Is it really as easy as they claim?

I have an ENGWE EP-2 Pro ebike. The dimensions on my bike is very similar to the Lectric XP. I bought a 64 gallon tote at Lowe's and my ebike fits perfectly in it. On one side of the tote it has wheels, so it makes it easier to move around. That's how I usually store it in my garage to save space. Cool and informative video!

Thank you so much for solving a problem for me. Loading was a huge problem when the bike was folded. I'm going to try just putting the handlebars down like you showed.

Cool demo. For the record, you can fit the bike folded into just the hatch of a PT without folding any seats down. I do that with my RadMini all the time, and it is less compact when folded than the XP.

Yes, I agree, I fits nicely when folded with the seats installed, however, I have had the seats removed since the PT was new. Just works for me, and is great for 1-2 day overnight "car camping"

Keep up the good work man. I'm 75, and looking forward to getting one of those things. Keep posting and let us know how things work out.

Thanks for the video! I have my XP on order and I drive a PT Cruiser. I’m at least as old as you, so I have been wondering if this was all going to work. It looks like I’ve got nothing to worry about. Thanks, again!

Thanks for the comment Ned... I have always had the back seats in the PT removed ..and have used it as a mini-mini van ... as a result I only have to fold the handle bars and roll it in.... since the video was made ...once rolled in ... I now turn the front wheel and it fits in the back seat foot well perfect ... then I use a ratchet strap ..... it goes everywhere I go...And I do love it..... remember to order a seat...LOL...the stock one isn't fit for a 10 year olds butt

I have a 2011 Toyota Camry and it fits in the trunk.
Protip: take off the seat before putting it in. Bike goes in easy, harder to get out.

Appreciate the video. I have ordered the XP and the new Step Thru for my wife. Delivery should be in the next few weeks. My question: I know the folded dimensions of the bike is 37 x 18 x 27. When you transport in the unfolded position with the seat in the lowest position and the handlebars folded can you tell me the the height and length of the bike? I have a pick up I can transport either folded or unfolded with no problem. But my question is in regard to when I choose to transport with my car. Thank you in advance.

Don, with the bikes seat all the way down it is 28 in tall.
I have the rear seats removed, (always have them removed since I have owned the car, NOT just for the bike)
I lower the bike seat and fold the bike handlebars down and just roll it in, then I turn the front wheel 90 degrees and set it in the foot well of the car, that configuration is 53 inches long. Hope that helps. OR check out Jeremiah Mcintosh on you tube for his latest XP video (he bought a new Bike rack that he reviewed) Tell him the Old Geezer sent you.

Great video, well thought out and informative. We are basically doing the same thing as far as transporting the bike although our vehicles are different. I have a 70-30 split back seat in my Mazda6 wagon and with the bike folded and running parallel front to back I can carry it folding down the 30% portion only. I prop my golf bag against it and don't have to even bungee it down, pretty stable and secure. I would be interested to see what you figure out to secure it in the Cruiser, you don't want it too complicated with bungee cords but you don't want it shifting and tipping over either. I haven't tried to carry it assembled with the handlebars down but probably slicker than folding, thanks for that tip. Get out and ride!!

Thanks for the encouragement Allan ..I strap it down with a simple ratchet strap....
I just put the new Bikeroo seat on it ..... wow what a difference !!!!!

I would like to see a video on how you mount the XP, I am about your age and I find the seat a bit high off the ground, so I mount over the middle tube and once I get it going, I put one foot on the right pedal and climb on the saddle. Perhaps gently using the throttle to get it moving while I mount the saddle might be a better choice. How do you do it?

    • @geezerlife4375
      @geezerlife4375  Před 4 lety +4

Hi Pedro, Thanks for the video request, that is a very good point and topic ... I have not been able to ride the bike at all due to the cold and rain here the last 3 days. and I have also been a little under the weather (just a winter cold and congestion) ... however I did receive my new bikeroo seat .. that is a lot wider than the original seat and looks to have much more forgiving springs. I am 5' 7" tall with a 30" inseam and an orthopedic nightmare from the waist down. So mounting the bike depends on how my body feels. So I use 2 different methods... I keep my seat low so that once seated both my feet touch the ground ... which makes for a short pedal cycle, but honestly, so far I keep it in 7th gear on pas5 and use the throttle unless pedaling is required .. I know that using the bike in this way will shorten the range in a given charge cycle however my old butt isn't going to ride it for more than 20 miles on any given day/charge :)

@@geezerlife4375 I have used the same Bikeroo seat on my old road bike and I guess due to the leaning forward riding position I did not find it very comfy. However with the XP more upright and relaxed position, i find it very comfortable indeed. I did not even try the one that came with the XP cause i read most reviews claiming it was not very good. I purchased the woman's saddle because of the slit that it has in the middle. which allows some ventilation when I ride.
