    I picked one up 5 years back in a Copenhagen 2nd hand shop for approx $30. I use it for my mixdowns from synths, groove boxes, and drum machines etc. it’s very versatile. You can use effects sends on each of the 4 mix busses (basically 4 effects sends), then also wire the direct outs of each channel with the included jumpers to the submix. The submix has its own send receive as well that I use for Reverb for the whole mix. Then you can mix back in the amount of submix you want to the main output. No need for another mixer if you don’t need to capture stems.
    The mic pre’s on the first 6 channels are very good. Much better impedance matching than modern mixers. Plenty of gain. No need for cloud lift on my RE-20s or SM 7B.

      thats dope! ima look into how i can use those mix busses. but i do need to capture stems. that way i can mix each element further in pro tools. right now im using the sub mix as an effects send into my 404 and using that for effects.

    Good job dude. And that beat sounds like it's on its way to being a banger.

      Do you have videos on your set up? Mainly want to know how you're routing!

      @@solsearchknowledgecenter5252 I don’t have video set up. I would probably run it through the aux unless it needed filters. If it needs filter like the eq I would use two line in’s.

    I have the tascam m-30 and just switched up to the model 5 , this era of equipment is so awesome

      yessir! i was interesting in the m-30 because of the parametric eq, how’s that?

    • @Rizzlino_Music
      @Rizzlino_Music Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@jgiscooltoo it's awesome having a little more control over the eq section on the m30. One thing we can agree on is the circuits in these teac tascam mixers are colorful and warm. Love your setup, I also run direct out of my m30 into my daw using direct outs. U should look into using each channels send and receive ports to run inline hardware effects... I'm working on recording to 8ch tape soon -> czcams.com/users/shortsJpeE3S4ISlg?si=RG8_ApLOGZKtWstC

    Nice vid.
    The Tascam Model 3 was a new model around 1980, not 1969 or 1970.

    I just bought a Teac Tascam 5A - I noticed mine didn't come with RCV jumpers. Did yours come with it or did you purchase them?

      My bad, let's run it back. So, what I wanna know is if you've got any info on the bridge that connects the faders for channels 7 and 8. Did you buy it or 3D print it yourself? I've got a Model 5 and I need those bridges.

    I want a mixer to multitrack my mpc beats using the 8 outs,
    (And keep the analog warmth)
    do you have a recommendation?

    • @jgiscooltoo
      @jgiscooltoo  Před 3 měsíci

      right now i’m using the tascam model 24 and that gets the job done. you can use the smaller versions like the the model 12 or 16. i’ve also used the zoom l-8 mixer to track out beats and that worked just fine. as far as keeping the analog warmth, i feel both mixers the tascam and zoom l-8 are pretty transparent so you’ll still hear the warmth from the mpc.
