      Yeah no worries man! I'm glad if it helped even just a bit!

    Thanks for the effort in putting this out Russell. I've been figuring this out & I realized the density of the model affects the speed of each brush stroke you do unlike when polypainting in Zbrush. Hopefully there will be a way around this. Anyways, big thanks.

      Yeah, that is the main issue with vertex painting, it can be very slow if your model has a high poly count. If you aren't averse to retopologizing, you can retopologize your model, UV unwrap it, and then texture paint it. It can be a lot of work but will help with performance issues.

      @@RussellMidfield Yeah, I agree. I guess I'm gonna have to resort to that work around for now.

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety +1

      @@edgarallanyee Yeah its a lot more time consuming unfortunately. Zbrush really shines in its ability to handle ultra high polycounts, Blender not so much haha.

    good way for a texture painting and easy :) txh

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety +1

      Haha yeah, can be a little quicker than retopologizing and texture painting which is nice if you are just going for a still image and not going to animate.

    Could you do a tutorial on how to make the eyes

      Yea for sure! Oui oui, bien sur! I did one about vertex painting an eye here: czcams.com/video/5DIs_t-1U-g/video.html, thanks for asking!

    How do we export this model? Does it export as .obj with a .mtl? Or can it export as one file? I'm asking this because a 3D print service claims you can have a model-with-color-file, all in one, for upload to their website. I wonder what kind of a file that would be...

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety

      No worries! Good question, I suppose you could export as an .obj if you wanted to do color printing, but in all honestly I have never 3d printed anything, so I'm not 100% sure, sorry!

    This is fantastic. I have retopoed my model but uv unwrapping is so bothersome. This way seems better for me. Can this be used for animation? Also how do you bake this?

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah it's a pretty quick way to lay down some colour and texture! That's the issue though, this won't work for animation unfortunately. You can bake vertex colors using an Emit node from what I've read!

    is it good way if Im making characer for my game?

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety

      No, I would suggest retopologizing the character first, then UV unwrapping it, then texture painting it instead if you are going to use it in a game.

      @@RussellMidfield I use instat mesh isnt that enough for retopolizng? Thank you

    • @RussellMidfield
      @RussellMidfield  Před 3 lety +1

      Oh I see, yeah if you used instantmesh already, it may be OK for a game then!
