This weeks video is the exhaust from the E30 325i. This is an aftermarket part but I thought, as it came with the car when I got it, I'd keep it on there for now.

PROCESS:
I started this one by cleaning the two pieces with concentrated degreaser. Once clean I discovered almost every surface was covered in burnt on bits of rubber, from what I suppose was the tyres. There was also a lot of surface corrosion on the pipes which I was not expecting as it is all stainless. This would have to be removed with force.
I then removed the mounting rubber and bracket. I wanted to be as gentle with the exhaust as possible so I did some tests. The parts that didn't have corrosion on I could just buff back with some metal polish. As for the other parts, I had to use some prepping pads. For the mufflers, I tried a variety of polishing techniques and found that yes, an orbital polisher is best.
Once I had spent a whole load of time removing all of the surface corrosion and discoloring. I then treated the carrier and bracket with some rust converter and prevention solution. Once that had time to dry, I set about masking up the bracket for painting. I then hit both pieces with some extreme heat black paint.
I took the exhaust to an engineering company who tig welded the hole for me. He sanded it back as he didn't know if it was chromed or not. I don't mind it's going under the car anyway.
Once the rubber mount was dry, I squeezed it back on to finish the job.

Thanks for watching! This will be the last video I make in the UK. It was a bit squeeze, as I'm moving to Spain on the 25th of January. The restorations may slow for a little while. But once I'm there and set up, I'll be posting more than I have ever posted. I'll be making a workshop restoration/build series as soon as I arrive. I currently have an empty room waiting for me. I'm very excited about the future of Restore It. We are only getting started!
Car coming with you?
I thought youre from usa...
I just want to se finished car irl. I live in Spain. Suerte
Restore It can I come live in your workshop
Of course :)
This BMW will be worth a small fortune once complete !
I think so. But I can't sell it! lol.
Restore It might change ur mind when the offers roll in 😎
I seriously can’t wait to see the finished product. The amount of time, effort, and dedication going into this project is amazing.
The best part, you’re making new what was once old. Great job! This is my favorite channel on CZcams.
Thank you big time AC! It's comments like this that drive me. I'm so glad you like the channel. I'm only getting started.
this channel is a sanctuary for people who don't want to watch youtube videos with a bunch of talking. love it
are you going for an engine rebuild too? (certainly hope so)... dude you put a smile on my face any time i see a video of yours. thank you.
I sure am dude, I have all of the parts waiting.
I love those car parts videos the most because every item you restore is a full-on fascinating project in their own right. No matter how small or large the parts are, they're all an intricate and involved project to restore. That is why, I think, this project is amazing to follow. Hopefully I'll be around to see the full car!
So happy to see another upload, can't wait for more
Thanks, Billy, loads more to come!
I like watching you restore car parts the best.
Absolutely excellent job, my cat goes nuts when he hears the speeded up polisher 😂
Haha! in a good way?
Oh yes, he must think it's a mouse, he runs about looking for it 😂
Outstanding work as always. It's the staple of the restoration community
Thank you, dude. I always look forward to seeing a comment from you.
@@RestoreIt you're welcome and thank you very much 😃
I love the way you make your videos - no talking, no "being aswesome", no wasting time - just pure DIY. Hope this won't change when you move to Spain :) All the best and a lot of sun!
Can‘t wait for the rest of this car 🙏🏻🙏🏻 luv your vids. Greets from Austria
I just found this channel. This guy goes the distance. I have two e30's and getting many good pointers from guy.
degreaser? i think you mean soapy wooder :p
Haha, i need to get some of that magical stuff he uses.
@@RestoreIt which degreaser is that?
@@Zka91 look in the description

Don't forget to ask for some blinker fluid too for future headlight restore

Even on a brand new exhaust that’s a huge job. Crazy impressed

Amazing job as always!
Keep up the good work sir!
Great Video!
Great job, Like usual
You're such a talented guy, you make everything look easy and do a quality job everytime, great stuff keep it up mate
Great video as always! Your attention to detail and production value has made me dislike some other restoration channels xD
Hey, Steve! Wow! Mirror finish mufflers (silencers)! Great job. I'm so excited for you as you start your journey of a lifetime. I know you've been planning this for a long time. We'll keep watching as you set up shop and fulfill your dreams. Take care, my friend.
Thank you as always Gary. It's going to be a big job moving, but I can imagine the end result, so its going to happen :) You always keep me motivated. Take care and speak soon.
As usual, great work keep it up !
Great work 👍👍
Awesome video as always! As a BMW owner and car enthusiast I especially love this series of restoration videos. I have loved watching your skill improve and watch you try different tools and techniques as your channel has gone on. I have been inspired by you and hope to do some amateur restorations of my own on passed down tools I have and on my own BMW.
(Side Note) I'm not a big fan of the exhaust tips on that. Lol
Thanks, Aaron, That is epic to hear! Thank you for sharing that with me. Send me some photo if you're up for it. Email in the description.
I'm also not the biggest fan of the huge pipes... Very... Ali G.
^lmaooo
why are you making this e30 so damn nice?! is it going to be a museum car?
It'll probably end up getting stacked on its first trip out.
no. shut up
Cheers brother. I used to do muffler work back in the 70 s. We never restored anything. We replaced alot of crap, but never restored it.
Love your videos, rate the way you film them as you show how to do things step by step, enjoy living in Spain 👍
this is coming together really well i think end results are soon enough :D iam happy for you man nice video keep it up
Thank you Gamal!
Thanks for letting us know about any delays in the uploads. Safe travels Steve. You jammie git.
👍 from 🇬🇧 ;-)
Haha! I'm outta here! Thanks, Ben. If all goes well. I'll be creating a 'Restore It Ranch' out in Spain for any cold weather viewers who want a hands-on holiday! See you there?
@@RestoreIt .. Just a FYI, if you have any chrome to polish, be careful with the autosol. I know its says chrome cleaner on it, but it can be a bit harsh because chrome is very thin. There's definitely better polishes out there for chrome. Autosol is brilliant stuff though. I always used it on my motorbike casings and wheels. 👍 🇬🇧
Those pipes came out amazing!
Thanks!
Good shit man, favorite channel!!
Looks exhausting...
I think this is one of the best sounding exhausts for a e30, I have one on mine.
Another great video ...always delivering
Cheers Wesley.
Magic work! 👍👍👍
Thank you!
Those look great! Stainless steel is a godsend!
Beautiful!
Yes!!! Finally!!
Nice job!
Can't wait to see when you get into the build with all these restored parts. Keep going!
Thank you Stuntman.
i am so excited to see the finished car when it finally gets done :O. should be sema worthy
Amazing 😮
The end result is fantastic
Thank you!
Is anyone else extremely eager to see this whole car when it’s finished? 😍
Me two!
Shine bright like a diamond
I dont know why but i keep coming back to your videos. I think its the 4th or 5th time ive watched this one 😂 (but that does not mean i want you to post more often. Take your time 😊
Hi, I'm from Brazil and I really like your videos. Congratulations on work.
Good job... i watch youn from Poland
Nice!!! I love this channel. I did an engine rebuild on mine but no matter whenever you upload I always get excited!
The best asmr for cars...ths dude :3
Love it ❤️
I am inpressed
amazing!
Can’t wait to see the finished project. Would say you could maybe put any promotions at the start, it’s a bit jarring having them come out of the blue once you’re engrossed in the video. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Provost, and thanks for the advice. The thing with these brand deals is they have a very specific set of requirements I have to stick to. I will take what you have said onboard though, for sure.
@@RestoreIt yeah they want it somewhere in middle for a reason. I personally don't mind sponsor ads as long as they don't take half the video. Keep doing what you do ;)
Your welding is improving hugely every video. Lovely end result on this one too :)
Cheers! Have a good trip :)
can't wait for engine rebuild :D:D
Good luck on the new place!
Buen trabajo hermano. Saludos desde Chile.
Good job,we want more movie with BMW 😉
Your Work are Incredible! Greetings from Brazil! ;)
Beautiful
What in the world was in that degreaser 😂😂 you wiped it off and I was like whelp that's the end of the video
Videoların çok hoşuma gidiyor devam et hacım :d ❤
I always watch your videos
Great job as usual. Got two big bags of wire brushes for the dremel today from eBay! Thanks for telling me
Bardzo Dobra robota
Fantastic
Youre a mad man
Well done, a great job once again! En hora buena en ES! We will see you when you move.
You have some serious patience! I would have tossed them out and bought new. But, you did a great job restoring them!
Looked pretty good after the degreaser!!
nice job interesting to see it clean up that way.....inspired to polish my SStl Series 3 Landover exhaust now ...only just bought it and was not convinced it was SStl...I'll polish it before I put it on.
man, i'm stunned that you spent all that time. not surprised, it's what you do, but man!
also, i was watching you go at it witht eh rotary tool, and I was going crazy. you're so patient, i'd be in there with a grinder and a copper brush wheel, calling it good enough after 2 hours.
then again, your car's going to be almost showcar quality. mine's. well.. not....
thanks for sharing.
seb.
Nice restoration. I would vote for leaving the current exhaust tips on it. If for no other reason than them having the manufacturer logo on them. I like retaining stuff like that when doing restorations.
Thanks Shane. And interesting thinking. I'm not sure if Scorpion put them on, or someone else.
@@RestoreIt could be either one. But if it is a period correct aftermarket performance part then having the logo ads to the correctness. Similar to having a modern Borla or Dinan piece.
Cant wait for the deep scratches video! Have a good move to Spain!
Thanks Ramvilles!
amazing
I hade a Scorpion exhaust on my Opel Vectra C 2.0T, sounded soo damn sweet.
Good Job my friend 😃👌
Great work! Have to do the same on my Eisenmann.
Thanks!
Those wheel buffing ball pad things work great at getting in to weird and tight spots, I think they could help you a little
I am going to go and buy an old exhaust system for my classic car so this video is just perfect timing. :P
Excellent, good to hear Emin!
Nice , all the best in Spain
Excellent
Thanks, Elektronik. Always good to see you.
I love your videos so much
Thanks, Khalid! Many, many more to come.

Great!👍do more videos like this
Great video! I love your channel and the attention to detail. Your finished products definitely show it. Enjoy Spain. Spanish cuisine is outstanding and more varied than in the UK. You will love it. The Spanish are very friendly. Best wishes from New Mexico USA!
Thank you, Jim! I haven't had time to think what living in Spain will be like. You've got me more excited now! Thank you Jim, always good to see you here.
Good work
Thanks dude!
Man i cant wait for the engine
It's coming! small series I think.
