once in a while I get surprised by how large a hive is and where they have gone to. I tried to get out of the cutout side of the business because I'm not getting younger, but mainly because a FLIR unit is so incredibly expensive. A cheap unit wouldn't fit my needs. This unit I believe would be perfect for providing me with what I need and not breaking the bank. Thank you for the review.
the most trustable reviewer.. thankx Mr Alex
So to help others - that "emmisivity" setting works to help against the "reflectivity" of things like PC boards VS wood/brick.dry wall etc. Try different settings and you'll appreciate just how sensitive you can make it! I got one of these in March, and it's been a game changer for me.
@@BlondieSL There is a chart on the last page of the user manual that comes with the camera that lists all of the various emission ratings for different materials
@@PracticalKnow Thanks - saved me the work.
@@TheOregonOutlaw No problem!
@@BlondieSL Emissivity is a measure of a material’s ability to emit infrared energy. It is measured on a scale from just about 0.00 to just below 1.00.
Low vs High EmissivityGenerally, the closer a material’s emissivity rating is to 1.00, the more that material tends to absorb reflected or ambient infrared energy and emit only its own infrared radiation. Most organic materials, including the by-products of plants and animals, have an emissivity rating of 0.95. These are ideal surfaces for accurate temperature readings.
Substances with very low emissivity ratings, like highly polished metals, tend to be very reflective of ambient infrared energy and less effective at emitting their own electromagnetic waves. If you were to point an infrared thermometer with fixed emissivity at the side of a stainless steel pot filled with boiling water, for example, you might get a reading closer to 100°F (38°C) than 212°F (100°C). That’s because the shiny metal is better at reflecting the ambient radiation of the room than it is at emitting its own infrared radiation.
@@PracticalKnow I posted an educational over-load on the subject for those wondering. LOL Those cams are "DECENT" for the $, just not too sure they're needed by most people.
I wish I have one of those. Thanks for your videos...
Thank very much Alex. I'm coming to buy this model 😊😊😊
There's a $40 snap on macro lens for this unit too. You could see individual SMD caps glowing! NRF, you should sell the macro lens too.
I agree the added lens could be useful
He does now.
thank you, I don't know how you do it, quality videos daily
Region of interest seems to be a way to stop the device from measuring anything outside of that area - so adjacent reflections/lights/heaters won't attract the measurement cross. Quite interesting feature I think as you often see the measurement cross wander towards things which are... not interesting! :)
Very nice review, very good explainings. I like your reviews, much details but short and sharp but very informativ. Thank you for the review.
Wow, thanks for demonstration. Very nice thermal camera.
Excellent device. paid for itself out of the box. Recommend for all techs doing board level work
Run a PC repair businerss myself over in the UK. Would love to get into motherboard/PCB repairs
I know I'm very late to this review but these products are being searched by consumers constantly - so thanks for the review!
Region of interest means that the temperature measuments will only show inside and not outside the green rectangle.
Impressive value (!)
1) Can you store videos?
2) Can you analyze stored pics (getting temps for various points)?
I have both a Flir Exx model and and a UNI-T model. I would rate the build quality of the Exx model higher than UNI-T model, but that being said, the quality UNI-T manage for the price is really good, higher than some other similarly priced thermal imagers for sure!
When it comes to the actual performance, the Flir Exx model is superior in every single feature, 60Hz, large sensor and lens, adjustable focus and much more...
Still when having that high performing thermal imager, I purchased a UNI-T 690A (120x90) due to the very low cost but good enough performance for ~90% of the things I use a thermal imager for, and I dont have to worry about dropping it, using it in the rain or letting other people borrow it, something I would not do with the expensive Flir.
When using these thermal imagers that cannot change focus distance, I would suggest that you look into using a ZnSe lens to shorten the focus distance even more, so you can get up much closer which is very useful when doing PCB work. Most recommend a ZnSe 20mm 50.8mm CVD lens (or cheaper PVD could be used).
Even the "Entry Level" Flir E54 in the Exx line is listed at $4000, so we're talking quite different animals here.
I have the same thermal camera and I love it!
UNI-T usually provides best buy products, or inferior product for inferior price. I want to say probably this is very good for the money as all of their products, but is it really good for someone that needs thermal imaging camera depends on application. Here you say it can be used to detect overheating circuit. That is cool. thx for the video!
I have the same unit and absolutely love it. Can't recommend it enough..
Please also review the BST hot air station you stock.
You should take the stuff you sell apart, like the voltage injector and this IR camera (also the JBC soldering iron clone you are evaluating)
This way you can see how well or cheaply they are built!
Great you got me to order one :) i have Looked for one byt coudnt decide. Now you helped me :) you do great videos and a great guy. I have small youtube channel RB Retro Bunker i do retro repair and games and more but not as good as you. But i try and learning. Happy new year from sweden
Good review. Thanks. I purchased one
Wish this would have been posted before x-mas. would have been a cool gift. Still going to pick one up though lol.
Brilliant review. Need one of these as its better than mine. I remember a while ago you had to replace your battery on your flir. Can these batteries be replaced?
I don’t need one but at that price I want one! Good vid 👍🏻
The mid to high end uni t products are of very good quality.
Nice uint for the price. Would be very handy. Thank you for the explanation. :)
I really enjoy watching your videos, but this one in particular seemed very particular to me, it reminded me of Adam Sandler's movie "Zohan", when he goes to the electronics store and wants to look for work, a hug from a distance
I admit uni- t are doing some really good products.
I bought some DMM and thermal camera in the last 4/5 months and as I said all these stuff I get are very strong, no software bugs and last but not least at reasonable price.
I compared my old uni-t mulimeter with the new one and seems not the same factory.
@@Arvidje no doubt there are many options out there.
i suggested this a while ago good to see you looked into it, i have the 120s 190x90 25hz the only issue i have is the calibrating is annoying while trying to find short circuits other then that it is perfect and IT IS NOT CHEAP PLASTIC like the other brands, these UNI-T devices are tough and it is a piece of hardware.
I was looking at 120s because it seems good and affordable.I am trying to find a review about it,this is what got me here....Its the only camera with 120x90 i found so far that is around 160e.
Hey, can you adjust the focus manually like on the flir? Also the camera is clearly not 25 frames is it 15?
@@woofaki5550 UTi320E check it out....
Can you link the app or download you used to view on computer?
You found a very good and practical thermal camera.
The price is a steal indeed.
Trying to find something simular or cheaper with the same options is going to be M.I.
Awesome explanations bro keep rocking bro 👍👍👍
That’s insane. Awesome unit.
Alex, how do you use the camera to mirror the screen from it? I have a HDMI capture device and i use an adapter from USB-C to HDMI, but no image is showing on OBS Software. Thank you!
just got 1 of these a couple of weeks ago, very impressed. the little macro lens is good for phone phone board diag
I noticed a lot of mods are available for this cam including macro lenses that you can make or buy that allows for a closer focus distance.
@@NorthridgeFix great video Alex.
I just got the exact same one last week along with the macro lense - the macro lense really does magnify the hot spot, and the definition is awesome. I’m so glad I cancelled my previous choice..👍
U should try out Hti ht-301- 384x288 resolution 25hz refresh with manual focus for under $800. Flir go away flir. Flir 320x240, 9hz is around $2500.
I'm an hvac guy, I really like the resolution & fast response. I use it with note 20 U.
Good review.. the only problem is that the image output is not real time unlike what you are using...
Will it run from the charging cable if the battery is dead or no good?
Does it have a separate connector for charging or does it use USB?
Does it still connect to the computer when charging?
I have seen some people attach a macro lens to thermal cameras.
It is a special lens for IR.
You probably have to make an adapter.
Think you Alex, in Tunisia le cost is 2 238,501 TND (779,25 $)
LOVE IT GOOD JOB TY 👍😊
love yours passive aggressive attitude
Yes, it's excellent bang for the buck.
It's a pity you cant disable the automatic sensitivity.
I would love to disable the on-screen UI-HUD
I just bought a used Flir-cx3 for $275. I’m a casual repair person. I hope that wasn’t a mistake
That’s an awesome camera 😍😍
Thx. Great video
hello, i have a uni t pro device, when the image is saved, i can't see the photo as secrets, how can i see the last photos taken
Sir i am your big fan...please teach me some gpod repairing skills....🙏🏻🙏🏻
Please do a comparison side by side with flair cam
Review some macro lenses for it too.
I like the flir more cause of its camera quality.
Hi,
I'm planning to buy a thermal image meter, is there anything better than the uti260b ? or I should go on and buy this one ?
Thanks!
Awesome unit !
Amazing thanks brother
Great review .
I have this thermal camera but doesn’t look good on low gain. My hand is not clear bright red as yours. Do you need to update some kind of drivers?
nice demo.
I have got this camera and yes everything is just amazing
I really like it and made my life much easier
Thanks Alex
I don't repair electronics yet you somehow made me want one of these cameras! Keep bringing the great vids brother.
Love from UK
Is the battery user replaceable and can you get spares, or is this device destined for the trash when the battery inevitably dies?
The iSecus Micro Lens for it seem to make it remarkable. Wonder if that's the case in real life testing. 🤔 Idea for a future video? 😛
Can you do something with backfocus? Only your face is focused and rest of screen which is 80%, is blurred. After a while it hurts to watch. Just turn it off in settings.
I have one. I highly recommend it
Does the camera still working as of now?
Very good cam
Hi Alex - (or anyone else who can help please) how do I find a link to the software download for this camera - thank you..👍
Hi Alex, this doesnt seem like 25Hz, more like 10 to 15Hz. Does the display on the device refresh faster than what we see on the video, which is through the USB connection?
@@Arvidje thanks for the info. It looks like any other 9Hz thermal camera out there, including my Fluke VT02. I have also spotted some shadiness, they don't mention the LCD's resolution. All reputable brands publish both the IR sensor resolution AND the LCD resolution. It's entirely possible that the advertised resolution is for the LCD, and not for the IR sensor, and that the IR sensor resolution is less than what is advertised. Yes, I'm fully biased against Chinese brands, they've earned it over the years.
Absolutely NO WAY that YOU could distinguish between 10,15, and 25 hz..... Shut up.
The spec says "≤25Hz" I don't see what the point is in listing a spec as being that. It just means 25Hz is the maximum it'll ever be and means nothing really. I have a 9Hz thermal camera and this looks even slower than mine so I think your 10 to 15Hz is being charitable!
what about a fluke Ti480 , does it good for electronic repairing ???
I didn't see... do you need close-u lens for PCB examination.
So how does that compare to the fluke VT04A
Does the software run under linux? I run OBS on ubuntu linux, will obs detect and use the camera as another input without the need for a linux driver?
was able to connect the thermal camera to OBS on ubuntu ..... works fine. 👍
You can also use this camera with OBS and probably most other video capture software
Yeah, I suppose it just shows up like a webcam video source in OBS
Nice one, though it doesn't have this FLIR image mode where edges are highlighted.
It has more then enough features to make it an absolute great buy for the price. I don't know what highlighted edges are and I don't have that on my Flir E60. But this is not a Flir and you're not paying a Flir price.
It does have a blending mode that uses the visible light camera to blend with the IR camera similar to Flir's MSX technology. I don't think Alex demo'd that feature in this video though.
UNI-T great gear 👍
can it see mices behind walls and floors?
sir can this detect minor half shorting like
0.001
0.004
0.010..etc
plz reply
what fluke multimeter do you use? and what is that other multimeter too im saving up to buy those tools.
Fluke 87V
DE-5000 LCR Meter
How accurate is the camera?
Guys what are your thoughts on the Uni-t uti120s model? I purchased that one. This one was still too expensive for hobby use loolz
Can anyone tell me the temperature range for a shorted component.is 150゚F considered a short?
Hi I have A-BF RX-500 its above 90 fps ...is it good too or not??
Hi Alex, It's so expensive, nearly imposible to buy in some countries. please make a competition for this one.
Can it detect moisture / water leaks
Im a technician but dont have cool gadgets like yours. 😢 I only have soldering iron and multitester.
Is the 260B a discontinued unit? edit: I found a reference that states that the "B" is industrial use, while the "K" version is predominately for medical use.
The K version is only 30˚C~45˚C, no good for our work
