    cool tip: if you upgrade the firmware of the NUX Atlantic to the latest version you can set it to 100% wet mode so it can work better as an outboard effect for mixing.

      Thank you! I used Mackies a lot back in my time working commercial studios. I always liked them and thought they sounded good. This one was a lucky find as it's in decent shape and I got it cheap.

    Just picked up the Mackie 24-8...and would love to see a series on this desk...and all of it's capabilities etc...examples if eq'ing etc...routing from tape in to re routing elsewhere...the direct out is amazing too on this machine...the Mackie 24-8 is a wildly capable and versatile desk...

      Sure! I was planning on making more videos with the Mackie 8 Bus. I have 3 I think but I will definitely make more showing how everything works as time allows. I'm on a gear hunting trip at the moment to find more gear to feature on the channel. Thanks so much for your comment.

    have you ever used a soundtech panoramic series (or any other from this brand)? i'm interested in the 24x8 version of the panoramic for my studio but there's so little info around.
    happy new year!

    • @TwinCreekAudio
      @TwinCreekAudio  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Happy New Year! Unfortunately I am not familiar with anything made by Soundtech. I have seen some mixers with that name a long time ago but they were small mixers made or club or band practice so might not be the same. Some newer Soundtech consoles seem to be associated with Trident so could be good. I just havent had any experience with them or any Trident newer than an 80B.

    I own this very console and this is informative can't wait for the next video on this.
    I read the manual and it is saying that a lot of the connections are not balanced on this unit will that make a difference?

    • @TwinCreekAudio
      @TwinCreekAudio  Před 6 měsíci

      It makes the most difference with long cable runs. I've never any issues running unbalanced consoles like this in my small studio. The mic connections are balanced and those are probably the longest cables I use. I'll be setting up and recording with the Mackie next time. Thanks so much for watching!

    Hey Grady! Great vid as always! I just recently picked up the 32.8 Bus Mackie board with the meter bridge. It's awesome! I have a question? What is the best brand, and type of audio interface to use with these boards? Are you running yours into a two channel interface or, one with multiple inputs, and outputs?

    • @TwinCreekAudio
      @TwinCreekAudio  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I'm using older firewire interfaces but anything that works with your DAW will work fine. Mine have 24 individual inputs and outputs so they are definitely multi-channel interfaces. There's really no way to use a console for summing with just a two-channel interface. There are probably a lot of better interfaces on the market now, but I am still using Echo Audiofire 12s synced with word clock and connected with FireWire 400 to 800 cables and a Thunderbolt to firewire adapter for my Mac Pro. There are so many great interfaces available now, it's hard to say which is best. I think the RME Digiface is a good way to go since its USB to the DAW host and ADAT connections for up to 32 channels of IO. You could then pick and choose 8 channel converters for each set of 8 IO.

      @The-Jim-Miller-Project Před 5 měsíci +1

      @@TwinCreekAudio Thank You very much man! I was thinking about getting one of those older Motu 24i/o interfaces as they are apparently also Firewire. They have 24 analog inputs, and outputs which would be more than enough for summing even though my board has 32 channels. I'm also running into an iMac. Before I got this 32.8 Bus board, I was running a Mackie 1640i (firewire to thunderbolt adaptor into iMac) That's a great smaller board but, I really love the 32 mixing desk. Maybe I can patch the two together, and use the 1640i as the interface, and the 32 8 Bus as the main board. Anyway, Keep your awesome videos coming! I appreciate you!

      @@The-Jim-Miller-Project Thank you! I'm using my 24 channels of IO with a 44 channel console. The extra channels are good for effects returns with EQ and I've also used the extra channels to connect some tape machines to the console for video demos. I should have more videos coming with the Mackie and other analog gear soon. Thanks again!

      Hey Grady! Hope all is good. Looking forward to seeing more of your vids. I’ve been recently using the Submaster inserts on the Mackie 8Bus for parallel compression on the whole mix with 4 different compressors. Two stereo, and two mono compressors. I find it to make the mix great sounding. Very punchy. Does doing parallel compression on the entire mix override the need to put a bus compressor on the two bus or, would you still use one?

    Question for ya!
    I have a Mackie Pro Fx 12v3, I can use the inserts as direct outputs if I only insert cable to first click. Do all consoles typically have this feature?

      Most inserts should work that way. Use whatever side of the insert is send. With the Mackie, its ring but the Soundtracs was tip send.

    I use a Soundcraft (GB8) 48ch console with 8 busses. Unfortunately, it's not in-line. I mainly mix and not record, so it works decently.

      You can probably use some of the extra channels as tape returns and other for recording if you need to do both at the same time. Soundcraft makes great consoles so it should sound good regardless.

    • @TwinCreekAudio
      @TwinCreekAudio  Před 6 měsíci

      They are designed different ways. Usually when the monitor channels are embedded in the main channels, it's an inline design. The Topaz was made in different versions with the Project 8 having the monitor channels embedded in the main channels. The Topaz Maxi etc do not have these as they are designed more for sound reinforcement or theater.
