I think it's important to inform people of the reality, but I feel that many people are stereotyping Japan in a bad way because they have seen too many such videos on social media recently. For example, there are people who have ridiculous prejudices, like all Japanese are isolated and have no lovers, so they rent lovers and work +16 hours a day, and all women are prostitutes and all men are p3d0.

I've lived in Japan for 30+ years, and I'd say that Meshida-San's comedy dives deeper than many comedians and journalists to find insights or small pearls of truth about Japanese culture. Plus, one of the comedy books on his shelf is Monty Python's Flying Circus. Say no more! Nudge nudge!

Wow, great rapid-fire explanation of so many subcultures! The exploration of love marriage versus arranged marriage is interesting. I've heard many times, from friends who have married successfully and unsuccessfully, that love is in fact temporary, and maintaining a marriage has to go far beyond that initial passion.

The ony thing which suprised me the most about Japan is your hook up culture. I'm not someone who sleeps around at all, but I was quite shocked from certain stories and experiences. I never fell for the 'EVERYONE is shy' stereotype but I wouldn't have imagined like I said some of the things I read or heard from people. It kinda makes sense that If you got a culture where showing affection towards one another is more, Idk how to put it, 'structured' with rules and unspoke laws, that certain feelings just 'boil ower' in other ways. BDSM, infidelity and sleeping with certain types of people in order to check a point on the bucket list. It's just wild 😂 But still, very interesting people and country in general !

As a western Foreigner who's lived and worked with Japanese I can *confirm in a sense that 'confirm' means I am confirming Japanese are all into wacky subculture secret-society, insider, complex or wtf relationship stuff that we can can only 'apprehend' but will never be able to 'comprehend'. Please believe Comedian Meshida. I say this as a rare foreigner who happens to fit, gel and integrate into their world better than most (but I'm considered strange in my home country) and most of the time I metaphorically 'Tap Out' as soon as I can sense they're doing some 'japanesing culture stuff'. Personally, my brain cannot take it anyway, I just let them carry on.

I must be one of the few Westerners who's never visited Japan because my impression of the country is that it is under so much psycho-social stress that nearly everyone is unhappy all the time. Of course, plenty of Western nations are also very dysfunctional - the USA being Number One in this regard - but it seems as if Japan experiences the worst of every possible permutation. Although you try to present your stories somewhat tongue-in-cheek, the underlying messages are frequently heartbreaking.

My main take away is, the few that manage to get married and have the ability to speak english know to leave Japan to have children. Because the current societal climate favours elderly care over support for struggling parents.
Those left over who can't see a future outside the country. Just kinda give up and not bother and just muddle through. Because its currently too difficult to survive single let alone feeding the mouths of two and extra on the way.

I can see why omiai marriages have lower divorce rates than love marriages. It is probably easier to open up to the other person during the dating process. You know the other person is serious about marriage and is a decent person. In Gokon, everyone has to put on their tatemae, and some may only be attending the group date to support their friend.

Hosugurui is kind of amazing, isn't it? Women that love men so much(Hosts who literally couldn't care less about them) that they go into prostitution for their sake...In our society in the West is such a thing even possible? (with feminism, independent women, etc) Most of the time something desperate like that would be reserved for family only, I think, like an emergency crisis like a family member needs a heart transplant! Not just for some random hot guy! Hell, in the case of Itadaki-joshi Riri-Chan the girl in question is extremely cute! Why do they need to simp for dudes!? It's usually the reverse abroad! 🤣
That being said, I'm a lonely, ugly and short guy, I can't honestly say I wouldn't blow all my money on a girl if I thought she was interested even if it was just a monetary transaction and an act...I guess in the end we're all just really lonely. 😅

    • @mikiohirata9627
      @mikiohirata9627 Před 8 měsíci +1

Hosgurui is possible in Japan because for centuries Japan allowed men to visit
brothels /tea houses then change of back ground from feudal to modern
except men going to establishments for female company which is accepted as
default. It doesn't matter if these mean are single or married.
Then women's liberation (at least in idea) became fashionable so WHY NOT
suddenly light came on for women to start visiting Host clubs just as men have
      been doing for centuries.
Japanese don't practice religions like in Christian/Muslim rules of chastity so
it's inevitable that it would lead to such destructive behavior.

I think this arranged wedding thing is more and more accurate, it may seem vile to do but both will at least try hard in favor of their families. Unlike the bs going on in the western world where women think they can do whatever they want.

Meshida-san, I want to stay in Japan for a month. How is the healthcare/mental health system in your country? I'm hoping that I could afford healthcare in Japan, if I go.

You won't be accepted into national healthcare system since you wouldn't be
a resident with just a month visiting. And coverage for mental care is not very
good compare to some western nations.

🤣🤣🤣 Japanese women should try to marry a famous or Celebrity person if want to have easy viability. 🤣🤣🤣
Famous or Celebrity people don't even care about Low-class, only care and married their own class (Royal or High)

What a sad video. Japanese people need to make peace with God. They need Jesus Christ.
