Yeah, you can see the "full frame" sensor, it gives depth to the image and therefore looks more cinematic... but as you say, not that big of a difference.

I watched the video clips carefully on my 22 inch 1080p Dell monitor bought 6 years ago. When I pay attention to the model's face, I can see that some scene has much better resolution and contrast, and some scene looks a little fuzzy and a tiny bit of grayed-out. When the model is moving and the camera is on model's face, the difference is like night and day. Some moving scene is rock steady. The model's face look sharp all the time, and give audience of a feeling of exuberant beauty. Some moving scene shows the model's face is jumping, shaking, and quickly moving in and out of focus. The shaking and fuzziness distracts audience's attention completely. The model's expression and spirit are absent.
In short, if I concentrate on model's face and try to appreciate the beauty and emotion of the model, I can immediately tell whether the scene is taken by Song A6000 or Sony A7 II.
I think human eye can see much more details than human brain can notice or realize. When we staring a picture of a brick wall, perhaps double amount of details in the picture, or seen by our eyes, will not register in our brains. Thus we do not appreciate the image quality. But when we see human faces, the extra detail seen by the eyes may be processed by some other parts of our brains, and convey the subtle emotion of the human subject.
Thanks again for this artistic video that fully reveal the beauty and emotion of a model. I found that I am able to appreciate the difference between Sony A6000 and A7II. This video actually set my mind on A7II, or more modern full-frame cameras with advanced continuous eye-focus features.
I can't tell the difference, to be honest. Beautiful color grading, regardless.

I dont see enough of a difference to justify the cash, TBH. Even if I wanted better images, I would focus on making a better LUT for color correction. Everyone ignores color these days and worries about things they already have in abundant supply (stable camera, resolution, etc.)
@@matthewphillips5483 - Yeah. With the abundance of free and paid tutorials and courses online, I would rather invest in learning color grading and some lighting techniques. Will upgrade my gear later.

Its a wonderful video. I have a question I am very new to this camera thingy, I recently bought A6100 with a prime lens sony 50mm 1.8. My purpose is video first then photography.
I came to know after using A6100 that S-Log is important for post production color grading.
Can you tell me if A6400 can only shoot in S-log as compare to A6100 then how can I achieve similar profile with A6100? Or there is no way to color grade in a same way as S-Log footage can provide?
I am trying to understand that if both have same sensors then how come if one has picture profile option inside the camera then why not the other camera can give same flat footage which can be modified in post production.
Kindly help me out in this regard.

It's a color preset for your videos. You need any editing software that allows using LUTs (Premiere pro, Davinci, Photoshop, Final Cut)
I have a Sony a6000 and I am very pleased with it. This is my 3rd one and I have used them since they came out. Why are people so concerned with newer, more expensive, and "better" cameras when they still dont have the skills to take footage without blowing out highlights and the footage has bad color? I wish people would buy budget tools and learn their craft over worrying about more Ks of resolution or full frame. No shade to your page but I am tired of people bashing the a6000 when it can get the job done if you are competent.
this is actually really helpful advice/a good point. Not bashing the A6000 but I'm an amateurish photographer and of course the consumer part of me just wants the best and newest thing. But I need to take baby steps lmao

I think if you want to spend a little bit more get the a6400 or the a6500, but for the difference between the a6000 and a6300 is not worth it the extra money

Great review. I have a small budget and I'm in a delima on either a6000 or A7ii for photo shots, what is your opinion, should I push a bit more on the budget for A7iii or go with A7ii, or might as well go for A6000 because it's as good as A7ii?
I always say if you're planning to upgrade to a full frame go directly for the a7 III, not a7 II or similar, there is a lot of difference and it's not worth it in my opinion. I would say if you can wait and save money for the a7 III that's the best option. But if you need right now a camera go for the a6000 or a6100, you won't be disappointed.

Hi Andrés, on the page of the colour profile LUTs it says they are meant for STANDARD colour profiles so they are not good for NEUTRAL profile?
Yes they work even better for Neutral profile. But to get the best look you have to add Contrast and Saturation so it makes your footage Standard before applying them.

It will never be as flat as slog 2 but you can get very close and edit both clips similar as I showed in the video

I want camera for mainly photography but occasionally for videos as well.
I haven't tried the m50 and I'm a Sony user so I would go for the a6300. Low light performance is a big reason for me because I do a lot of night work.

Awesone comparison! Just today, I tried out for the first time ever my wife's Sony A6000, coming from a Lumix S1H. I was positively shocked how well this 8 years old APSC / 8Bit camera performs. Even the colors stand my massive color grading I normally use on footage from my S1H. The A6000 will be my B-cam and for travelling light from now on!

The difference is the battery life for sure. I hate seeing the battery just plummet but I’ve only had limited time with the a7iii but man I fell in love immediately. Planning to purchase next month with Tamron 28-75 f/2.8. That combo is just perfect for me. I love how far my a6000 has gotten me though.

Yes the sigma 16mm 1.4 is a must have if you want a wide angle option

I would go for a sigma 16mm 1.4 for that type of shots, and if you have the budget consider also the sony 50mm 1.8, so you have both wide and close covered.

@@Johnny8bp I bought the 50 mm 1.8 oss from Sony, consider that the aps-c crops 1.5x time do the lense will be a 75 mm. It is indeed a wonderful lense for 300€ here in Italy.

What software do you use for color grading?
Premiere Pro for this video. But I switched recently to Final Cut Pro X
Amazing the quality we still get with our cameras, i agree. I rarely have access to a a7iii and the quality is superior, no doubt, but Im still super happy with my daily camera which is the a6300. Btw, the shots from the beginning are with a gimbal, right? Stabilization sure is an issue when we dont carry our gimbals around. Great video, lets make our cameras still relevant from 2020 on to the following years!

Sony a6000: Neutral color style - Saturation -3, contrast -3, sharpness -1.
Sony a7 III: PP6 Color profile (Cine4)

No I didn't change anything. I actually match both cameras manually comparing each color and trying to get the same result.

Hi, if you have good budget I think the Sony 18-105 F4 is an all in one lens. Otherwise I would go for a Sigma 30mm 1.4
If it's video specifically I definitely recommend the 18-104 f4. Because when you change the zoom it will stay consistently with the f stop instead of increasing the more you zoom.

It should be fine for street photography. But there are newer models like the a6100 or the Sony ZV e10 which is also a super powerful camera.

Can the A6000 perform well in low light scenarios like weddings? I think one would need a full frame for that, no?
It's not the best for low light but maybe it could work with a good 1.4 or 1.8 lens. But of course, it will never be the same as a full frame like the a7 III

I'm very happy with my A7III, and we don't have release date or rumors for the A7IV. I would still go with the A7 III

In the music video? I think it's a Sony 50mm 1.8. And in the B-roll of the girl walking is the same lens on both cameras: Tamron 28-75 2.8

I just picked up an A6000 in 2022 at my fave camera store locally at a smash and grab store for $5 with no lens or battery cover. I bought a couple batteries and BOOM! I now have a second POV. I shoot with the A73 as well. Crazy, it's still usable.

There isn’t a better or worse lens for videos. It all depends on the things you want to shoot. You have better range with the 18 105 but better low light performance with the 28-75 2.8. What is more important to you?

I was saving money for the a7iii (my Olympus was stolen a year ago) but I just got the a6000 as a gift, I haven't start to shoot with it yet, but dude! you lift my expectations, of course I knew it's not all about the camera, but to start again the a6000 is a great option to help a starter

Bro I have a6000 ,when I take photos and zoom it I see noise even in good lighting conditions,my friend owns a canon 200 d and he gets better results with the skin textures with kit lens . The photos I take with my Sony a6000 are properly focused but still I just can't get that skin textures,hd photos .When I edit it in Photoshop the more noise introduces causing the photos looks unprofessional.can you help me with that?

The a 6000 does not have an audio input; has a cropped censor, so vintege lenzes need an (lens-)adaptor; has no in body stabalization, thats a big thing with vintage lenses with video. Once stuck on aps-c and youve bought some sony lenses to go with it, it becomes harder and harder to switch to full frame...(you'll lose a lot of money...)
Yes that's a good point, but it's a good camera to start creating videos. Of course if the budget is bigger the 6100 / 6400 would be a better option.
The AF Is how I could tell. Honestly down scaled 4k to 1080p 10 bit 422 and Sony's newest AF would be perfect.
its similar and great results, but not the feel. for some ppl can see the dof and feel in cinema of the full frame and crop sensor.
