Thanks so much man. I was stuck in the trees with a 21.5 foor deck boat and no trolling motor. Stumps were all around, and the wind was picking up quick as a storm was moving in. I guess I raised it to high and it was stuck in the up position. Even with me hanging off the lower unit, it would not come down. We threw anchor immediately. My daughter Miranda found this video. So credit to her. And thanks again. We were in a bind.

This saved me too. Boat and motor that had not been moved in 20 years. No way to get boat out of driveway because skeg would drag. When I turned the screw which was pretty tight I could hear the pressure release. Many thanks!!!

Thank you for doing this Friend! We went to the lake yesterday, got the motor down and it wouldn't come up! You really saved our butts yesterday! We didn't know what to do, we were about to take the chance and drive it home with the engine hoving 2 inches above the concrete! I took a chance someone on you tube made a video! Thank you so much! You saved our motor!

Saved my day! I floated off the river but thought I needed some repairs on the power tilt. Not sure what happened but it got stuck in the highest position and I couldn't get it to budge, had power and fluid and everything but I didn't know about that manual release and I could find it on the water. I've got a screw driver in the boat now! Thank you!

Very helpful indeed!!! I just acquired a 225 VRO as a project. I was trying to get the trim/tilt to work. I could only get the trim/ tilt motor to run but nothing moved. Lots of fluid etc., and everything in really good condition cosmetically so it wasn't obvious what the problem was. This video pointed me to the manual release and it was backed open a turn or two, so the fluid was bypassing. Tightened the screw and all works like new. The previous owner must have had it open for some reason. It's the first motor I have owned with power trim/tilt so I was in the dark to begin with. LOL...

    • @ReelTeaseFishing

The engine has some zirk fittings to grease the pivoting shaft. It’s most likely seized due to lack of grease. I’d try that. Also that manual release should, with a big enough flat head unscrew. It just takes a half turn. Good luck
