Recording the very first heartbeat of a new life

- If I recorded every second inside an egg, from yolk till hatching, would it be possible to film the very first heartbeat? During this project I learned that a heartbeat starts even before the heart organ is present and earlier than the naked eye can see, but I ended up shooting the most intriguing footage of the full embryo development inside a little dove egg.

you were one of my inspirations to rescue and foster the little feral kitten that showed up near my block. The little guy is now socialized and found a home. Your work extends beyond the animals you help!
Because of you, my wife and I realized what we had and what we could do. We started watching you and your passion for life years ago. There were no Quail here for years and years,we started to manage every part of our little farm and the time for mowing for hay around all the wildlife we have. We now have coveys of 20 to 30 Quail now that fly back and forth to our rancher neighbors property. We have a deer we rescued from being stuck on a fence as a yearling..she comes to see us when we walk back to the back part of our farm. Spring,summer and fall we have our Box Turtle,snake and whatever else we find in the road and stop and move them. Other people are now doing the same and we always get a thumbs up when someone drives by as we move an animal off the road. It’s our respect and love of life, and all the other people that share our love.

@@katynosework There are a lot of people like us out there,never loose hope. When someone does just one compassionate act it gathers its own momentum. Especially when a person you consider real hard nose comes up and tells you they wish more people were like us and they like what you do and are doing.
Then you know they are finding compassion themselves,the ultimate gift.

it is SO incredibly difficult to feed and crop burp small birds like that from birth, especially finches. Good job on that dove, as always!
THIS. seriously. i once raised a white-winged dove chick, and it was more stressful than bottlefeeding kittens or rabbits for sure. huge props to anyone who can successfully do this.

Amazing! My mother is a professor of biology and ecology and I grew up studying all kinds of things in our home. To spend the afternoon with my microscope and cup of pond water to find all the different single and multi celled organisms in it was not unusual. To see the heartbeat of the first cells actually beating is amazing to me. It's something that I previously thought could only be done in a university laboratory. If I could have done this at home, I would have. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us all!

My parakeet laid 7 eggs and seeing the tiniest heartbeats in all the eggs the size of a dime just melted my heart. All baby hatched but only 1 didn't make it. It's an amazing thing to watch growth and see little life through a flashlight

man when i was around 8 you inspired me so much my family got chickens and wanted to get a quail. i would watch your videos with my dad all the time and spend so much time with him and i randomly remembered this channel and you have created so many good memories. i lost my dad around a year ago and this feels really nice to watch this again and go through my nostalgia. thank you so much for giving me and my family so much joy and laughter and inspiration, i know you don’t know me but you made me so happy when i was a young. so thank you ❤
