Motor stuck in down position (Merc 115 Optimax) did hit the ramp coming out, but not bad. Got the boat home ... motor runs but will not tilt, suspect no/low fluid level. Cannot access the fill port and need to tilt motor up ... going to try this ..... Thx.

Found the screw valve, motor went down further but to heavy for me to lift. I'm in a bind ...

tried this with mine and i couldnt. felt like theres still pressure in it, but no oil came out. so im hoping the assemblty or something didnt break inside.

It's not a "hack." It's a standard function on every factory hydraulic trim and tilt. Fyi, the parking brake on your tow vehicle is not an anti-roll down the hill "hack." Just sayin'. As an aside, if your skeg hits the ground while on thr trailer either the motor is mounted too low (you can google proper set height) or the trailer is setup wrong. Close is fine, but if your transom saver or other prop device fails going down the road you don't want to be able to drop anchor and plow a furrow thereby destroying your lower unit.
