Fun fact, while Jalan Kote looks more like empanada, the word Kote probably loanword from Mandarin Chinese word Guotie which is known as Chinese potstickers in English speaking word. Yeah, both empanada and Guotie (potstickers) are dumpling.

Seharusnya Benson menjelaskan kalau kue2 yg dibungkus menggunakan daun pisang adalah kue tradisional. Bila dibungkus dengan daun pisang justru lebih sehat karena pasti makanannya dikukus tidak digoreng.

yeay...Makassar. Coto Makassar tastes better when eating at the local stall/restaurant, at Makassar. Jalangkote for sure yes we can eat it daily too, Barongko it mostly serves at weddings or local events..too sweet for me.

Kl panada kulitnya tebal kyk roti. Kl jalangkote (jalkot) kulitnya tipis, krispy, dan berongga. Isinya jg beda, kl panada isinya biasanya ikan dan sayuran (parutan wortel dan pepaya muda), kl jalkot isinya bihun, sayuran (wortel dan kentang dipotong dadu), dan telur (kadang ada yg tambahkan daging, ayam, atau udang).
Barongko kalo udah nginep di kulkas malah lebih enak lagi Bro 😊

i just at 2:20 when i saw the Coto, thats not how we used to eat that, the lemon, we squish that, and the colour of the liquid, i can tell you that is not how most of Makassar people make it, it looks so teastless cz we use many spice to make Coto, Pallu Basa, Konro, etc

Susahnya di Makassar ya, org2 semuanya cuma tau yg legend sj. Pdhl kl dari segi rasa dan selera sdh ketinggalan zaman. Dan anehnya lg, yg punya warung krn merasa warungnya legend, seenaknya main harga sampai selangit. Sampai2 dia tdk tau kl sdh ada saingannya yg siap menumbangkannya dgn hrg yg lebih pantas dan rasa yg jauh lebih enak

Its a WRONG WRONG WRONG way to eat Coto Makassar! You have to squeeze the lime into the soup & after that throw away the pulp of the lime because when the skin comes in contact with hot water it will give off a bitter taste. after that add soy sauce and chili according to your taste, and the last one, eat it with KETUPAT!

That Coto Makassar doesn't look very appetising tbh. The soup was too watery while the authentic coto's soup is more thick. But to be fair, it is really difficult to get authentic coto outside of South Sulawesi, even within South Sulawesi, there are more and more Coto restaurants that don't get the soup right.
