The Windows 10 boot process is quite simple. When your computer starts, the BIOS or UEFI Firmware is loaded, which performs a small set of checks on your hardware called the Power On Self Test (POST.) The BIOS then scans the hard disk master boot record, which loads an important file into main memory called WINLOAD.EXE. This kicks off the start-up process by loading the NTOSKRNL.EXE (NT Kernel, the heart of Windows) and HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer.) Windows 10 then performs tasks such as initializing your hardware like your mouse and keyboard and reading the Windows Registry and user profile.
If you see a black screen with gray text that reads “Windows Boot Manager” with an error along the lines of “Status: 0xc0000605 Info: A component of the operating system has expired,” then it means something went wrong with WINLOAD.EXE.

My error message says, “you need to sign in as an administrator to continue, but there aren’t any administrator accounts on this PC.”
So basically *not* a 'fix' more a case of "windows updates screw up your computer so follow the instructions on your computer to restore it back to how it was".
I figured that one out for myself. Now to stop updates being installed.
when I did this my computer completely turned off and turned on again showing a massage that says that I've run in to and error and that it will restart but every time I restart it says the same thing

I tried to get into auto repair and I got into Dell SupportAssist instead. It began diagnosing and fixing my PC. After it was finished It concluded there was no hardware issues. Then auto repair booted up.
Windows is way too complicated.

I had the same problem. I also ended up at "Startup repair couldn't repair your PC". I clicked "Advanced Options" and choose "Startup Settings". You then get 9 options. I choose option 5 (Safe mode with networking). My computer started into safe mode. I then shutdown the computer and started again. Now it works normal again.

Boot to a windows 10 installation CD or usb. Select your language and then next and then repair your computer
Have this issue right now, it wont repair for same reason. Only thing i could do is restore to previous version. Restore finalized but when it restarted all I get is a black screen. Seems like my issue went from bad to worse.

Thank you, this worked for me. My PC is less than 2 years old and it JUST started doing this last week where it would boot indefinitely. Then it was perfectly fine for a few days, then it started doing this again, this time not wanting to boot at all. I have an SSD and it's lightning fast. Any idea what's causing this? The only thing that has changed are Windows updates, which I suspect is the reason.
Have you figured it out? You literally just described my situation. My gaming laptop is 2 years d and super fast up until about a week and half ago it now takes like 10 minutes to boot up and sometimes wont at all and just stays on the startup screen. Ive tried so many things and it's just getting worse. Went from 15 seconds to 15 minutes to get into my windows. Im so freaked out and it's stressing me out so bad.
@@CantTreadOnMe I wish I knew but I don't. It hasn't happened to me for nearly 2 weeks by by coincidence it happened today. After waiting 5 minutes I pressed and held the power button, waited for the computer to turn off, pressed it again, and booted up lightning fast like normal. When this does happen usually I'm not so lucky to have it boot properly the second time around, I usually need to try other troubleshooting steps. I have no idea why this is happening, especially when it's only intermittent. I asked my IT professor and he's not sure either. I'm assuming it's a bug deep within Windows that seems to affect only certain PCs. The very first time this happened was on February 14 after installing an update. I've installed post-updates to the Feb. 14 one but those don't seem to affect the frequency of booting problems. I have an AMD processor but I don't think the issue affects only this processor manufacturer. I've tried multiple virus/malware scans and nothing bad is detected.
My best advice is REGULARLY BACKUP YOUR DATA either to a cloud service or an external harddrive like a 256 gb flash drive with anything you want to keep such as pictures. and documents.

I had considerable trouble as a newbie with a small desktop. In order to alleviate the problems, I learned a little through trial and error, and I bought a big computer ($1400 for a big, second-hand gaming desktop that weighs at least forty lbs), and found a good, cheap, honest tech. I felt profound loss when he went out of biz, but by then I had learned enough to overcome most problems. Took abut 5 years and I spent over $4000 total during that time, including 2 new graphics cards (get at least a 1080 ti triple-fan for 4k gaming bc a 970 will overheat when worked hard), 2 solid state hard drives (found out I didn't really need a samsung 512 gb), 28" 4K monitor and a few other peripherals, plus repair and new hardware installation expenses. It takes time, practice and money to get and maintain a great rig, but you DO become better and you end up with a great pc.

@@MDTechVideos I have no problem due to those things I mentioned; namely LEARN THE BASICS ABOUT PCs AND GET A GOOD ONE. Most people are quite willing to drop a bundle on their phone bc it's something they really, REALLY need, but they think that $4k is a ridiculous amount to spend on something that will last for a number of years. High-performance cars need maintenance and tune-ups, and so do gaming PCs.
That is honestly a lot of money that people don't need or would be better invested. Most people would be shocked I use a 6 year old desktop for all of these tutorials (over 3,000+) and it works fine.
@@MDTechVideos I'm old and could afford to do it, though it was still a pretty good sting (and I didn't spend all the money at once or I might not have bought the thing). I know it seems like a bundle, but a similar rig built by a professional gaming pc company would cost about twice as much; plus if it quits working or just gets screwy, you gotta send it back to THEM; meaning NOBODY is allowed to open the case or it voids the warranty.

Check the Fast Boot option in windows. If the box is checked, remove the checkmark and restart your computer. It worked for me when i was getting a black screen after the windows logo appears. Hopefully it will work for you.
Sky Kitchen can you do this while in safe mode? I can still reach all the options like command prompt and auto repair stuff on the blue screen but nothing has worked even rest failed at 9%

I have has this computer for 1 year. About 5 times I have had to reload windows 4 to 5 times. I am on my 5 or 6 times now and it's doing it again. Why? Dell is a joke they wont help now because I am out of warranty and I cant figure it out. Someone told me they think it's the harddrive is not storing windows. I use to leave it turned on but I turn it off now when not in use. I had it off for a week or little longer and this happens when I turned it back on.

I did everything and the startup repair took literally 653 hours for part 1 and an additional 20 hours on part two. then finally it says it couldn't repair your pc. then I tried the same thing again, this time nothing too, then I tried reinstalling windows from the USB stick on ALL available ports, still did not work. now it has entered a loop and nothing at all. pls help.

Hey man! So I have this exact same issue and I ended up just restoring to a previous thing a couple days ago.
However when I try to restart my computer it does the same thing again. It's like it just won't let me turn it off idk what is up. I've had to restore it twice now in one day.
My keyboard backlight won't work but I know I can just delete apk and then reinstall it. I did this before this all happened and it was fine. But now since I can't restart it. It won't uninstall the apk it just goes back to that restarting thing.

If I click "exit and continue to windows 10" my pc automatically rstarts and show up the motherbrand with the "preparing automatic repair" after that it will go back to the choose options page.

When you see that blue screen then your computer is done for there is not much you can do except send it in to be fixed. If you do divide to have the PC fixed that will be pricey. If your getting it fixed send it to the company that you bought it from NOT THE STORE YOU BOUGHT IT FROM but THE COMPANY THAT MADE THE PC! But other than that your pc is screwed

You are going to need to buy a new monitor or replace it with a different one and see if that is the root of the problem.
