Eastern seaboard had Wet forests and the trees rise to 100 metres and more the tellest flowering plant in the world blue mountains is a good example that how NSW and VIC once looked like. And there states had the most land clearing in 250yrs where the northern and western Australia have complete different environment it's is a wet dry tropics Of The top and It's is a torrid land hot all year and there there is the wet and dry season which have monsoons rains and the dry that turns the region into semi-desent . wildfires in Australia have always been large. Before white man came and cut down bush and forest...a small fire started in Queensland by a lighting strike or by aboriginal means would have traveled the whole east coast and along the great dividing range to Victoria. I do not believe traditional Indigenous fires where ever used to control wild fires (only to capture food). This is a myth. Outside grassed areas, Aboriginal people would not have been able to control fires if got out of control. So in a way, fires made by aboriginal people may have a caused wild fires. This was a secondary benefit (accident).

Most fires lit by aboriginal people were in grass lands, (not thick bush as research shows) they only started fires to bring kangaroos in to feed off new growth)... and with with this fact, any out of control fire is just that and like many ancient wild fires in the last 60 million years burnt until the run out of fuel.
