  • Gary Wiggins used to love exploring the Sam Houston National Forest, when he was younger. Without a second thought, he used to walk the area alone. Sometimes, at night.
    In 1977, he had an encounter there that totally changed the way he looks at the place. Because of what he knows is out there, he won't camp in a tent or go into the woods when the sun isn't up.
    If you like listening to story after story about people encountering things that go bump in the night, you won't want to miss this special, mid-week episode!

    When I was 12, I went to a summer camp in Northern California. I was sharing a small cabin with 3 other boys. In the middle of the night, I got up to use the bathroom. Instead of wandering across the camp to the community restroom, I decided to go behind the cabin instead. I finished, looked up on the adjacent hill, and saw the silhouette of what I thought was a werewolf. It was motionless, and it appeared to be staring at me. It wasn't long before I slowly backed up and ran back into the cabin. I told my counselor and naturally, he shrugged it off as a fox or wild dog. That minor experience was enough to convince me these things are out there.

      It really changes the whole concept of camping and hiking. Little short of taking a Kalashnikov with you just luck not meeting one if these things seems to be the involved.

    I live in TX. Been all over the woods here. I don't look at the woods the same way as before. And this explains some of the strange noises that I have heard at night while camping with my family.

    Used to ride dirt bikes through the Sam Houston Forest. It is massive in size and very spooky. Reading the early history of the deep east Texas piney woods (pre settlers) you will discover that the original heavy tree canopy extended from what is now Houston all the way to Maine. Literally, you could have traveled between those 2 points walking from tree limb to tree limb.

    Thanks again Vic. As a mental health professional with over 30 years experience I have encountered much PTSD. It can have crushing effects on the person affected. Although I love your show I also feel great knowing you treat the people with such respect and kindness. I can tell that helping people is much more important to you than having a great show. Its awesome that you do both though! I hope this lasts forever but it does concern me at the same time knowing there appears to be a never ending flood of new stories and as we both know the people willing to come forward are no doubt outnumbered by the total experiencers by 10 to 1! Peace my friend. Wade

    People disappearing due to a "mishap." Running into a Dogman would qualify as a mishap. Another great show and guest Vic!

    I think you can encounter a Dogman even in the daytime. 😱

    • @blazerwilliams2260
      @blazerwilliams2260 Před 3 lety +1

      I do too, it definitely seems to be most common in the early morning hours but I've heard of plenty of daytime sightings. The scariest encounters to me are when people are driving and these things run up along side of them. I used to walk all over at night here in NC and I mean pretty rural places, I would drink at friends houses and walk home at 3 and 4 in the morning sometimes but now that I know about these things I'll never do that again.

    What amazes me is how quickly the human brain can compute information, such as seeing something so quickly crossing the road.

    I live in Houston but never heard of any Dogman Encounters in or around Houston area. There is alot of heavy forest areas though, so i wouldn't doubt a genuine encounter of some hunter because they are always in the woods and are bound to run into something strange like these creatures.
    Humble, New Caney, and Conroe areas are the creepiest forest areas where there are people actually living in the middle if the forest. Ive been to these places many times and get creeped out even in daytime. I couldnt live in forest, nooooo thank you.

    I've noticed that a lot of campgrounds throughout Florida and now I'm even hearing some of these other states have gone to wear another just date parks... Sun-up sun-down closing... And I'm wondering if there's a connection between perceive dangerous because of reports and eyewitnesses that they're not speaking about and they just closed the park at night to avoid what they consider to be the most dangerous time for visitors

      I would have liked to have seen where Mike Wooleys encounter took place. But finding bigfoot doesn't want to show a dark side to the creature. They used boy scouts as bait in one episode, lol.

      @grice40 Před 9 lety +3

      Same here RobBottin! I thougt for sure when I saw him on the show that night that they would use his encounter but I guess you are right they don't want to use bad encounters for the show but folks who read about encounters with these animals know they can be bad. I saw that boy scout episode! Lol....

    This reminds me of my trip to the Grand Canyon. The Park has no regard for the safety of their visitors. They don't say one word to people about getting close to the edge. A poor Veteran was by the edge and a wind gust blew him off the cliff and he stood up stunned and stumbled off that ledge to his death. Come to find out this has happened several times and they don't say a peep to unsuspecting tourist as they enter the park. At a minimum you'd think they would have a fence or a wire or something to protect the paying visitors. There is the the key, Paying Visitor! Shame on you parks.

    I really think it was a squatch & not a DM, all bc squatchs' stomp, break branches kinda like a tantrum if they want U out of their territory. DM sneak up & R very stealth like, U'll hear twigs snap if they're following U but usually present them selves. Jus sayin...
