The main thing with these IMO is to bring *everything* out onto a patch bay, along with all your outboard gear, especially if you're adventurous and plan to print processed signal to the DAW, which I often did in those days.
On desks like these, the "solo" button usually connects the channel to the meters, to achieve PFL (Pre Fader Listen, not perfect effing level, thank you) monitoring. It's not to play just that channel as one might expect from its name.
having a problem trying to link my Mackie pro fx22v3 usb mixer in presonous studio one 5 ..I have a Mac mini 3.2 ghz 6 core intel core i7..I can not get sound to come from speakers through the mixer ....I tried to link as a controller ..but wasn't successful ...any help at this point would be much appreciated ...
I just got one of these 24-8 mixers for my studio. I currently have my TR-808 plugged into channels 14-24 and channels 1-13 for various other things. Can I plug a TR-909 into the tape return slots on those same 14-24 channel and use the "flip" button to toggle which of the drum machine's instruments I want to use?
Hi mate, I’ve always been interested in getting a mixing desk. I don’t know much about them. Watched a few videos, but that’s it. Can you tell me what I would need to get set up please, i.e: Mixing desk, reverb machine, converter, speakers, etc? Thanks a lot. Paul
Does this mackie worth invest for studio mixing? I am focusing on Metal and Pop Rock something. I am considering this kind of mixer or 500 series module
I just got one of these mixers and for some reason I can only get signal on the main out when a channel is soloed. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? The button to send the channel to the main mix doesn't seem to do anything in my case
hellom, I have a Macke SR 40-8 mixer its more setup for Live , but I'd like to run it like a Studio console. Could you tell me how to run the signal to pro tools in. my computer. thanks
Can you do a tutorial just on the busses. I have this mixing desk but not sure how to have the work flow. do you have the outputs of the busses going into your audio interface? thanks for any help
The busses on most desks work differently so it’ll be a difficult video. I’ll have a think about it though and see what I can do. Which desk do you have?
Pherotone Studios I have the same mixer. But I can’t seem to work out how the get the outputs of the buses as a direct out. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or if my desk is faulty
There is but I can’t remember how we used to do it as I no longer use the desk. Personally I always use a monitor controller. The Mackie Big Knob is my personal favorite
I used to use a desk like this. 8 submix busses out to the DAW, and DAW returns back into Mix-B of the first 8 channels. Made tracking such a joy.

Thank You for sharing your knowledge… Happy New Year to you.
Sincerely 🙏🏼
WOW very nice. Thank you from Germany

LOL. I know. My PFL acronym is more amusing though. Great desk and I’m pretty sure it’s based on a Mackie one that’s almost identical

How do you get it to work with the daw ?
How do you hook up to usb with this unit thanks
do all desks hae stereo inpiuts?
hellom, I have a Macke SR 40-8 mixer its more setup for Live , but I'd like to run it like a Studio console. Could you tell me how to run the signal to pro tools in. my computer. thanks
You’d need to send the output from the desk into an interface and the outputs from the interface into a couple of channels on the desk
Can you do a tutorial just on the busses. I have this mixing desk but not sure how to have the work flow. do you have the outputs of the busses going into your audio interface? thanks for any help

Ah ok. From memory, there should be 8 outputs corresponding to the 8 busses. Can you see signal on the bus channels on the meter?
is there a way to turn off the main mix for speakers but not heaphones?
There is but I can’t remember how we used to do it as I no longer use the desk. Personally I always use a monitor controller. The Mackie Big Knob is my personal favorite
Just lower the fader for the MAIN out to the bottom and keep the control/headphone mix turned up... Should do the trick.
How do I connect this to a laptop ??? And connect it to Logic Pro
audio interface,,
Hard to understand when you dont know anything about mixing.probably easyer for people who know a bit about this
