So inspiring. I saw an etheric being momentarily and unexpectedly in 1989 while digging in my suburban garden in Highgate Hill, Brisbane, Australia. He was an old guy about 45 cm tall.
We made eye contact, he seemed shocked that I could see him, then immediately pixalated and disappeared. The whole eperience lasted only 2 or 3 seconds.
He looked like the gnome statues in people's gardens but with muted colours. It is a treasured memory. That was the only such sighting, though come to think about it, I did have an "Imaginary" friend as a little boy who was my age and size.

I love the fact that so many Icelanders are humble enough to admit that they simply "don't know" whether or not the Huldufolk exist. I pray that I may never claim to "know" anything that in fact I do not know, though I do "know" that I fail at this all of the time.

I'm Icelandic and have been hearing them since I was a child, despite trying my best to ignore the messages and convince myself that I was probably bonkers. Turns out that I'm not, I can connect with them on a spiritual level near their homes. They are very much real, just out of our field of sight (like most of the universe)

We also have stories about elves and hidden people here in my country Philippines. The hidden people are what we call engkantos and elves duwendes. In Latin America and Spain, they call them encantos. Like their Icelandic counterparts, engkantos look like just humans except that they don't have a philtrum. The only difference between huldufolk and engkantos is that engkantos are said to have kidnapped some people whom they had favored or fallen in love with. Those people were reported missing in the human world and they were never found for years or decades until they suddenly showed up back home. Our old folks have told us those people returned to their home and hadn't aged a bit after the many years they went missing. This kind of incident is even shown in the American tv series "True Blood" where one of the protagonists Sookie was lured by her fairy godmother into the fairy world. With that, I can safely say that the hidden people or engkantos aren't only endemic to Iceland or Philippines, but they are also known to other cultures with different names.

I have heard stories of people in India going to meet up with these little people and showing up years later.
Also, in the Latin country I live in I have had an experience with 'duendes' . My friend was working on a flute and I came over ,and I watched him put the fluteit to his side when I passed him a pipe. Then the flute was gone. And he told me a duende was around and he had seen it a couple days ago jumping around the wood pile. And he looked everywhere for the flute. And I remembered, I think it was from a grandmas story that they liked candy. Finally I took out my prized fresa candy and I held it up and said, " I'll give you this candy if you give back the flute. " and then I put it under the wooden deck of his shacky house and then he looked at the back , totally opposite of the deck where he was sitting and the flute was there. This story is skipping the part where I put some old M&M type candy under the deck. And when I looked back I saw the wrapper move! And the candy was gone. Also I had a baseball cap and it got " sucked " down a small space of the deck where a piece of wood was missing. He was looking for the f-ing flute for more than half an hour. So what the grandmas said is true they like to steal things and they like candy. Confirmed*!

In Indonesia same! We called them Peri which mean Fae, fairy People and elves. We have variant of them. Mostly look like dwarves, hobbit creatures and a misterius wizard People, Maia.

here in canada there was this small wood near my home. every tree looked plain and simple and didnt stood out, except one and i dont khow why, but my gaze was always drawn to that 1 tree it was weird. as if that tree was special somehow standing out amongst all of them.
i sat on a rock nearby and i was listening to my ipod when i felt like somone was starring at me i looked at the tree by instinct and i saw somone sitting on a branch. i tought it was a kid that had climbed the tree (no big deal) i blinked and the person was gone. i tought the kid fell off the fucking tree, when i ran to see if he was ok i didnt find anybody... nobody was there.

Yes, me too. Jin are shape shifters Who turnout to be weird cretures. We Just called them different names due to different shapes. Like elves, dwarves bla bla bla.. so it would easier to describe them. For ex. I dont wanna mess up with elves because they are too tricky in forest, i dont wanna mess up with dwarves they are toooo Loud.

Perhaps Icelandic elves or Hidden People opened the recent Fagradalsfjall volcano to release the enormous pressure that would
otherwise have caused more damage. Maybe they made sure that the outbreak takes place in a closed valley that is easy to observe, and in an uninhabited area where no one can be harmed. ;-)
