      I never want you to think he was not the GOAT! The man got to my max competition body weight of around 235 at my height of 5 foot 11 inches before he did gear!! That's how much more he is then most! I won a state show natural at a huge 183 lol. I did what Ronnie Coleman did then and did gear but just a little compared to my friends recommendations and put on 62 pounds in 2 years! I thought that was unbelievable untile I saw Coleman the same as me natural at the Olympia! I never wanted to compete after I started gear because it was just not worth the risks and with genetic phenomenon like Coleman I never stood a chance! When he did the same as me he gained 100 pounds! I just said eef it at that point and made my living and pretty good one though bodybuilding and fitness. In no wan would I ever rather be him then me!! No trophy or amount of money can by back what he lost! I wish the man would've trained more carefully and used the science we have now like I did instead just egoing it!!! He is one hell of a nice guy and a better man then most top athletes in the world! I just with he had his cake and could eat it too! Jay did!! Now that man is a pro to learn from! He beat Ronnie with sheer will and stayed till Ronnie broke himself! Jay knew it was just a matter of time so he didn't do stupid things and take extra chances and hurt himself!! He did it the right way and let hubris take it course! Brovo! I just feel Coleman is not reeping the rewards of all the hard work he did because he counted on his genetics and gear so much!! If it wasn't so easy for him he might have put more thought into it. The only reason I made it as far as a state show is because I was definitely the best natural on the stage because half of them failed the drug test. LOL I got lucky too!! I am still lucky because I can do all the things I love besides weight training like pick up my wife, kids and anything else I want to after 25 years of bodybuilding! I really wish the technology was even close to being able to get Ronnie Coleman a new spine and be out pain! I have scrubed a spinal fusion and it's by far the most invasive, brutal exhaustive surgery I've ever seen! Totally mind blowing! The pain he is in is way more then a peanut!! We are bodybuilders we use weights as tools we are not weightlifters. There are other ways he could have been more stress on the muscle. He said everybody must be big but everybody doesn't want to live no heavy ass weight. Damn right we don't we want to do what it takes to win best way. Heavyweight is not that way and we know that for a long time now. I just can't help but think imagine what he would look like if he would have done the higher reps and trained once a week each muscle instead of destroying his spinal column. He probably would have competed at 330 or 40! I sincerely wonder why nobody tried to help him?? Maybe they did and he just didn't listen! Anyway I pray for the humble beast and the GOAT because I think if it was reversed he would pray for me!

      @BJETNT Před 2 lety +20

      You don't have to lift what I would call heavy to be a bodybuilder! Coleman destroyed himself doing that. The science and almost every other pro bodybuilder on the planet says that if he would have trained more like a bodybuilder like more time under tension he would have got even better results than he did and less damage if any. I have to admit when I switched him more time and retention the muscle gains doubled compared to the lower reps. I wish I had those studies available when I was competing 20 years ago. I think if the man would have followed the science he probably would have been another 25 lb heavier muscle lies with no or less spinal damage. But he never used techniques like pre-exhaust or anything. He was doing 625 lb for 20 reps on free weight squats. The guy is the same size as me height wise and the biggest I ever got was 242 at 511 and that's using juice He almost got that big natural. I can't imagine being 70 lb bigger than I was I wouldn't want to. But that's why I was never the best in the planet either

    I love hearing conversations like this. It kills me when people scoff at someone for taking steroids like it makes it easy. Those guys dedicate 24 hours of every day to the sport. From the insane diet, incredibly intense workouts, knowledge of physiology, etc, those guys are at a level most people don’t even know exists. Imagine setting an alarm several times throughout the night just to get up and eat so you can keep your massive protein intake consistent.

      it's not that it's easy, it's how much of a farce and weird thing to want to watch science experiments with spray tans walk around in their draws and to talk about their genetics and to buy protein powder. It takes a ton of dedication and talent along with a lot of gear to even finish in the top 10 of any competition, but it's absurd to a lot of people.

      Regardless of effort and all the variables needed to reach gargantuan size without steroids there is a true limit that humans can take their body’s capacity to build on.
      Proof is how Ronnies legs have completely disappeared to practically barely a normal size. If man was meant to look like that naturally common sense says the physique will last long into one’s 80’s.
      That has and will not happen period.
      All massive bodybuilders have lost their physiques when they reach their 60’s and progressively get smaller and less dense.
      That’s if they reach their 60’s in the first place.
      In my opinion Ronnie will live longer because he had to stop abusing his internal and external body but if the damage he did is just dormant for now he good die young as the damage becomes more evident while he ages.

    As a young bodybuilder (Canadian) I went to Venice in the mid '70s to train in what was called the "mecca" back then. I wanted to learn as much as I could and be in the company of all the greats back then.
    All of the big names with exception of some European and east coast US guys (Nubret, Roger Walker, Ferrigno, Mike Katz,) trained in Venice, California.
    Gold's was the gym where Arnold, Franco, Denny Gable, the Black Prince (Robby Robinson), Waller, Guliani, Zane, etc. (watch Pumping Iron, there's many others) where they trained. Steroid use was big, although there was very limited knowledge about it, and there was a handful of drugs which everybody used, not like there is today. Some guys (I won't name them, but they were and still are famous) used 100 tablets of Dianabol (methandrostenolone) 5 mg tab strength, per day (normal dose is 1 -2 tabs daily). It was a very cheap, but extremely effective anabolic. All the big names used it.
    Another more toxic, but effective oral anabolic used widely then was Anadrol which helped put on enormous size in a short period of time. Winstrol V (V for veterinary use) and Testosterone cypionate, Sustanone (test propionate) were a key injectables being used, as was Deca Durabolin. So many guys used massive doses and combinations of these, some used for growth, others for pre-contest conditioning. The thing was that nobody knew what dosages were effective, nobody knew much about toxicity or pharmacology, everybody sort of did what they thought was right and what others were doing. Growth hormone, trenbolone etc. were not on the regimen back then.
    Most of the drugs were obtained by prescription from doctors who only dealt with bodybuilders in the area. Or were bought and brought back from Tijuana, Mexico, where they had pharmacies dedicated to selling just steroids which were cheap. I had gone over there many times and purchased large amounts of injectable and oral drugs for use when bodybuilding.
    Many bodybuilders also used speed, coke and other stimulants to help them charge through workouts. It was a different time, but now the understanding of performance enhancers has grown as well as the business side of it. If I can say anything about what I did then, now at 66 years of age, I have stage 3 kidney disease as a direct result of using those drugs all the years I was a bodybuilder.

    • @BJETNT
      @BJETNT Před 2 lety +4

      No those were pretty basic I'm testing d-ball!! And Ronnie Coleman didn't have to use crazy amounts He never had an enlarged heart or any of the major side effects from steroids. He was natural honestly until he had that 80 lb jump. He really did have one in a million or probably 10 million genetics. All the damage he got was from using way too much weight because his body was just never meant to do that and he already had spinal damage when he started. There's no reason for a bodybuilder to be squatting 800 lb. Or even 600 lb for 20 reps! There are techniques that eliminate the need to do that. Honestly Coleman probably could have got better results if he would have trained more like a bodybuilder and been even bigger than he was with less damage. Matter of fact I know that for a fact cuz that's just basic science. He didn't have to stay on decent amount of drugs like for three decades like the rest of them because of his genetics He probably was on for about 10 or 12 years. I am when he was his first competing in the Olympics he never got better than last place and then flex wheeler introduced him to steroids by his own admission and ruined everybody else's career including his. Coleman dominated the sport for the next decade. And the two drugs he mentioned besides growth hormone are not really that severe not even close they're old and I mean 80 years old d-ball you can use for hormone replacement. Testosterone the same thing and growth hormone replacement therapy is quite common. The dosages is what would be the difference between regular people and then powering a train lol!!! I think Coleman would have done a lot better if you would have used more growth hormone. He finally didn't have the connective tissues ruptures into a spinal disc because both hormone helps those strengthen big time.
