Great vid! Can you recommend a glue that will hold back the plastic wood trim? The wood trim cracked and is lifting up by the headlight switch. I just to to glue it back down again..
That is a good question. Unfortunately I do not have a reccomendation. I have been trying a few thing to fix so de - lamination on some saab trim panels I have, we may have an answer soon. If anyone has a reccomendation, please comment!!
Removed these today and wrapped in carbon fiber vinyl. Your tutorial was spot on. Saab designers did a great job on the switches and connections. Should have done it years ago.
Thanks so much for posting this video. I was prepared to spend an entire weekend doing this job on my 9-5, but thanks to your detailed video, I was done in just over an hour. It would have been even quicker, but a previous owner botched some of the radio wiring that I had to content with. Seriously - I really appreciate your good work!
Best video I've seen online for doing this, went to the junkyard today and wanted to get the dash bezel off, this helped me get it off in like 20 minutes. That radio cage is tricky, but the rest was simple. Thank you for posting this!
Hey, thanks for doing this info. I've just swapped out the silver dash from my dead 2002 Aero to my daily drive, a 2004 Aero wagon, which for some weird reason which almost stopped me buying it, had a wood grain dash. I didn't need to take off the steering wheel cowling or the stalks, although it was a bit tight putting the dash in the 04 without taking them off. I also have another 2002 Aero that again has a wood grain dash, so now I am thinking about doing some paint tests to see if I can replicate the brushed aluminium (aluminum if you're foreign, lol) The dead Aero was my first ever Aero and my second ever Saab, it overheated up a stretch of climbing highway about 40 kilometres south of Auckland, New Zealand, I was doing around 145 kph at the time and was 120 kms from home ... didn't cry but it was a close thing. I have overheating alarms in both my live Aero's now, love these cars too much to risk losing one again. Thanks again.
.... and because of your video it took my about 30 minutes to get the first dash out, 20 minutes to get the second dash out, and maybe 10 to put the first dash in the second Aero ... although I'll be damned if I could find the plug for the ESP button, but it was getting dark (we're heading into winter here) I'll open it up again another day and have a longer look for it.
Outstanding video! I really think you should educate others on the proper way to present a high quality production. Clear, concise, informative and dare I say progressive! Again...thanks so much for taking time to save me some time.
The blanks on the left hand side are for rear bumper fog lights and brake lights mostly for wagon versions but sedans do have have the single switch for the break lights
They don't sell black bezels your can get the plastic ones or paint it, they have 3 or 4 wood grain veneers, carbon fiber, aluminum looking plastic that's the options basically

You could use one of the epoxy pour kits and get creative with it

Excellent vid.
I thought the steering wheel would have to come off but you have proven otherwise.
Thanks for recording the process. Your video made my job much easier. Much appreciated.

Very helpful! Used this to replace the dash on my '07. Almost identical steps except for radio/HVAC removal due to the facelift.
Thank you! Glad I could help
What was the diffrence, anything important to look after?

@@sappert4939 Please let me know, I was curious about that while I was putting this together
I have a 2001, but I hate the wood grain. Where do I purchase a black bezel?
I've had good luck with Ebay for things like that. Best of luck
