well the cam requires the heads to have screw in studs so the valvetrain can be adjusted; It also had single groove stainless valves installed and dual springs to control them to 7200rpm. It has hooker longtube headers (open in the video) with 3" collectors. Up top is a torker intake and fast ezefi. Bottom end was a bone stock rotating assembly aside from the cam, good timing set and restrictors in the oil passages with factory flat tops running 9.8:1 static compression.
This engine came with 4v open chamber heads, I came across some 4v Closed chamber heads to up the compression for $400, had the pedastles milled for an adjustable valve train for another $300, got this solid flat tappet cam $250, Crower coolface lifters $125, I scored my comp roller tip rockers for $10 locally but they're typically $200. The rotating assembly is bone stock but I went through it and checked everything out and installed a oil restrictor kit. Intake is a Torker single plane and headers are Hooker longtubes. I scored the short block for $750 and got the intake for free from my dad. so total is around $2000 after other odds and ends like gaskets timing set etc. The efi system was a few bucks but it made just as much power with a tuned holley 750double pumper I rebuilt (already had that). A proper timing curve also makes a huge difference.

@@troyberg65 yes the FE engines are some of the strongest engine you'll find in pulling power
I have dropped so many privates for leaving a creeper laying on the ground like that! I may have let this one go though just to listen to this all day long.
Appreciation for the leniency, I was in the midst of fitting the exhaust together; among other things.
My cousin has one of those in her garage....sounds similar. Sucks gas, hauls ass (tm). Maybe Bond drove it....could increase the value, eh? Sounds great!
I’m building a ‘27 Model T Roadster pickup street rod. I put a 351 Cleveland and a C4 automatic in it. Can’t wait to hear that engine.
Updates? Buddy has a 31 model A tubbed. Was an ambulance. Tunnel rammed AFR head (I ported it and the tram), HFT cam. Unreal acceleration its downright scary. You can blip the throttle in any parking lot and bounce the front end off tfhe ground. THose are so light!
YAAAASSS! She sounds PISSED!👍
Those were the best 351 , the Windsor were low compression under performance motors
Memories of my 1973 Mach 1
Love 351 Cleveland's
Sounds like it needs a tune up? Did you forget to put oil in it?
Awsome, 351c, best engine in world
Sorry the 351 Windsor is a much better engine.
@@darrellpalmer6461 I don't agree. The deck is to talk and wide. The clevo,s win races
Valve cover square corners? Looks like a Windsor?
Soooo Nice !
What a weapon! 🤘🤘👍👍
Badass ride
My 73 Mach 1 was awesome
Music 2 my ears!
No better sound than a 351C on song
Sounds bad ass
Just finished the 3 inch exhaust on my 68 with a moderately built Cleveland. I apologized to my neighbors in advance….
Mine sounds close :) love the way the ole clevland talks
Absolutely! beautiful cobra btw!
@@troyberg65 Ty sir the Cleveland pulls it along no sweat! And the Mach you have there is one heck of example of good ole American Iron! Is it a street driven or more track focused?
@@culbycars I drive it whenever I want to cruise; it would probably not be considered street friendly to most (3800 stall and a detroit locker with 4:10 gears) but I like it on the street. I do attend every Friday fun night that I can with it too! It's here for me to have fun with as I see fit and it does that very well!
@@troyberg65 thats the best kind of car to have!!! I used to have a 86 chevette i built had a 434sbc in it was back halved and my friends thought i was crazy for using it as my daily but it was a fun car and gave me many miles of smiles! Glad you enjoy your car Sir that indeed is what there for 👍
@@culbycars absolutely; different people have different tolerances for aggressiveness haha
thats what I want my Cougar to sound like.. right now she is all growl no bite
Sounds like a runner there aye
Sexier than socks on a rooster.
I drove a 73 mach 1 in high school
awesome!
I want to build my next engine as a flat tappet with some gnarly specs but MAN those are noisy 😂. I’m all for the hot rod sound for sure
The valvtrain noise is barley noticeable over the exhaust, and does get quieter as the engine warms up too. This cars valvetrain makes less noise then my taurus' injectors (direct injected)
@@troyberg65 I like the noticeable tapping noise in the exhaust as opposed to roller lifters, it’s very nostalgic. Even a factory spec cam with nice exhaust still has that sound before changing the lsa for some lope. Along with Weber carbs and a timing gear assembly, this thing will sound so nasty
Reliable with extended, hard thrashing like it was built fir?
@@grandcrappy more like built for wide open throttle and a lot of up and down the rpms like a Le Mans car or a classic trans am racer
@@grandcrappy Been tracking it and street driving it since install and the valve lash hasn't changed upon a couple yearly lash checks. I did have an oil pump fail on it ceased and sheared the distributor gear due to a pickup problem (long story but Figured it all out) changed it out and put a new pin in the gear and it ran 10 consistent quarter mile runs on a friday fun night a couple weeks ago.
Sounds exactly like my 355 sbc
I'm 70 and just some facts from a Mopar dude, worked on these 351 'sgood solid set up ,But my SUPER CUDA always enjoyed them for SUPPER ,the 383 and the 440 hemi's were to strong the HARDER YOU PUSHED THE HEMI's the better they ran !Chevy and Ford cams were not as advanced loob as mopars!!
My uncle has a 71 cuda with a 440 6 pack build with edelbrock heads. It's beastly but been I storage forever. He's putting the motor in an old sedan to have some fun with it temporarily. They really are strong. Don't get much chance to line up with old molars these days, but run ing the srt8 challengers is always interesting
Thats why Bob Glidden Won The Most Pro Stock Races In The History Of The Class! 351C, no Slopar or Chubby.
Sounds like my 85 Yamaha Vmax 1200. She only has 12,000 original miles and is a freaking ground pounding beast. She was also number 2131 off the production line in 1985!! I love her and she is dark red metallic and black and she will never leave my hands until I am dead and gone..
Damn sounds very nice what's the specs on your cam? Lift and duration?
it's a Lunati 30320512
Advertised Duration (Int/Exh): 276/285
Duration @ .050 (Int/Exh): 243/252
Gross Valve Lift (Int/Exh): .597/.606
LSA/ICL: 110/104
Much appreciated!
@@troyberg65 I had been eyeing that cam for several months in my old lunati cat.
After seeing this video, I finally ordered it. I've got boss heads and a funnel Web intake. Going in a 67 falcon. Thanks for this video!
@@johnmartinii77 I think It'll work well with the funnelweb intake, I've been very happy with it pulls hard just past 7000rpm with no sign of giving up on 351cubes. Make sure the valve springs are up to the task and let er rip!
@@troyberg65 thanks!
YUP SAME AS THE ONE A HAVE ON THE BARN BAD ASS!
Awesome!!
What engine mods do you have besides that wicked cam to get it sounding like that??
well the cam requires the heads to have screw in studs so the valvetrain can be adjusted; It also had single groove stainless valves installed and dual springs to control them to 7200rpm. It has hooker longtube headers (open in the video) with 3" collectors. Up top is a torker intake and fast ezefi. Bottom end was a bone stock rotating assembly aside from the cam, good timing set and restrictors in the oil passages with factory flat tops running 9.8:1 static compression.
Got some fun in that troublemaker
Hey mate sorry just got a f truck with a 351 stock with extractors. What did u do to it to get it to this point ? And how much total$ thanks heaps
@@troyberg65 thanks heaps mate, how much horsepower she got
@@cuffevlogz352 Have not dyno'd this combo but probably a bit better then 350 at the wheels. Desktop dyno puts it near 450 flywheel; but those numbers are really just a ballpark. This is a bone stock bottom end; and I'm going to a built rotating assembly over the winter.
OH YEA ! That’s what I’m talking about !!!
Nice sound. I have two of these, one 73 351c2v and one 71 351c4v. This sounds make me want to rebuild 73 with flat top pistons and cam and 71 throw in a cam to make them rumble close to that
Cleveland's respond extremely well to a properly sized camshaft and free flowing exhaust
At least nobody got hurt !
Setup and exhaust if any?? That genuinely may be the best sounding Cleveland I have ever heard...
In video it's open header 3"longtube hookers. Now has 3" mandrel x piped with hooker maxflow mufflers at around 10:1 compression.
@@troyberg65 those heads, that cam, that package just sounds SOO SWEET!! 👌🇦🇺
Plug up those other two spark plug wires! lol
Bumpitty bump bump bumpitty bump bump look at frosty go..
Man that 351 Cleveland sounds bad to the bone brother.
Sugar overdose for the ears
Sounds viscous
Sweet.
Two words, Bob Glidden
Heard a few 302 Cleveland’s sound like this
What size carb do you have on it? Any dyno?
Was running a 750dp when it was carb'd but is now on ezefi 1.0 said to flow up to 1000cfm. no dyno, maybe after I actually build the motor. Ran 13.5 at 103 with a DA well over 4000. This is a stock bottom end revving to 7000, with a c6 behind it, 3500 stall, 4.11's and a locker.
It's Fuel Injected, follow the Fuel Lines up and you can see.
Looks like it's got mudders for rear tires!
And still didn't like to stick the launch if you did it wrong even with a locker and 325/50/15 drag radials (they are old tho to be fair... with a 4000 stall and 4:11's)
