Once you pulled the tent down to the ground pile up snow against the edges to keep out the wind
I did mate a bit later on
You need a stove fan to spread the heat more evenly.
Nice idea
Finally a tent with a stove I wouldn't be in danger of knocking over in the night
It's a good tent mate but not in the wind
@@englishwoodsman when I set it up I thought I may need some extra guy lines you have just verified that with your video mind you it's the first time you've used it so you did well
I use snow or dirt around the outside of the tent to stop the drafts.
I remember capping in similar a few times when I was younger, there was nothing hot about the tent, sleeping bag warm, if you was lucky 😂
The very first time in snow, I knew nothing of sleeping bag ratings, to me a sleeping bag was just that, and no air mat or air bed either, just the floor, I bloody froze
Sounds like a very unpleasant experience 😂
I love your videos u r a all natural man no made up bullshxt. Ty for being you.Stay safe out there. Lots of love
I've watched youtubers pack mounds of snow all around the outside base of the tent when it's very wind and cold. You pack the snow up so the bottom rim of the tent is embedded into the snow and you can't see the bottom of the tent. It prevents the wind going through the inside of the tent. Looks like the packed snow might have been helpful in your conditions.
Enjoyed the video.
Seconding this. Yeah sometime with a shovel could have cut The wind draft quite a bit.
@@mrspeigle1 third this i call it a snow curb, i usually try and go 12 inches
@@jscudds Yup and if you've got the time energy and available resources you can drop some saplings to create additional wind breaks, or cut and pack the snow in such a way as to assist in creating wind breaks. Basically you build a snow fort around your tent To give it shelter from the rest of the wind. This isn't always viable but it's a possibility to keep in mind when you're doing this kind of camping.
That would have been the first thing I did after erecting the tent 😂
I love these bits: tubes trial inserted the wrong way, Velcro pad inserted the wrong way. Sod’s Law, and so honest, not a sleek post production with everything airbrushed out, just truth. I learned from those examples. Also, when I get really cold I definitely think even slower. GREAT VIDEO!
That beef stew looked great. A pan of hot homemade biscuits with butter and jam. It would have been so good.
Wind does certainly make everything more difficult. Like it isn't hard enough with cold weather and condensation. Good food helps.
Currently watching this while camping in 55km/h wind 😂 a least its not snowing here
I am Scottish living in Oz. Summer is arriving but i love watching hot tent camping in the cold in Canada, Alaska, Russia and Pommieland. Thanks for the vid
Hi so do l and l am Scottish 😅😅😅
Great video. Watching from my warm cozy bed
This deserves to be the highest views so far I think it was very entertaining.
Ps the beef you used was enough for a family of 5.
10:32 sir your reaction was so funny😂
Really enjoyed that buddy, cheers for bringing us along 😀 👍
Thin primark fingerless gloves are king, Dan.
Keep your Hands warm so you can still use your fingers!
That was class mate. Was laughing at the socks burning lol. Stew looked so nice. Great camp mate loved it. 👍
Them socks burning was funny 😆
I think this channel is the only one that makes me hungry every single time :) great video as always
I am planning bigger meals for next time mate
Was sitting at home last night, the crazy winds battering everything in sight outdoors thinking 'bet some ones camping out in this' and yes here you were lol. Great vid, love those hot tents, really want to get one.
czcams.com/video/adBFiqfQKMw/video.html 😊
When my kids were little I always had a massive pan of stew kept warm on the stove every Saturday morning in the winter, so they could run in and out and eat something good with lots of bread to mop up the juices. Great video, food looked amazing ♥️👍
Put some wooden stake into the ground upright next to the stove, so the stake keeps the tent walls away.
Well done mate. Many other youtubers had to give up their camp that night!
Mate i was close to going home for a different tent
@@englishwoodsman I would have gone home and stayed home in the nice warmth.
Can see how that water heater could do the job with a base camp, but for an individual its overkill, cheers for showing.
great film dan, takes me back to being on exersize on snow blizzard breacon beacons in the army 1980s,some hellish camp outs,ya done well mate no woosing it! like you said at start its what you really want once in a while, winter storm and a cozy camp, brilliant dan.
great video ... this hot tent looks a lil to floppy in the wind ... alot of air coming under the stove compartment ..... hats of to ya! this was a rugged winter stay!
Thankyou for watching,
I am hoping to give this tent another try next weekend see if i can make it look better ,
Revengeance love it lol
So cool with all the snow. Winter is a great time of year. Thanks a Lot.
I hope we have more snow for next weekend
It’s too bad all these “new” hot tents don’t have snow skirts. It makes a huge difference in more ways than one. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.
Tough camp. Thanks for showing how real it can get out there.
Well done for just filming that. Wind is a pain in the arse. Hard work filming that and appreciated by me. A great vid. Greetings from Scotland.
English woodsman it's in the title mad dogs and English woodsmen go camping in a threat to life storm!!!! Then seems to be chilled cooking and doing an eatathon!!! Made me laugh even when Dan was doing a nervous laugh!!! You certainly do bring great content and food to the channel!!!! 👍
Got to make the most of life mate,, looks like lock down will be back soon
@@englishwoodsman no lock down if people obey the rules!!! There's alot of 'rebels' in the graveyard at the moment!!! HANDS. FACE SPACE!!! Stay safe 👍

@@mumbaistreets4319 VACCINATE 👍
That's up to the individual
You total legend!
Well thankyou mate
Awesome man!!!
That kettle’s cleaver! 👍🏻
It's just a bit too small for my stove
Fair play Dan, that looked a tough one. Good video. Thanks and stay safe.
Hi mate thankyou for watching
It’s like a home from home
Soups, stews and chili are excellent for cold winter nights
Hi mate thankyou for watching
That stew looked delicious the only thing missing was dumplings
I don't like dumplings mate
@@englishwoodsman i love em, each to their own lol
I absolutely love your videos ! So entertaining !!
gr8 vid dan loved it
Thanks, Dan, for another beautiful, inspiring and informative video! ❤
Well done Dan.
couldnt stop laughing when the pan shut on your finger, had to pause the video for 10 mins
Great video thank you Dan. I got one of those water heaters with my outbacker stove and you have to put the tap round the back it’s a bit of a pain!! And as you said i had to take it off otherwise it would boil dry. So I don’t use it when I’m by myself easier to just use a kettle. Nothing wrong with taking your own wood ether. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
Love winter camping..Great video.👍👍
Just ordered a Stovehut, first foray into hot tent camping, was thinking about it but your video sealed the deal
Hi kris the stovehut will be great in normal weather this time in this video the wind was just to much for the tent ,
Great video. Some good ideas there.
Great video There's nothing that will get in the way of your art! 😃
Enjoyed watching!
Class this, the snows always been my favourite.
Snow camping in good but freezing
@@englishwoodsman Haha oh yeah, picked the right food though stew is perfect for them conditions.
Great fun , It made me smile how well you coped really. Camping is really all about a bit of common sense and using what you've got. You can pile up the snow on the bottom of one side of the tent. You don't want to block off all the ventilation. But I am an expert as well as I have watched at least 4 or 5 CZcams Videos. Ha Ha Ha Ha
Thankyou for watching mate
Great video
i went up curbar edge in the morning and was simply a sheet of polished glass , well done for doing these videos really really enjoy thank you so much
Great video again Dan 👏👍
Good on you Dan. You had your doubts about the tent but it got the job done. 👍🏻
I don't think I will use the tent in wind again mate
been out on a day camp today , come home watch your video and want to go back out again lol .cannot beat wild camping 🤙👍
Try packing snow around your tent at the bottom all around that should make it warmer. N Joy mate
great video and what a night to do a camp during 30mph winds but what great vlog .
Great video, I’m snow jealous!
🤣🤣🤣 its snowing bad here now
Stew looked amazing,
Or mate it was amazing
Thank you for the entertainment. Great channel and English too! Great skills there. Would love to have some of your camping skills. Maybe you should set up a weekend where some of your subscribers can join you camping and you could teach others your camping skills. I would certainly pay for a weekend camping with you but maybe in the summer 🤣 thank you again
Very entertaining and knowledgeable video.
One of the things I would have down is pack snow around the footings as this would have kept some of the breeze out, not all but some.
Love a bit of venison, just a little seasoning and the flavour comes out.
Beef stew looked mouth watering.
I was out on a solo in my Phoxx 2 and Fathom EV 200 when Arwen hit Suffolk. Held up really well, stayed pretty warm.
Bush Pro Tarp was frozen to the tent by morning 🤣
You're making me hungry, good video.
Brilliant mate
Thankyou mate
It is perfect for that stove
That's was most enjoyable. We've had some extremely windy camps recently in Snowdonia. Thought the tent was going to take off. 😳 That looks a good stove and loving the boiling water on tap.
Have to give you credit for sticking it out in that tent and in that weather !
Nice tent! Great video👍
Cooked up the whole farm on this video
My intial thought was 'mad ass' lol. Then you cooked your stew and my thought changed. With the wood burning stove you looked cosy, did wonder about the condensation.
Thankyou for braving the elements x
Fun video too watch this - good job
Glad you enjoyed this video mate
haha, just about to go out and this pops up. been looking forward to this one.
Sorry to stop you going out mate 👍
Excellent video Dan really enjoyed it keep them coming as long as it's safe to do so mate 👍 ⛺

Hi HM thankyou for watching
Top man that’s dedicated going out in that weather, brilliant video again mate the food looked great again 👍
Absolutely mental I laughed so much your brill pal straight as a die. I looked at that tent but think my tipi is better in the wind. I think you said the same . So fair play ma man get in 👍👍👍👍

cracking video as always in harsh winter conditions 👍👍👍
Great video
Watched it all way threw
👍👍👍👍👍
That stew needed some dumplings in it.....best chilly weather food ever!
Definitely looked a bit precarious with that strong wind ,and the cold ..good on you for your perseverance, most would have given up .
What a better food to have is a tasty stew on a cold night 😋
Wow it is wildly good show thanks
It was a bad night mate
Amazing....ini camping dengan suasana yang ekstrim...

Well the Baker tent definitely held up well in the wind I'm looking forward to using mine when it arrives nice one Dan atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Mate please don't use it in wind
you warrior!!!
They do good in the wind. If mine is put up correctly it doesn’t have to much of a draft. Great video.
Then boots were a bargain great vid
I have a Winnerwell stove and a water heater you need to turn it so the value is facing the back of your stove, I also use fire logs I just light the paper and when lit add my wood. N Joy mate
Dan you never seize to make me laugh pal love the socks just wear them on Sundays!!Holey socks!!!!The tent could be doing with a couple pegging points on the sides in the middle to be honest. All the best 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🏴🏴🏴
Hello English Woodsman, I've seen many of your videos but never commented, just want to say, I really enjoyed this video, think you are very brave, glad you had a stove and supplies...cheers and hope you got warmed through afterwards
