Hi Joe & Maryann, I am also Italian, this is the exact way my Grandma & Mom and I make our artichokes, sometimes with cheese some without...ther the best....The part I mess up on is how long to cook, so thank you for saying 1hour, now I know lol cause if ther undercooked they are tough not good....I have to say, I live in Florida (used to live in Jersey) an the artichokes we get here are terrible they look like what the farmers throw away, I am not kidding, no meat on the leaves.. not good....Thank you both for taking the time to share...You guys are so sweet ..Have a blessed evening...

Hi thanks for stopping by. The real text if it's done like MaryAnn said us to pull on the leaf if it comes right out it's usually done. It's always hard to figure out a good artichoke sometimes so tender and sometimes like wood lol..

🙋🏻‍♀️Another am coffee with Joe & Maryann cooking video ! Stuffed artichokes, a blast from the past recipe
For me. My grandma would bake them in the oven , but prepare the the same way. Unfortunately, I’ve never made them & have taken the easy way out , using canned artichokes. I dip in egg & seasoned bread crumbs ,fry in olive oil , and serve as part of our antipasto! What a ritual it was making & eating those whole artichokes, another around the table fond memory . ❤️🥖🍝🍕🥫🌶❤️ JoAnn
P.S. my fathers name was Giuseppe ( Joe ) and my mother’s name was Anna , hence my nineteen fifties combined name 🤣🤣🤣🤣💁🏻‍♀️🤣🤣🤣🤣

I love stuffed artichokes. I steam them 1st so they open. My mom taught me to use crushed ritz and saltine crackers for the stuffing with fresh minced garlic, parsley, salt and pepper, course lots of grated cheese and don’t forget the real olive oil! So yummy and we always have it at Easter!

The Italian word is carciofi. I am from Malta a small island in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, very close to Italy. We stuff ours with an aglioli mix which is raw garlic, anchovies, breadcrumbs, olive oil, salt and pepper. Stuff it like you did and cook it in the same manner but add chunks of potatoes and bay leaf. This is used in lent because it has no meat or dairy. Yummy. At home my kids say we are playing rummy when we have this for dinner.
