  • In this Uni-T thermal camera review, I'll be testing out the amazing UTi690B which offers great value & performance in a robust package. Perfect for hobbyists, DIYers & home owners looking for a good thermal camera at a good price.
    In my opinion, the Uni-T UTi690B is one of the best bang for the buck thermal imaging cameras currently on the market. It works well for many different applications including: Electronics, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, home inspection, automotive & mechanical, RC hobbies, robotics and more.
    The UTi690B is the exact same camera as the Uni-T UTi260B, but named differently for the Eastern marketplace. It has the same specifications, same great performance, build quality and will accept the same accessories such as lens caps and close up macro lenses.
    If you're in the market for thermal camera, but don't want to spend too much; hopefully this review will help you decide if Uni-Trend's UTi690B (or 260B for that matter) has the features and overall quality that you are looking for in a thermal infrared imaging camera.

    A fantastic review of the camera. It seems a really powerful unit. There was a question of analysing the image on the PC. It means: you can post process the image. Which means you can click with your PC mouse on a specific area on the image to see the temperature, after downloading to the computer . Some FLIR devices for example can export the image and the temperature of each infrared pixel.

    Thanks to you, I was able to purchase a macro lens for my Uti260B.
    This will allow me to detect chip component degradation at close range.
    I was also concerned about the deterioration problem of lithium-ion batteries.
    Your review video was very helpful.

    Very interesting video ( as always ) about this product ! Looks like a good buy for the price. But I can't stop laughing with your reaction when you touched the hot wire !!! Tell me that was staged !!!

    • @Rchelicopterfun
      @Rchelicopterfun  Před 2 lety +3

      Haha. We'll wish it had been staged. Now I worry & think twice every time I go to bed or leave the house for the day with a print going. I was so shocked to see on the camera how hot that wire was getting, and that was just the front side that was intact. The hidden back side where the wires had melted through along with the mesh loom must have been well over 200C considering the amount of melting and blister on my one finger that resulted. May have hammed up the reaction a bit with camera rolling, but the pain was real 😄

      HVAC guy used one to see where there was leaks in the duct work or leaking windows insulation. What is the range ? Use one while camping to see if any bears or Bigfoot is approaching.

    Nice review - I'm happy with my 260B. Curiously, *all* thermal cameras have seemingly dropped off uni-t's website! Wonder if it's a fluke, or they've sold them off? A shame, if so. :edit: Disregard, they're on a site completely separate from their 'meters'! :edit:

    Great review. Do you think it would be useful enough to see and check small boards with small smd components like 0402 and 0805 sizes? Maybe when using it with macro lens? I find that it this will only be limited to bigger components and boards, just like what you have shown on the video.

    I know you said its a 25hz refresh rate for the imaging. What is the screen quality like overall? Is it bright enough to use during the day in daylight? In shade? Any funky angles that make the image not viewable like some of the older LCD screens? Are the batteries self serviceable?

    • @Rchelicopterfun
      @Rchelicopterfun  Před 2 lety +2

      All the specs including display resolution are are shown in the video or in the link. What you see in the video is what you get for display quality/resolution. Can see the display fine outdoors during daylight. It's a standard TFT display so don't expect it to compete with direct sun, not that anyone would be trying to use a thermal camera in direct sunlight anyway. I discuss LiIon battery access in the video.

    Is this really a genuine Uni-t product because it does not show on their website? The fact that you need to download another model's (260b) software to use on that camera does not convince me much. Also I have a 690b and downloaded the software (260b's obviously) but although I can see a live image I cannot analyze the photos that I have taken, anyone encountered this please?

    • @Rchelicopterfun
      @Rchelicopterfun  Před rokem

      Thought I covered the numbering suffix question adequately in the video and video description. Again, the 690B is the exact same camera as the 260B. The 690B is marketed in the east, the 260B globally. Both 100% Uni Trend products.
      No, the software is not specific to the 260B. It's Uni Trends UTi PC Live Screen Software for several different models which include both the 690B, 260B, and a few others. No idea what you're asking about "analyze the photos" on the computer afterword?
