Lake Tyers Planned Burn

CFA’s only all-Indigenous fire brigade - Bunjil supported one of the largest CFA planned and led forest burns on the Lake Tyers Aboriginal Trust last week.
Site preparation for the burn was critical and Bunjil members used their local knowledge to ensure cultural assets like scarred trees were protected and wrapped ahead of the burn.
The incredibly expansive fuel reduction burn helped reduce the bushfire risk for the Lake Tyers community, which sits on a site that is 80% forest.
