    Wish there had been a video like this when I was starting to get my head around this stuff years ago. Thanks Weezna. Also just wanted to say I love your studio - particularly that your gear is well chosen, customised and sprinkled with some great equipment but intelligently, not just top shelf 'everything' like you see in some YT productions. To me, shows you've put in the hard yards over the years and this comes through in your approach. I wish you great continued success! Keep the content flowing!

    Thank you. I’ve been pondering the different routing options since I just got my Soundcraft Ghost back from a friend after many years. It’s 24 channel with also another 24 secondary’tape returns’ so essentially its 48 summable inputs.
    Being that it’s for my home pre-production/writing/recording setup I’m hesitant to route everything to my patchbays & more keen to use the 8 buss outputs to route to the soundcard.
    The thing I really enjoy about that configuration is that I just have to set everything to unity on the daw when recalling sessions. I personally find it more productive and inspiring to spend as little time outside the box and treating the computer more like a linear tape machine/hard disk recorder obviously with the advantages of a DAW but also being set up to treat it as a destructive recording configuration so I can make more spontaneous commitments [ie print things with their current channel settings/processing/fx/etc] and i have found my recordings / sound design / composition decisions come together more quick & succinctly with far less need for post processing.
    It REALLY helps to have your video playing as I look over my own rig, far more than doodling a zillion theoretical configurations 😅 THANK YOU AGAIN

    Great vid man. Just picked up a 40ch gl3300 and looking to run the direct outs into my preSonus Studiolive 24ch for tracking. Wondering if I need to change any factory settings to the console to use EQ and preamp section for some flavor before digitizing. I'll also be attempting analog summing so not sure if I should split 24ch into post fade and 16 into prefade pertaining to TRS direct outs. Your vids are definitely helping me figure this board out. I just sourced and ordered parts to build a DC power source for it. Ready to fire it up and record some drums and guitars 🙌

    • @TrueSoundTV
      @TrueSoundTV  Před 2 lety

      It really depends on the mixer, but in a lot of cases yes. The more important part is that it has a direct output for each channel. Not every single mixer has this, and a lot of the new digital mixers don’t. There are options to add direct outputs as an additional option, but you would have to check for that particular mixer

    What I want to know is how you connect your ADC to the computer, and then from the computer to the DAC. That's the part I really need to see. Optical? Does that mean I go straight into the back of my CPU using a tos link from the ADC? When I look at the back of my computer, I don't see any ADAT or Tos link in's or out's. What do I need in order to connect an ADC to my computer so I can send the sound signal to my DAW.
