That "Get the hell away from her, Ed!" Implies that Jason can talk, but he just chooses not to. It also implies that Jason is actually still smart as a human being, and he's not just a big brain-dead zombie like he may seem.
He was a normal boy once so there's no reason why he shouldn't be able to talk. Since his mother probably homeschooled him it's safe to assume he can also read and has the most basic understanding of math. He knows his ABCs and 123s he's just never been in a situation as an adult where he's had to communicate because you don't need to talk just to kill people.

I’m still confused on many decisions made for this film and I don’t know if I should be more annoyed with Adam or Sean, Sean has shown his jerk side in recent years so probably him more but Adam may be a good guy but he’s way too full of himself too! “My films different so it’s good” so was Jason X and everyone hates that film. I love it however, Jason in space! It gave what it promised and it’s a super fun time
@@q.h.s5051 I think Marcus was mocking the complaints that the story was nonsensical rather than being overcomplicated - essentially "Why is Jason being a deadite who possesses people beyond the pale, but it's fine for him to be a deformed mutant who became a zombie after being struck by lightning, then fought a psychic and was defeated by the New York City sewer system?"
The film _is_ hard to follow, but a lot of that is down to inexperience rather than being too clever. An experienced writer/director could have salvaged the film from being overlong and subsequently being hacked up in the editing bay, but Adam Marcus probably just hadn't developed the skills to fix the holes left behind when it had to be trimmed. The real problem lies with New Line not recognizing that the movie was turning into a tangled mess and needed serious reworking to be coherent - at very least, they should have asked for a second draft of the script that ended in a 2 hour original cut.

I met his daughter a few years ago and she was telling me all about her dad and how she got to meet many celebrities over her childhood (she dropped some awesome A list names) and then she mentioned Robert Englund and I mentioned I was a huge fan. Long story short, she met up with him over the next few weeks and came back to me with an autograph from Robert Englund and I’m forever in her debt ♥️

These recounts have made every Friday morning so much better. I'm going to be sad when it's over, but hopefully they revisit some other classic slashers.

The third one made more sense and that movie was made mostly for the 3D effects. This film could have been great if it was more coherent The idea around the knife could have been good if they explained it properly in the film. Jason should have been utilised more because his appearance was cool. Also why would the heart cause a person to eat it? There was no explanation for it. It would have made more sense for Jason to just process him like a ghost. Also why would Jason shave some guy's back and then kill him? Such a weird and creepy scene which made no sense considering Jason is not into that kind of stuff. He is basically childlike because he never had a childhood. I like all the films including Part 5 but this film rubbed me the wrong way. Burns had a blue mask which indicated a different person. Roy and Jarvis were basically a legacy of Jason as one survived him and one became him to sought vengeance. This film basically featured some spitir taking people over and nothing to do with the real Jason who got gunned down by the FBI, which was the best scene. You could even argue that the spirit was not Jason as the director tied this into Evil Dead as he had the Necronomicon on a table in one of the scenes.
Almost every Friday film has been a straight forward slasher. The only one that truly makes no sense is Part 8. Excuses excuses

People possessed by Jason is likely unable to feel pain(like Jason was, seeing how HE only grunts when shot at by a whole circus), and it's possible that Jason, being intelligent enough while possessed, can probably fake some minor pain such as being slashed, but can't replicate the genuine reaction to some more major agony like breaking fingers, making it a good way of telling someone is possessed by Jason or not
Connecting the timeline here isn't too hard if we make a few assumptions about how things played out.
If we roll with the idea that Pamela Voorhees is Diana's mother, we can assume she was born shortly before the first movie happened. That movie ends, Alice says "he's still out there," and the cops search the woods and find a crying baby left behind in the Voorhees house. She's adopted off and years go by.
Some people might say that makes her too young to be a grandmother in this, but consider: Every Friday moving starting with New Blood is set in the future. That movie starts in the present when Tina was a little girl, then jumps ahead several years to start the plot. That would mean Diana would be in her mid to late 30s in this movie, which isn't that much different from her actress' age at the time of filming.
Then we have Jason inexplicably not being a shitty wet child, but that isn't too hard to figure out, either. The radioactive shit water might have made him a child again for a little while, but he probably just grew back to adulthood quickly because it's radioactive shit water. It even explains why his skin grew over his mask now, since he's radioactive and that's not good. At the end of this movie, he does, indeed, go to Hell, at least until Freddy wakes him back up in their movie (Deadite magic probably made him a new body). Since Jason beats Freddy and keeps on living, that means he can still be alive for David Cronenberg and the gang to kidnap him in Jason X, at which point he's frozen and sent to the future.

It's a shame that he directed this so young, he seems like a fun smart guy and if he was able to direct a Friday film 5 years later I'm sure it would've been incredible, inclusive, stylised, and most importantly, coherent
The saddest part is that this film could have one of the best. The FBI scene should have been in the middle of the film then he could try and possess people which then results him actually going to hell at the end. We could then see him trying to escape. That could lead to the sequel of him gaining new abilities and actually getting the pitchfolk like Savini Jason from the game. The 90s sadly only had one film.

The "coherent" part... definitely the biggest issue with this movie! I always *think* I like this movie, because there are so many individual scenes in it that I like... but then when I sit down and try to watch it, it's just a mess.
And it had very good characters, the only part I didn't like was not seeing jason in action most of the movie

My personal idea (partially drawn from some things I heard were either cut ideas or from spinoffs) would be the government trying to kill Jason and having to bring in his many foes to put him down - imagine Tommy Jarvis, Tina lastnameIcan'trememberfrompart7, and Creighton Duke becoming an elite anti-Jason task force, perhaps bringing in the lore from this movie so we could get Jessica and the magic Voorhees dagger too. It wouldn't have been possible since they couldn't get the rights to Tommy (couldn't even get the rights to the damn name of the series!), but it would have been a way cooler movie if it could have happened.

As weird as making Jason a deadite was, the lore did play a huge part in Freddy vs Jason vs Ash which is a really damn fun comic, so I don't mind the strange retcon

Jason as a deadite actually works pretty well. Ruthless bulldozer like killing machine that favors over-the-top murders with improvised weapons. Plus only massive bodily damage can put him down even then its only temporary. You have to replace spells from the Necronomican with pre-marital sex in the woods though. However, that could be cribbed with Pamela incorporating that into Jason's deadite-fication on purpose.
It actually turns the first 7ish films into something like a coherent timeline. "New Beginning" was Jason incompletely manifesting in the paramedic killer. It also explains if clumsily why Tommy Jarvis had a premonition of how he and a meatbag friend inadvertently restored Jason's original deadite form.

It occurs to me that it’s perfectly viable, and possibly a really cool idea to create a mcu-like universe for horror villains. I’m not talking combined movies like the Freddy v Jason thing, but having little things like the necronomicon being the basis for some of the weird shit that happens, or a cabin in the woods organisation explaining how stuff moves around and stuff isn’t investigated. Just a reference here, a book there, and a man in black to set things in motion would be all it would need.

You’d be surprised at the delicious food combinations used for some of the nastiest effects. I believe James even mentioned in the Zombieland kill counts that the vomit and mouth blood in those flicks were made with banana pudding/granola and chocolate syrup/coffee. In the Sixth Sense, Mischa Barton’s ghost “vomited” a sweet oatmeal that she said tasted pretty good.

Duke’s “death” would have only caused him to be a paraplegic at about the T6 level resulting in poor, or no trunk control and leg function. He for sure would have pooped or peed himself. He could have passed out from the trauma alone; a vasovagal response triggered by pain and stress.
I like that this is all very technical and cool and definitely something I have no knowledge of, but also you said "pooped and peed" so I must laugh.
If there's 1 thing that I can appreciate about movies & t.v. is that they never get that detail (people peeing & pooping themselves at some truly terrible times-especially after death) right. 'cause it would suck to see.

honestly i love marcus’s ambitions with this movie, even if the movie as a whole is a mess. the ideas he makes work are great and even if his more out there ideas were too convoluted, it’s so charming and relatable to have those kind of “headcanon” ideas as if he was just a fan like the rest of us
I honestly like a lot of the pieces of lore this movie added: the fact that Jason is inherently a supernatural being, the fact that Pamela Vorheez had other children, the solidification as Elias existing in this canon, Duke, and even that Jason can talk, simply choosing not to most of the time.
Honestly, the way I make sense of the usually mute Jason with this movie is that he knows how to talk, but after he became zombie Jason, his body physically couldn't talk anymore.

I liked the opening to JTGH since the first time I watched it. It brought a spark of realism to the lore that really intrigued me on how they were gonna up the anty. The possession and body swapping made sense to me. I would like to see more horror monsters confronted with real life scenarios.

I'm probably wrong about this, but I'd heard that the plan was to make Jason either a Deadite or at least Deadite adjacent. Because Freddy vs Jason was supposed to be Freddy vs Jason vs Evil Dead and it was supposed to be a three way fight between Jason, Freddy, and Ash. Or maybe that was what they were planning to do with the sequel that never happened.
This had so much potential that got squandered away!
The end when Freddy's Hand comes up from the dirt from hell was beyond epic Unfortunately nothing came after that until a decade or so later
Its werid becaues Jason X released after this but if you look into it it makes more sence that Freddy Vs Jason came first in the timeline then Jason X they should have made Freddy Vs Jason first

Honestly I think Jason Goes To Hell is my favorite Friday film, it's got problems but the effects and cast make up for it ten fold. I also really like Adam Marcus as a person

I do love how much Adam Marcus' love for horror movies shines in this film. The references to horror legends (characters named after John Landis, Robert Englund, Lewis Abernathy, and Bruce Campbell); "Cunningham County" badges on the cops paying homage to Sean; effects reminiscent of Cronenberg and David Lynch films; Easter Eggs of the Necronomicon and Evil Dead dagger, crate from Creepshow, and the actual jungle gym from the set of The Birds; Creighton Duke's line ("For that, you get the mask, the machete, the whole damn thing") that paraphrases Quint's line from Jaws. Probably even more I haven't picked up on.
The return of “BUSINESS!” James always makes me happy

My favorite part of this movie (aside from the tent kill that I saw when I watched it for the very first time renting it on VHS) was the fact that during the opening chase scene, you can clearly see that the actress is wearing combat boots as she runs through the woods at one point.
Yeah also her stopping and waiting for Jason it catch up to spring the trap was a nice touch too.
Rusty Schwimmer came to my highschool to talk to our theatre classes. She was one of the funniest and most honest people ever, a real great person.
