In this episode, I get to work on some of the last parts that will be restored for this engine. Coming up is the work from the machine shop, an engine bay tidy up and the rebuild of the engine. Not long after that, I should also have an episode on putting the other, already restored engine, back into the touring.

Will the E30 be available on Turo once it's fully restored?
Una pregunta heres español ??
Restore It are you ever gonna finish the 325i sport
Isnt it Wonderful how One Can Still Fine Engine parts that are Still Like New After Ya Wash Off All the Oily Dirt Build-up...like i said Keep Doing this and your Car WILL Last Another 10 Years or More Without Need it to Be in a Repair Shop and Having to Spend So much Money💰
Hello!поддон провод масса неправильно другая сторона отверстия как было старое.
Cant wait to see this engine when it is finished in the car!
Oh me either! :D
Will look better than new for sure
Ya me to
Lovely work, as always! Please remember to drop some powersteering fluid in that pump and give it a spin by hand before mounting it. The same for your engine oilpump. And fill that oil filter full of oil before you'll mount it permanently.
Man, your channel has really helped my OCD. I love to see damaged things being repaired to near-perfect condition.
I can already feel the loss of power because you filled those holes
We're probably looking at a 50hp loss. For sure. Worth it for the factory feel ;)
Not sure if sarcastic or serious.
110% sarcastic, those holes weren't doing anything besides give the engine a bit of induction honk (maybe, if one is lucky).
Any other restorer wouldn't have bothered to sand the inside... @11:29 props to your dedication! 👌👍
Easily the best channel on CZcams.. No non-sense just pure skill and craftsmanship
Man, i get so excited when i see your uploads
Cheers, Rob! Glad you're enjoying the vids.
never seen someone more patient than this guy
In my best Jedi voice... "The OCD Force is strong in this one" I say this because you polished the brass inserts that go inside the air box, that no one will ever see. Good on Ya Mate!
I love how you mention you're going to fix a paint imperfection on a part that will instantly be the color of spanish dirt the literal second you roll the car out of the driveway.
Don't worry about fixing mistakes on imperceptible parts, just focus on not making the same mistake again!
Pleeeease buy a new Cooling Fan. The Old one might fly into pieces. Don't cut cost's on such parts. In my A4 B5 the stupid thing flew into pieces. I was lucky, only a new fan shroud. From other people I've seen destroyed hoods, coolers and pipes. Do yourself a favor and replace it. ^^
But the rest of the Videos: Awesome to watch. In certain points I would recommend to buy more new stuff, but nonetheless awesome to watch.
I will in not so far future do the same, but I'm then setting up eventually a small turbo build.
I will I willllll. I've read the comments. It's the right thing to do. Thanks for being nice about it.
Cheers Jens!
@@RestoreIt Goooood :D
I'm just releasing some of my experience with those stupid fans...:D
Being nice to other people, specially when they may overlook things, (which I do very often) is a key component when you're doing repairs/restores at cars or older things. Gathering experience and also share it to others when "needed" helps with some things a lot :D
Can't wait to see the engine back in it's factory fresh state.
You should then really give BMW in Munich a visit when your other E30 is done. :)
Greetings from Germany ^^
Jens Harbers I have an A4 B5, flying into pieces is what it does best! Lol
@@jensharbers6702 calling people stupid when talking about being nice yourself. do you think it's nice or okay to call people stupid?
@@StanleyKubick1 Jens didn't call anyone stupid, he was talking about the fan on an A4 B5.
Two things...
Bolt that bench grinder down!!
And fit a fumoto valve in place of the sump plug:)
Great series, the attention to detail is second to none.
This E30 is going to be so clean when it’s rebuilt. Can’t wait to see it.
Get yourself a set of crafting scalpels it makes removal of excess masking tape so easy, especially the hard to access spaces. Better than a razor blade. Keep up the great work
The attention to detail is excellent and the results speak for themselves!! You work your ass off!! Next time you're in California I'd like to buy you a beer
You have finally inspired me to do what I have wanted to do for a long time now. I have always repaired my own cars all of my life in the UK and now I am retired here in Poland I purchased a 1960 Warszawa M20 garbuska a classic old Polish car to restore it to its former glory. The car turns over and the bodywork is okayish and needs some work, but seeing as it is 2 years older than me at 57 it's not half bad for its age. 😊 It may take my five or ten years but watching you work on every fine detail has gotten excited about the project. Should be fun. 😊😊
You're gonna have the most perfect E30 in the planet ! This is almost like handbuilding the entire car, not even the brand new that got out of the factory 30 years ago had this much love put into it. Well done!
That MDF on your bench tops is going to soon be the bane of your existence.
Buy some dirt cheap vinyl flooring, the click down planks and put it right over the top of the MDF...that stuff is cheap and can take a pounding.
i can't believe how you can manage to just know where everything goes! Especially the nuts and bolts for each piece...
Karine M He’s recording the entire process so these videos ain’t just for us, they are for him to reference, too 😇
Flywheel teeth:
Steve: Don’t worry, I got you. Black paint.
The paint you put on that flywheel is going to come right off into the bendix gear when you crank the motor. Beautiful work as usual though!
I have been following your work particularly this current restoration project...and one word to sum you up...A SERIOUS INDIVIDUAL.
Great work, keep it up
wow! even touching up the teeth on the flywheel that nobody ever going to see again! much respect!👊🏻
Your attention to detail is just unreal. I mean, you even painted the ring gear on the flywheel, and you won't even see that part when it's in the car. Respect.
your attention to detail is amazing. I could never do that.
Thank you Roman!
To mask bolt holes try those foam ear plugs. Perfect fit and they’re reusable.
Wow. That's actually a great idea. I'm going to use them from now on. I can't believe I've never though of that lol
Jake I didn’t discover it, I picked that tip up from watching Handtool Rescue’s channel. It’s helped me a ton. Best part is they’re cheap, you can get a big tub of them on amazon for like $20
The component you pulled out at 9:08 is the pressure control valve for the steering pump, judging by how black the fluid was that came out of that pump I would recommend opening the valve and cleaning the internal components with brake cleaner. If you cant get the valve open you can let it soak in brake cleaner for an hour or so and let thoroughly dry before reinstalling. The genuine seal kits for this model pump is cheaply available on ebay and is relatively easy to install (~30 minutes work)
You should know this is currently my favorite thing on youtube. I get happy when I see your notifications about this project. Great content.
If I ever make it to Spain, I'm gonna come to your garage and shake your hand.
Can't wait to see this Beemer all in one big glorious piece!
Amazing! Was watching other videos and you post this one! Excellent work as usual! Thanks for posting!
Good to hear! Enjoy!
I used to get told I was to meticulous, I got nothing on you dude.
Amazing attention to detail.
23:00 there were supposed to be two o-rings, but i only saw one, i hope you didn't forget it.
The second (Black) One is on the round Cover Thing and just seals it from leaking oil outwards
This guy has a tool for EVERYTHING!!! I love it. Great work. Seriously can’t wait to see the final result
The amount of detail is spectacular.Truly an artist of restoration.Well done sir.
oh God a very good video during the week? thanks a lot, we need more than just one, great work.
meticulous attention to detail .......... love it ! drooling here waiting on the next installment .
I really admire your patience! Great job!
Don't wet sand and polish the oil pan. Looks great like this. Looking forward to every episode :-)

Wanna the bimmer ready
Beautiful work, as always

Love the painted finish on the oil pan, definitely an improvement. Great work as always!
This is so satisfying to watch my man thank you! Greetings from South-Africa
Amazing job bro.absolutly amazing!
I love your dedication, man.
it's great that you know what you can do by yourself and what not! awesome work!
Cheers Tommy!
Never a more deserving model of car👍 I remember when these were released - loved them then, and still do today! My '89 convertible will be with me until the end😄
The level of detail is amazing.
Wow, nice job👍👍
Keep up the good work...
This silver color looks awesome!
Salut je suis français j’attends toujours t’es vidéo de la restauration de ta BMW e30 avec impatience 😊
fantastic job as always
I love your videos man......so satisfying and therapeutic to watch. 👍
Great work as always.
Thanks for all this perfect works.
So a few comments from someone who has worked in restorations professionally.
1) On cast aluminum parts, if you want a durable but more lasting finish, glass bead them then coat with matte clear.
2) NEVER blast intake manifolds with the openings uncovered, you never get all the bead out of the interior and it goes into your nice freshly rebuilt engine. This does not do good things.
3) On a single mass flywheel like that, generally a good idea to have it ground.
4) If it were me, I'd have found a used lower air box than spend a lot of time fixing the holes.
5) None of the above should be taken to detract from some beautiful work. Keep it up!
Outstanding detail.
Those holes are just for the sound, they make admission sound louder. I've seen them done in the e34 525i too.
Excellent 👌 workmanship
thank you for this i am binge watching it and and feel some kind of incredible satisfaction and peace doing so
Man i love the videos. I'm ready to see the block and see it all put back together looking brand new.
I love watching your videos, keep doing like that.
Thanks dude, loads more to come :)
Excellent job man!! You are great and your videos too. Keep in that way!! Salutes from Argentina.. and Aguante restore it👑
Thank you Jere! Loads more to come :D
Looking good again!
Loving how quick youre getting these vids out mate
Can’t wait to see the next one!
I love this channel so much.
Your dedication is inspirational!! I wish I had half your commitment :)
Amazing work!!!
Thanks, Combat!
Wow, talk about over engineering, each part is so complicated. You are amazingly doing a spectacular job. 👍🏻
Since you painted the other bits of the engine, powder coat the manifold!! It will look a million stars!! imo Cheers and great work!!
Who would not fall in love with this engine?
Excellent restoration 👍 I like it
this time has assembling footages !!!! nice !!!!
Looks good. I hope you are going to get that flywheel resurfaced before putting on a new clutch. Great attention to detail. Great Video!
marka2555 this was the comment I was looking for. I kept saying to myself get that thing machined don’t worry about painting the damn ring gear.
yeah idk about surface treating a flywheel...
Andrew, you should have a flywheel machined before installing a new clutch as an old surface will be slightly warped and can have hotspots although this one doesn’t have any hot spots. Similar to machining your brake discs when installing new pads.
@@MrRob221984 I was wondering as well. I really hope he did.
Поскорей бы увидеть его в машине! Супер!
Attention to detail LVL 1000
congrats on half a million subs!
It's amazing, are you joking? Extremely well done. Cheers man
Very nice job on the air box, by the way!
BMW should give a medal for this. :D
Perfect video 👍👍
Love this channel
Damn this engine will be a show piece
Woo part 6 let's gooo!! 😊👍
i thought i was crazy when restoring my car but now, i know i'm not the only one ! Cool !
Just a tip incase you didn't know with filters always put a blob of oil on the seal. Makes it easier to remove later on and prevents damage to the seal. Never use grease though as it can eat away at the seal.😊
This engine will look better than its orginal look
Hello. I’m watching from Azerbaijan. You are making great videos. Keep it up mate!
Thank you, Ferid! Loads more to come :)
I glad i stumbled upon your stuff :)
good job Perf .!
Ahhhh my week is complete now.
Great work,
Cheers Lucas.
Hey, Steve! You are getting so close to being able to reassemble the engine! I'm sure all your viewers are getting really excited for you. I hope you decide to put the power steering pump on the coupe--it'll be a nice upgrade--especially since you already have it ready to install. I'm working on that question you asked in the email--doing some research to backup my gut response. I think you'll be surprised with my answer. Take care, my friend, and be safe.
